why there is no option for adding a picture manually to the comment of a cell? when editing a comment the Insert picture from file from the Insert menu is disabled ! (Office XP)
and can you please edit the code so the Width and Height of the comment box is set exactly to the dimensions of the picture? (that is how to get the exact width and height of the picture being inserted from code in excel ?)
I need to link an image to a cell value and display the selected image in a new sheet of the same excel. I am attaching samplefile for easy reference. The requirement is, from the workout sheet when I select from drop down list, then the corresponding cell value appears in Parameter sheet in C9 cell.
There are four images copied in Parameter excel. The given image has to be selected and linked to the C9 cell value. Based on the selection that particular image should be shown on Sample Picture sheet. Here based on the selection only the image should reflect here.
I am looking for a way to take the picture name associated with an image ie: (picture 571) and place that picture name in the cell next to the image.
I can see the picture name - it registers in the top left box that usually indicates the cell the cursor is on... and I could manually type that name next to each image.
However my spreadsheet has several thousand rows- each with several columns of information and an image..
I am looking for a way "formula?" to automatically read the image in cell J4 and populate cell K4 with the image name... and so on.
The reason for my request... is I am importing products into a web based shopping cart... to do so I have to export the products to a csv and import that csv into the shopping cart. The process of exporting to a csv- strips away all the images and leaves just data.
I found that I can save the document as an html and that process creates a folder with all the images- saved as (picture 571.jpg) if the resulting csv had the image name... the shopping cart would then look for that image name in my image file and it would populate into the shopping cart appropriately.
This seemed on it's face like a really simple thing to do, I have plenty experience with excel & I thought I'd be able to make cell k4= j4 and tada it would glean the image name & I could simply copy that formula all the way down the sheet & it would be done... but I just cant find the magic button that freely gives up the image name...
Is there a way to have image box display an image with a name matching data from a cell? example: if I type "hello" in cell a1, Image box will load image named "hello". And display new images by changing the name in cell a1. Note: the images will be located in a permanent folder.
I am working on a financial tracking sheet for somebody in my organization. The totals have to be entered as number of bills, but he wants to read it afterword as $ amount. So is there a way to type in the number of bills in a cell (ie, 15) but have the $ amount (ie, $300.00) show up in the same cell when he hits enter or tab? This is my least favorite solution (assuming it is even possible), but it is what he is asking for. I feel like I just need to know that it won't work before he agrees to try something else.
I need to find an easy way to locate an image on my server and upon selection rather than inserting the actual image I need to insert the image path. e.g. "s:imageshighresgreen1234.jpg"
My workbook simply has multiple columns of data which will be summarized visually in a tag cloud (I have the tag cloud part taken care of already creating either a jpg or png, I simply have to change the extension within a batch file to change between picture formats)
I need to have the tag cloud image display and update depending on which column the user would like to summarize (for now I have simplified the issue by only having one of the data columns in my workbook, and will worry about the user selection of the data column to be summarized later).
My Main Question:
Focusing on the image display and updating now, whether it be an ActiveX Image Control or any other way. I've been playing around manually before I try and code it and I can not get either a jpg or png file to attach to the ActiveX control (both of which cause an Invalid Picture Message).
The file name can stay the same if need be and for now I think/assume that'd be easiest (I have my Tag cloud generator just replacing the previously existing image file of the same name).
Would ActiveX control be the way to go for this dynamically changing image?
I have a number of image controls on a user form, each being loaded with an image from file.
Image1 being loaded with a picture of a bus image2 being loaded with a picture of a school
And so on
Now what I am trying to do is when that image is clicked the name of that image is passed to a textbox
So the action would be
1 image of bus loaded into image control1 , the name of that image being bus.jpg 2 image is clicked 3 the name bus.jpg appears in a text box
Here is what I have so far
Code:
Private Sub Image1_Click() DataInput.TextBoxItem.Value = bus.jpg
DataInput.TextBoxItem.Value= Image1.Name - this does not work
End Sub
Which works but as you can see this is static, as I have supplied the value , were as I would like the clicking action to pick up the name of the jpeg being displayed
So expanding upon this if say image1 is loaded with say a picture of a car instead of a bus
LValue4 = "E:Car.jpg"
Image1.Picture = LoadPicture(LValue4)
Now when it is clicked the name of the image being displayed in image control1 would be Car.jpg
And it is this value I wish to transfer to a text box for now will do more with it later
In addition to this I am not sure if the best idea is to have a number of image controls and load each with an individual picture or have one image control and swap the picture by clicking a command button
I am trying to display an image ("image") on an image control ("Image1") placed in a worksheet ("Sheet1"). The problem is that I want this action to take place when I press a button in a user form. I am trying to use the following code, but it seems that VBA does not recognize the image control ("Image1") in the worksheet.
Private Sub cmdDisplayImage_Click() Dim image As Variant image = ThisWorkbook.Path & "sun.jpg" Sheets("Sheet1").Activate Image1.Picture = LoadPicture(image) End Sub
Excel 2010. I need to place picture into one cell or one big merged cell, as a background fill. picture must resize to size of cell. must be fixed in, not in front. i still need write into that cell, so it needs to be really background.
The idea is to center an image in the middle of a cell where the cell's size is variable. This shall be done for a column of images if a certain cell in the same row contains content different from 0. If not the image shall be invisible.
