Insert Filename Before Image In Macro

Jun 4, 2014

I have a macro as follows which allows me to select multiple images and it inserts them into excel. Firstly it deletes previous images.

It also increases the size of the rows to 250 and column to 100 to make the image size standard.

I have it skipping every second row which I intend to add the filename of the image.

What is it currently doing is adding the first filename (including path) in A5 and then not showing the next filenames.

I am using ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = PicList to generate the filename.

How to get the remaining names? Also I would only like the filename if possible and not the full path.

Sub InsertPictures()
Dim filename As Variant
Dim PicList() As Variant
Dim PicFormat As String
Dim Rng As Range
Dim sShape As Shape
Dim shp As Shape

[Code]...

Im sure my Macro is probably overkill for what I am trying to do however I have merged about 4 macros I have found together.

Insert Filename From A Cell?

Dec 10, 2013

Is it possible to insert the filename of another excel file based on the information in a cell within your current file?

I have a file named 12-07.xlsx, which has a sheet Data 12-07, and that sheet has information all through it. I want to populate a cell in a new file with inform from the 12-07.xlsx cell B3.

I know the Formula is ='[12-07.xlsx]Data 12-07'!$B$3

Is there a way that I can use a cell within the current file, say cell B1 (which has a value of 12-07 - which is the same as the file I want) to populate the filename? Something like

='["=B1".xlxs]Data 12-07'!$B$3 (whereas "=B1" would be 12-07)

I know that will not work as is, but is this concept doable?

Insert Image

Feb 21, 2010

I have a multi-row ,multi-column spreadsheet which lists furniture items, and with some plain Excel formulas allows me to create a proper list.

I'm using Excel as a database, in Sheet1 I have all the data, and Sheet2 is actually where I select the data and set the list of the chosen items.

Now, I have the images for all the items listed in Sheet1 in the same folder of the xlsm file, and I want to insert the proper image in a given cell in the given row.

Looking for something which may do the trick I did find this code in your site and it actually works for me!

Now, what I need is to provide the PictureFileName and TargetCell via parameters already present in the spreadsheet.

Say I want to retrieve the image shelves.jpg which is in the folder DATABASEimgs in your code mentioned above I manually set the string for PictureFileName like this

I was wondering if it is possible to make a picture box show a sheet from a pdf file?

I have a lot of pdf files with maps (all in one folder) which I need to be able to show the maps on excel by using a cell for the reference.

E.G: I type in Cell A1 = "Map1" then B1:D4 (merged Cells) shows the map from the PDF file Map1.pdf from the folder.

I've created a user form that the code will describe. However I would like to place a sized image next to it. for example A1 will be name, A2 will be rank and A3 will have a "jpeg/jpg" image.

Could manage to do all three with the exception that I cannot get the image to go into A3 and resize accordingly.

Insert Image On Userform - ICO File

Mar 26, 2014

I want to insert image on my userform, but I have problems with It. Image is originally .png and has no background, which is what I need.

Excel doesn't allow me to use .png, so I had to convert It to .jpg, but then background is included. Even that would be o.k., If I could somehow change picture background to "&H8000000F&" system colour, but failed to do that also.

So I tried with converting file to .ico, and again Excel recognizes It as invalid picture.

I just want to insert image, and leave background same colour as Userform.

Insert Image Into Cell From Internet

The images are small but over 50 000 so it would be impractical to download them all; thus I want the spreadsheet to insert a specific one, based on my formula.

Tried a macro I found but it only gave the the '1004 Picture class' error.

Insert Image - Center & Zoom

Jan 25, 2007

I have a worksheet (Covers) that is going to be the front and back covers for a binder.

The title/text portion is automatically filled from cells elsewhere in the workbook.

I have a button to bring up a userform that allows one to select the images (3 .jpg images) you wish to use on the cover pages.

I have code that successfully brings up the userform, and allows image selection and preview within the userform.

Now I want to insert these selected images into the worksheet, centered on specified cells and sized (zoom) to a maximum width/height (whichever is reached first).

Can a blank Picture be inserted with its size specified/fixed, then use code (Image1 = LoadPicture?) to change what is displayed?

Or do I have to calculate the size, center it on the page, and insert the image each time?

The code (in part) for the UserForm looks like:

Private Sub SelFcvrImg_Click()

Dim FCpicName As Variant
ChDir ("S:DanBuilder Logos-Photos")
FCpicName = Application. GetOpenFilename(Title:="Select an Image!", _
fileFilter:="Pictures (*.bmp;*.gif;*.tif;*.jpg),*bmp;*gif;*.tif;*.jpg")
If FCpicName <> False Then InsertImgForm.FCoverImgPrvw.Picture = LoadPicture(FCpicName)

End Sub

The UserForm has an Image (preview) with PictureSizeMode set to zoom.

I'm really after the same thing embedded in the sheet...

Insert Filename In A Cell Into Formula In Another Cell

Feb 3, 2014

I have tried =INDIRECT but that will not work.

