Conditional Formatting Cells In Large Grid

I have the attached spreadsheet which makes the question easier to understand. Basically when you read across and down rows and columns, I'd like the intersecting cell to turn red if the horizontal and vertical row columns letters are different. So in the attached B5 is red because B1=A and A5 is B. Where the intersecting cells match in values, the cells will stay white.

I can create a formula to conditionally format one cell to red: =A2<>B1

But I have a large grid and it would mean re-creating each formula for each cell. How to expand it to the whole range?

Large Spreadsheet With Conditional Formatting

I have multiple large spreadsheets of questionnaire data. Responses are as %'s
What I would like to do is use conditional formatting to pick out the top 3 of each set of questions per column not including 0% (if it falls in the top 3). Using different shades of green in the cell background and a white font.

so.....

The spreadsheets are up to 3000 rows long and up to column BB wide. The sets of questions are of random length spaced by an empty row. So question 1 may have 11 parts to it, each taking up a row so 12 rows in total. Question 2 may have 5 parts taking up row each so 6 rows in total...............Question 80 may have 7 parts so 8 rows in total and on and on.

What I have been doing is working down the first column of responses and manually adding the conditional formatting. Then using the format painter to copy across the relevant rows and columns. For example if Question one was from c5:bb26 I would format c$5:c$26 with the top three then use format painter to drag across to bb5:bb26 ...

Conditional Formatting - Two Different Fields Affect One Cells Formatting For Date?

A little background on what i am doing. I have a spreadsheet that tracks when i have blown the dust out of our computers. I have set up conditional formatting so that the text turns red after 300 days and the cell turns yellow after 600 days. However, some computers are in high dust environments. I would like the spreadsheet to tell me to blow the dust out of these sooner. see the attached sheet.

Difficult Formatting With Blank Grid

I have a huge number of excels that are formatted poorly. They basically look like a checkerboard of data. Looks similar to the illistration below. The X's represent Data and the periods blank cells.

Except that this goes on for over 100 columns and 30,000 rows. Each block of data is about 4 to 6 sheets printed. My boss does not want to get any blank sheets, only sheets with data on them.

I can see the pages outlined after I Print Preview. But I really don't wat to Ctrl+Click and set the print area thousands of times. Is there a macro that can do this?

I was thinking something along the line of check the range of cells for each page, and if the page has data in it, then set that page's cell range in Print Area.

Performance And Potential Grid (nine Box Grid) - Multiple Values

I created a table where based in several competences anyone can evaluate performance and potential. My issue comes when based on that result (colum Y in "Perf&Pot" Sheet) I want to export that to a nine box matrix (Sheet 2 "grid" in the attached excel). As could be several people in the same box I wasn't able to com up with a formula that solves this.

Working in Excel 2007. I am using excel for a data log (basically) and want it to format all empty cells in a row yellow if there is data in column A

Basically, If i have a value in A2, I want any empty cell between B2-G2 to be filled in yellow (as an idicator to the inputter that the cell needs to be completed).

there is already conditional formatting on these cells, which i want to maintain for the non-empty cells. I also have "0" as a value, so I couldn't use the basic conditional formatting setting it =0, it highlighted cells with $0.00, which i do not want.

I want to add some colour conditional formatting to the cells in column C, dependent on their variance to the figure in column B. I've got the basic gist of applying the rule to the one single cell, but I'm not sure how to apply it to all the cells in the column. Reference Cells One To One In Conditional Formatting?

I'm using conditional formatting where one column of cells is referencing another column of cells. For example, I want cell K2 to highlight if the date entered doesn't match the date in F2. I then want cell K3 to highlight if the date entered doesn't match the date in F3. I want cell K4 to highlight if the date entered doesn't match the date in F4 and so on. I'm not having any issue putting conditional formatting on the cells/row references individually, but when I try to copy the formatting (by using format painter) to save time all of the cells in column K just reference the first cell in column F since the first cell in column K references that F cell but not any other F cell. How do I copy these row by row references between columns so that each reference is unique?

I need to apply conditional formatting to cells in a column that contain formulas, or more accurately cells that do not. I have a spreadsheet with default values in a column based on a lookup function. I need to know if the user overwrites the default and cannot use UDF's or VBA. I don't think it's possible so my alternative is to include a hidden column that does the same lookup and do the conditional format off of a comparison.

I have a column that when I put info in it gives me a colour, now on this I have quit a few different labels, eg. AAG201, PRA001, 000010 and so on, now on my rule I have put in that if it is PRA* ,AAG* to be one colour and 0000* to be a colour. (this is working without a problem).

I have tried to get the rest of the row to be the same colour, but cannot get te rules to work, I do not know which rule to use to get this working.

I need to hightlight from A1:A18

In the above cells I have values from 1 to 4

So I need to fill the cell with 4 different colours.

If cell equals 1 = Green
If cell equals 2 = Yellow

i am trying to highlight the cells red in the b column if a3=d3 (if names match) and if b3<e3 (only if name is "a" should e3 be used to compare with b3). hope this makes sense. i've attached a sample worksheet.

i've tried =if(b3<e3, (vlookup(a3,d3:e33,1,false),true)...but does not work correctly. i need the average weight to remain constant according to the name when comparing, but if i drag the formula down to other cells, the average weight does not correspond to the name.

Is there anyway to use conditional formatting to do the following:

If a cell has value and a cell below it doesn't have value, then highlight both cells. However, as soon as the blank cells are not blank, then both cells would clear the highlight.

In the example below, cells A1 and A2 on column A would be highlighted. Cells B3 and B4 on column B would be high lighted. Whenever cell A2 is filled in, then the highlight would clear. This logic would apply from column A through column Z.

I feel like this is a pretty simple question to answer but I cant find an answer to it anywhere or I'm just not skilled enough to understand it. I have two columns D and E that have dates in them. Column D is the purchase date of a computer and column E is how many years months and days its been since it was purchased. I want both columns to be the same color. If the computer is 2 years old or less I want it green, 3-4 yrs old yellow and 4+ red. I have it working for column D but I can't figure out how to apply it to column E.