Sub Center()Dim Position As Integer Dim Picture As Integer Picture = 6 For Position = 7 To 320If Sheets("List of Measures").Cells(Position, 2).Value
[Code] ......
Run-time error 1004: Application-defined or object-defined error?
I'm looking to see if there is a feature similar to using F2 to paste text into a cell and having the cell automatically expand to the needed row height. I just need it for images. Is there a feature that will allow me to paste a picture/image into a cell and have the cell automatically expand to the height &/or width needed to accommodate the size of the image?
I have a need to embed a wav file into a workbook. This is fairly simple to do through the insert>>object>>create from file, but I see no way to do this through VBA. I want the entire process to be simple so the user just has to click a button, pick their file from explorer, then play the sound file through the little speaker icon that is generally created.
In the end the one sheet (filename.xls) is the only thing sent through email and it must contain the wav embedded inside without using the insert>>object>>create from file route.
I am creating a large excel file with multiple tabs and I need one of the tabs to contain a PDF. I have tried going to insert - object - browse - found the PDF file but it imports very blurry and it's quite hard to read. I tried inserting the object/PDF as a "link to file" and/or "display as icon" and all that essentially does is insert a shortcut to the PDF so that only works if you're on the same computer you used to create the link. I need to be able to send this file to another computer and be able to access the PDF somehow. Am I going to have to buy Adobe's ability to convert PDFs to .xls?
I wish to embed/nest (I'm not sure what the difference/ correct syntax is)
These Funtions:
1. "=INDEX($H$4:$H$9,MATCH(G14,$G$4:$G$9,0))"
2, =HLOOKUP(Arg!D10,Arg!$D$10:$DA$50,5,FALSE)
The HLOOKUP returns a text value that the Index and Match convert into a number. I wish this to be done in one cell - is this possible?
I'm using INDEX with MATCH because HLOOKUP can return a 'not applicable' that equals '6' this need to be discounted in my results but that is a digression FYI.
I have an Excel spreadsheet with Harvey's Balls font and need to get the file distributed amongst coworkers. Is there a way to embed the font into the spreadsheet so they don't have to install the font?
i have a sheet that autogenerates a .csv file and uploads it into a webform. In order to do this I have to open an Internet Explorer window go to webpage and use the sendkye function, my code looks like this:
Dim ie As Object
Set ie = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") ie.Visible = True ie.Navigate "http://uploadsite/upload.form" 'Check connection til web loop! Do If ie.ReadyState = 4 Then ie.Visible = False Exit Do Else DoEvents End If Loop
if I instead could EMBED the webbrowser into my sheet and then go to the upload site and upload the file directly from the sheet. I have some basic vba skills, but I have never worked with the embedded objects.
I am trying to embed part of a webpage into my worksheet. Specifically, I want to include a form from a web-site that allows me to enter a flight number. I then want the results to pop-up in a new web-window.
So, I want the search box (or a section of the webpage) to appear in my excel worksheet so that I don't have to always open IE when searching for data.
I have a file with two sheets - Main and Reference. The file has a macro that when used from Main sheet displays some data (images to be specific) from the Reference sheet. The main sheet is of a specific format and has some buttons to call the macro.
I want to have the capability to create any number of main sheets of the same format. I know this can be done by saving the Main sheet as a template and right clicking on a sheet and clicking 'Insert..'. But that would require the template to be stored in the excel start file on the local computer.
I want to know if there is any way the worksheet template can be stored within an excel file, so that if the file is sent to people on a different computer, the user can easily add more worksheets using the template?
I've just written up an SOP for a reconciliation process. Part of it requires the reader to use some Excel UDFs that I've created. Rather than having someone look for the UDF file on the network, I tried to embed it as an Excel Worksheet Icon within my procedure document. However, when I double-click the icon to launch the add-in, I get the following error message:
"Microsoft Word can't start the application required to open this object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?" This does not happen when I embed a regular Excel workbook, or even a template.

I am trying to use data in rows on an Excel worksheet to make name tags for an event. I am trying to put a jpeg image in an Excel cell and then use the image, along with other data on the worksheet to merge with Word.
I've tried attaching a picture/image to a comment in a cell, but I could not get the image to appear on the merge when I selected it.
how to get the image in the cell and then be able to use it for the merge?
In Excel, I have a sheet for each team that I manage. Each sheet lists the team members and displays their picture below their names. Some people are on multiple teams/sheets.
I have a master list with everybody's name and picture that I copy and paste the pictures from when putting a team together. This has become a very tedious process.
Is there a way I can type the person's name on a team sheet and have their picture automatically appear below their name? I don't know if this can be done with some kind of lookup or if it will involve VB. I tried making the picture the background of an Autoshape or comment, but I could not figure out how to dynamically change the picture based on the name in a cell.
I have a set of data with text in one cell and images in a cell adjacent the text to illustrate the text. I am trying to figure out how to add a comment to the cell containing the text and take the image in the adjacent cell and put it in the comment.
Is there a way to do this, or do I have to write a macro that saves the images as their own files and then insert the image files into the comment?
I am trying to add a feature to an excel spreadsheet that will display image files (map files, .emf if possible), whenever its respective cell is clicked. I have a reasonable amount of experience with macros, although it was purely in excel which completely limits my vba skills. I could probably figure something out if I spent a few weeks on it and then it would probably be like 90 mb and slow.
