Getting Max Value Of A Point Inside A Square Defined With X,y Coordinates
Apr 18, 2006
I have a square which is defined with x,y coordinates (roughly 2000 points), and for each point I have a value. And I have to divide this square in to 9 equal sub grids, and find the max value in each sub grid. I have all the coordinates for the sub grids. But I cant get the max value of the specified cells.
I am thinking something like this:
if 0<x>10 and 0<y<10 then it is sub grid 1 and I want to find the max value there
and if 0<x>10 and 10<y<20 then it is sub grid 2 and so one..

I have XYZ Coordinates for a continuous 3-D line that has numerous segments. I want to input a distance along that line, and have it create the XYZ coordinates at that point. See Image for reference.
Row 2 is my start point - I input the initial coordinates here - this point is the origin of the 3-D line
Column B is where I want the calculated Y value to go for each point
Column C is where I want the calculated X value to go
Column D is where I want the calculated Z Value to go
Column E is the how far along the 3-D line that the (to be calculated) point should be at. (MD1)
Columns G, H, & I are given to me, and I use this data to generate the coordinates in Columns J, K, & L
Column O is the cumulative length of the line at that coordinate. (MD2)
Basically, I had planned on writing a formula to:
Find the coordinates of the point who's MD2 (column O) is before the desired point's MD1 (column E)Find the coordinates of the point who's MD2 (column O) is after the desired point's MD1 (column E)Subtract MD's (column O) to get the length of the segmentFind the distance along that segment that MD1 (column E) fallsUse that distance to traverse along that line to the desired point.

I need a formula to tell me whether a number is a square number, or I can do it so to see if the square root of a number is an interger. So far Iv been doing
A1 = 2
A2 = AND(RIGHT(A1,1)=INT(A1))
True or false outcome is fine, and it has been working fine on some examples, but the problem comes when I have 49, as it is 2 digits long. I've seen a formula similar to find the root symbol, and look at all the numbers upto this point (maybe FIND).

I have a pivot table as shown below which is pretty straight forward however I am trying to create a macro that will automatically change the point name to match the point name in column E then copy that resulting dispaly to another sheet then pick the next point name in line and do the same thing and repeat for 50 rows, so my end result will be 50 pivot tables ready for printing. I can do this manually but I am trying to make it automatic...BTW the point names in column E change everyday but the pivot table supports the name changes.
Option Explicit
Sub PointName()
Dim Ws As Worksheet
Dim Rng As Range, Cel As Range
Set Ws = ActiveSheet
Set Rng = Range(Cells(2, 7), Cells(Rows.Count, 7).End(xlUp))
For Each Cel In Rng
Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "
Ws.Columns("A:B").Copy
Sheets.Add
With ActiveSheet
.Paste
.Name = Trim(Cel)
.Range("A1").Select
End With
Next
Ws.Activate
End Sub
I turned it off for a while and when I turned it back on I am getting an error
Unable to set the _Default property of the PivotItem class
Debugger is highlighting
Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "

Trying to convert an Excel 2003 macro to work in Excel 2007.
The problem line is
Dim MyDataObject As DataObject
I suspect the problem is a Missing Reference, but I cannot figure out which one. I have the same ones (in 2007) as 2003 except for one which is not showing
Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library
Is this the one it needs? It is called something else in 2007?
The ones I do have ticked are
Visual Basic For Applications
Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library
OLE Automation
Microsoft Office 12.0 Object Library
Microsoft ADO Ext. 2.8 for DDL and Security
Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library
Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.8 Library
Microsoft Scripting Runtime
Microsoft XML v2.6

' zip
Call movedata(5, rrow, ecol, erow)
Worksheets("new").Range(Cells(erow, ecol)).Font.Bold = True
' speed dial
Call movedata(6, rrow, ecol, erow)
the first time font.bold is set to true, it completes w/o error. The bolded line returns 'application defined or object defined error 1004'. Ive tried activating the new sheet immediately before setting bold (like the first time it gets set) but it still errors.

I have problems with setting Validation input title and message. When in column "C" I type product code, data validation of corresponding cell in column "D" changes to list of diameters allowed for that product. That works fine. But i also want to set validation message to show allowed diameters.I set it in VBA using named ranges.
But for every second line (13, 15, etc on attached file) I get an application-defined or object-defined error. The rest (14, 16 etc) works ok.

I am using Microsoft Excel 2010 and Microsoft VBA 7.0 on my system. I would like to eventually create a PowerPoint and insert charts generated in the Excel workbook. In the meantime, I cannot get the basic PowerPoint created.
The line in red is highlighted blue when the compile error "User-defined type not defined" message box appears.
Public Sub TryAgain() Dim myPowerPoint As PowerPoint.Application
'
' do nothing for now
'End Sub
I have set the references such that Microsoft Project 14.0 Object Library is indeed checked. The Excel file only contains this code in a module. All sheets are blank. Nothing else is written yet.

I have a very strange problem in DEBUG mode, because i get this error "Application-defined or object-defined error" when referring to a cell and assigning it a value so it goes to my error handler and i have a Resume Next there. It continues to go through the code whilst continuing to go to the error handler but when i step out of the function it restarts again from the beginning on the called function and then on the second run of my code it seems to WORK!?! So i'm thinking what the hell is going on, it falls over and fails the first time round and works the second time round?
In free-run mode from excel i just get a #VALUE!

I am doing a cross between two parents, whose possible genotypes are AA, BB, or AB.
I want to use if clauses to look at the parent genotypes, (paternal is listed in column E and maternal is listed in column F) and then give me the possible recombinant genotypes in column G. there are 9 possible combinations (recombinants in parenthesis)
AA x AA (AA)
BB x BB (BB)
AA x AB (AA, AB)
AB x AA (AA, AB)
BB x AB (BB, AB)
AB x BB (BB, AB)
AB x AB (AA, AB, BB)
AA x BB (AB)
BB x AA (AB)
I tried using if clauses, but i don't think i can nest more than 7 cases, and I have 9 different combos.
