Conditional Formatting - Difference Between Cells

Feb 18, 2014

I have an excel sheet for recording the results from measurements made on round material.

What I want is to have the conditional formatting so that if they have more than the allowed difference in a column they are highlighted red.

Example:

Allowed difference is 0.06 so the cells with a larger difference would be highlighted red.

Conditional Formatting Based On Difference Value Between Figures In Two Cells?

Apr 10, 2014

I would like to use conditional formatting to mark cells with arrows depending on the difference between the values in those cells and figures from different cells. Namely, I have percentage values in column A and B. I need cells in column B to be marked with arrows (up, right or down) when the difference between value B and A is bigger than 2%, bigger than 0 but smaller than 2%, and smaller than 0 respectively (see the spreadsheet attached).

Conditional Formatting Based On A Percentage Difference

Apr 3, 2009

Using conditional formatting i am trying to write a formula that changes colour on the percentage difference of another cell.

An example would be if cell A1 contained a target of 5% in cell A2 would be an actual. If cell A2 is equal to A1 or better then it would be green. If cell A2 was within 10% less of A1 (i.e 4.5%-4.99%) then amber and red for the target minus 10% (i.e <4.49%)

I want to do this as a conditional formatting formula as the target figure will change but 10% difference will remain the same.

Excel 2007 :: Conditional Formatting Empty Cells Based On Full Cells?

Nov 17, 2011

Working in Excel 2007. I am using excel for a data log (basically) and want it to format all empty cells in a row yellow if there is data in column A

Basically, If i have a value in A2, I want any empty cell between B2-G2 to be filled in yellow (as an idicator to the inputter that the cell needs to be completed).

there is already conditional formatting on these cells, which i want to maintain for the non-empty cells. I also have "0" as a value, so I couldn't use the basic conditional formatting setting it =0, it highlighted cells with $0.00, which i do not want.

Conditional Formatting Of Cells

Jul 3, 2009

I want to add some colour conditional formatting to the cells in column C, dependent on their variance to the figure in column B. I've got the basic gist of applying the rule to the one single cell, but I'm not sure how to apply it to all the cells in the column. I have tried "dragging" it down, but it then just gives me the variance to the original row.

Reference Cells One To One In Conditional Formatting?

Jul 24, 2014

I'm using conditional formatting where one column of cells is referencing another column of cells. For example, I want cell K2 to highlight if the date entered doesn't match the date in F2. I then want cell K3 to highlight if the date entered doesn't match the date in F3. I want cell K4 to highlight if the date entered doesn't match the date in F4 and so on. I'm not having any issue putting conditional formatting on the cells/row references individually, but when I try to copy the formatting (by using format painter) to save time all of the cells in column K just reference the first cell in column F since the first cell in column K references that F cell but not any other F cell. How do I copy these row by row references between columns so that each reference is unique?

Conditional Formatting Cells That Contain Formulas - NO VBA?

Mar 28, 2013

I need to apply conditional formatting to cells in a column that contain formulas, or more accurately cells that do not. I have a spreadsheet with default values in a column based on a lookup function. I need to know if the user overwrites the default and cannot use UDF's or VBA. I don't think it's possible so my alternative is to include a hidden column that does the same lookup and do the conditional format off of a comparison.

i've tried =if(b3<e3, (vlookup(a3,d3:e33,1,false),true)...but does not work correctly. i need the average weight to remain constant according to the name when comparing, but if i drag the formula down to other cells, the average weight does not correspond to the name.

Conditional Formatting Of Empty Cells

Jun 27, 2012

Is there anyway to use conditional formatting to do the following:

If a cell has value and a cell below it doesn't have value, then highlight both cells. However, as soon as the blank cells are not blank, then both cells would clear the highlight.

In the example below, cells A1 and A2 on column A would be highlighted. Cells B3 and B4 on column B would be high lighted. Whenever cell A2 is filled in, then the highlight would clear. This logic would apply from column A through column Z.

Code:
A1 Description 1 B1 Description 8
A2 blank cell B2 Description 9
A3 Description 3 B3 Description 10
A4 Description 4 B4 blank cell

I tried using two conditional formatting (one to high light and one to clear) but doesn't seem to work.

Using Different Cells Date For Conditional Formatting?

Jul 31, 2012

I feel like this is a pretty simple question to answer but I cant find an answer to it anywhere or I'm just not skilled enough to understand it. I have two columns D and E that have dates in them. Column D is the purchase date of a computer and column E is how many years months and days its been since it was purchased. I want both columns to be the same color. If the computer is 2 years old or less I want it green, 3-4 yrs old yellow and 4+ red. I have it working for column D but I can't figure out how to apply it to column E.