I have a file name typed into cell C3. I want the formula in cell C4 (C5,C6,C7......) to include the name of the file typed into cell C3. The formula in cell C5 shows what the content should look like.

I want the users to be able to type the file name in Row 3 (C3,D3,E3.......) and have the formulas below them insert the file name and access the information from the files (yes the files can/will be open when we do this).

I need to to have at least twenty different formulas (rows) referencing specific cells in these files.

The formulas would look like this ='["File name from C3"]Audit Information'!$D$35.

I am hoping it may only be a syntax thing and someone here can "show me the way" I have tried &$C$3& with and without quotations with no luck.

Here is the test file. Test3.xlsm‎

PDF Macro With Auto Filename

Jun 3, 2008

The following code has been tested on Excel 2003 and Acrobat 8.0 Pro:

' This line of code specifies your directory as well as the cell or range which you want the filename to come from. As you can see, I have a specific cell with the range name "InvNbr" so that the macro knows to pull the filename from there. If you don't want to use a range name, just replace InvNbr with your cell reference, such as C4.

Filename = "C:Folder1SubFolder1" & ActiveSheet.Range("InvNbr").Value & ".pdf"

' This line of code sends the filename characters and the ENTER key to the active application. The "False" statement allows the macro to continue running without waiting for the keys to be processed.

SendKeys Filename & "{ENTER}", False

' This line of code calls the Adobe PDF printer and runs the conversion. To ensure that you replace this code correctly with your own PDF printer, simply record a macro to print to Adobe PDF and then copy and paste it here....

Macro To Run Macros Without Referencing The Filename

Dynamically Updating Image (ActiveX Image Control)

Oct 26, 2011

My workbook simply has multiple columns of data which will be summarized visually in a tag cloud (I have the tag cloud part taken care of already creating either a jpg or png, I simply have to change the extension within a batch file to change between picture formats)

I need to have the tag cloud image display and update depending on which column the user would like to summarize (for now I have simplified the issue by only having one of the data columns in my workbook, and will worry about the user selection of the data column to be summarized later).

My Main Question:

Focusing on the image display and updating now, whether it be an ActiveX Image Control or any other way. I've been playing around manually before I try and code it and I can not get either a jpg or png file to attach to the ActiveX control (both of which cause an Invalid Picture Message).

The file name can stay the same if need be and for now I think/assume that'd be easiest (I have my Tag cloud generator just replacing the previously existing image file of the same name).

Would ActiveX control be the way to go for this dynamically changing image?

How To Automatically Identify Image Name And Place In Cell Next To Image

Jan 22, 2014

I am looking for a way to take the picture name associated with an image ie: (picture 571) and place that picture name in the cell next to the image.

I can see the picture name - it registers in the top left box that usually indicates the cell the cursor is on... and I could manually type that name next to each image.

However my spreadsheet has several thousand rows- each with several columns of information and an image..

I am looking for a way "formula?" to automatically read the image in cell J4 and populate cell K4 with the image name... and so on.

The reason for my request... is I am importing products into a web based shopping cart... to do so I have to export the products to a csv and import that csv into the shopping cart. The process of exporting to a csv- strips away all the images and leaves just data.

I found that I can save the document as an html and that process creates a folder with all the images- saved as (picture 571.jpg) if the resulting csv had the image name... the shopping cart would then look for that image name in my image file and it would populate into the shopping cart appropriately.

This seemed on it's face like a really simple thing to do, I have plenty experience with excel & I thought I'd be able to make cell k4= j4 and tada it would glean the image name & I could simply copy that formula all the way down the sheet & it would be done... but I just cant find the magic button that freely gives up the image name...

Run Formatting Macro For Excel Filename That Changes Daily?

Recording Macro To Save Workbook Using Filename In Cell?

Grabbing Name Of Displayed Image In Image Control

Jan 22, 2012

I have a number of image controls on a user form, each being loaded with an image from file.

Image1 being loaded with a picture of a bus image2 being loaded with a picture of a school

And so on

Now what I am trying to do is when that image is clicked the name of that image is passed to a textbox

So the action would be

1 image of bus loaded into image control1 , the name of that image being bus.jpg
2 image is clicked
3 the name bus.jpg appears in a text box

Here is what I have so far

Code:

Private Sub Image1_Click()
DataInput.TextBoxItem.Value = bus.jpg

DataInput.TextBoxItem.Value= Image1.Name - this does not work

End Sub

Which works but as you can see this is static, as I have supplied the value , were as I would like the clicking action to pick up the name of the jpeg being displayed

So expanding upon this if say image1 is loaded with say a picture of a car instead of a bus

LValue4 = "E:Car.jpg"

Image1.Picture = LoadPicture(LValue4)

Now when it is clicked the name of the image being displayed in image control1 would be Car.jpg

And it is this value I wish to transfer to a text box for now will do more with it later

In addition to this I am not sure if the best idea is to have a number of image controls and load each with an individual picture or have one image control and swap the picture by clicking a command button
