I have an Excel file in which a Macro function is triggered by pressing a push-button. I need the Macro function to be executed on a time basis (say 10 sec) instead of upon an external action. Can it be done?
I am getting a run time error 1004 during a copy-paste of a named range. I've read other posts and the help file and know it's related to defining an object, but I'm not clear on exactly what hasn't been defined.
Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()
Dim lCell As Range Set lCell = Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("C65536").End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0) ' find first blank cell in the column
With Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("AllDates") 'filter duplicate dates . AdvancedFilter Action:=xlFilterCopy, CopyToRange:=Range( _ "E7"), Unique:=True End With
Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("Dates_Filtered").Copy Destination:=Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("lCell") ' fails on this line Range("Dates_Filtered").Clear
I would like to have a macro which adds all the numbers in a column. The problem is that sometimes there are less sometimes there are more numbers. What I would like is, that the macro to sum the numbers right under the last cell which contains a number.
creating a macro to send email from excel through Outlook basis of different conditions and with embedded text and subject.
There 2 workbooks attached with this post. The workbook named "Data" contains the data and the workbook named "Emails" contains the Dealer Names (in Column A), the Email ids of the contact person (Column B, C and D), the subject (in Column E) and mail content (in Column F).
I need a Macro which first split the data basis of "Dealer Name" Column F into multiple sheets from "Data" sheet. Now, each sheet will contain only the Individual dealer's data. The data whose ageing is 2 or more than 2 days (in Column H) is highlighted in yellow.
Now, I need to send a separate email to dealers with their data details from range A to F (including headers) as an embedded text with subject and mail content which is present in "Emails" workbook.
Now the twist is, if any dealer having the Aging value in Column H is 2 or more than 2 days (highlighted in yellow color) than the email should be sent in CC to Column D email ids but if there is no Aging more than 2 days than the email should be sent in CC to Column C email ids.
"To" email ids (in Column B), subject (in Column E) and mail body (in Column F) will remain same in both conditions. Column A is containing the Dealer Names through which macro will identify the email ids.
Is there a way to run a macro in an open workbook when the workbook becomes activated or deactivated? So if I have workbook A open with a macro in it and workbook B open as well, can I have the macro run on workbook A when that becomes the workbook I see on my screen?
I have a macro that activates and copies data from a hidden workbook. The problem I'm having is that when the macro is done, the workbook is no longer hidden.
I used this code here to "re-hide" the workbook...
Code: Windows("Macros.xlsm").Visible = False
...but now, everytime, it asks me if I want to save the changes to my workbook. I would like to copy a worksheet from this hidden workbook without having to worry about whether to save changes or not everytime I run this macro.
I have written this code to change the colour of a row of cells to bright green and to change the cell contents of cell(Row, 15) from “L” to “F”: This is the main workbook into which are pulled values from three others. I then want it to open one of the subsidiary workbooks, that feeds the information, to change the same job row to bright green and to change the cell contents of cell(Row, 15) from “L” to “F”. Then I want to save the changes and return to the main sheet: - The ActiveCell contains the Job Number.
Option Explicit Public rw As Integer Public Col As Integer Public Job As String Public JobNo As String Public RowNo As Integer Public wName As String Public times As Integer Public Pips As String Public Nicolas As String Public Cindys As String Public wb
Sub FinishedinOfficeCindy() . rw = ActiveCell.Row JobNo = ActiveCell Col = ActiveCell.Column If Col 1 Then Check that the correct MsgBox "Please choose the Job Number first"column is selected and Exit SubThat the workbook is End Ifthe correct one If Cells(rw, 14) "Cindy" Then MsgBox "Wrong Secretary Chosen - whoops!" Exit Sub End If
All works perfectly when I step through it but, when it is activated (Ctrl+Shift+C) it opens the other workbook and then seems to end? I even tried putting in delays to see if they would help but they didn’t.
How do you write an excel macro that looks at the number in the first column (day #) and finds all the duplicate id#s in the second column that are in day 1and adds the amounts together in the 3rd column then writes the first column number (day#), second column number(id#) and the third column (sum of the amounts of duplicate Id#) to an new worksheet. Then the macro would loop through day #2 and do the same thing. Notice that the values in the id column are unique in this data set below this is how I would like the data to look. I have accomplished this in a pivot table but my problem is I need a cvs file to export the final data into an external database which is why I need a macro.....
I have a small workbook that copies 4 cells to a database list as per the code below, 2 of the fields activate a pop up calendar for date input on a button push the data is transfered to the sheet and the cells are cleared, however on the clear contents parts at the bottom of the code it reactivated the pop up calendar, is there a way of not having this pop up when clearing the contents.
I found something similar here VBA - How to select a range in a non-activated worksheet but when I tried to "apply" it, I kept getting an error if the relevant sheet wasn't activated. My code
Code: Dim SearchRange As Range, FindRow As Range Dim column As String, search_string as string column = "K"
What I want to do is to be able to search for a specific value in a specific column on the "Combo boxes" sheet, which isn't activated (the number of rows will never be large, thereof the hard-coded 200).
I get the impression that some sites say the relevant sheet has to be activated, others say it doesn't.
The code above works fine if the sheet is activated, otherwise it fails with error 91 on the msgbox row.
How do I add multiple worksheets at once after opening a new workbook? I was able to go to Insert>Workbook but it only adds one sheet at a time. I I need to add 50 woorksheets, I don't want to really click 50 times.
Insert a new worksheet To add a single worksheet, click Worksheet on the Insert menu. To add multiple worksheets, hold down SHIFT, and then click the number of worksheet tabs you want to add in the open workbook. Then click Worksheet on the Insert menu.
When I hold down the shift button and enter 50 i get the "%" and ) sign entered on the open workbook and then I try to click worksheet from the insert tab and it is greyed out.
I'm trying to Filter a list by the criteria selected in a listbox, and activated by a command button. My problem is the sort criteria. I have 11 regions, numbered 01EPS through 11EPS. Sorting by any of these criteria works just fine.
The problem is that I also want to be able to sort by ALL of the regions at once. I can do this by using a custom filter. I recorded a macro to see what the difference was, and it simply a matter of changing 01EPS to "=*EPS". However, adding that to my case list results in an error message of "Compile Error: Syntax Error".
I am looking for a function to convert time given by my computer (Local time) in EST (Eastern Standard Time). We are several users of a same file (with timestamp macros) and all time need to be aligned to one time zone (EST), even if all users are working in different time zone (EST, CST and IST).
I am not sure that I can do this, but here is what I would like to do. I have a worksheet that I initial when I start a job in on cell and then when I finish in another cell. What I's like is to have a macro running in the back ground that will tell me the total elapsed time from when I started to when I finished.
I have a workbook with macro button to run some vba, if i want the button to disable when the user make copies of the workbook (date created is later than original wb saved time) what codes to add in the VBA?
what i assume is to add the time to a cell when the wb is saved, when the wb opens, it check for that cell if the same with the date created, if different, then disable the macro button.
Can I adapt this code so that users receive the alert if they try and go to the next field without filling in the required ones, or - better - to combine it with a code that does not run a macro, but instead gives the alert, if the required fields have been missed. (I don't require anything to do with printing, this was the closest code I could find)
Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean) If Sheet1. Range("A1").Value = "" Then MsgBox "Cannot print until required cells have been completed!" Cancel = True End If End Sub
I'm not sure why this is happening, but every other time I run this one specific macro, I get a "Run-time error '1004': Paste method of Worksheet class failed". I even tried running this macro, then running a different one, then running this again, but I still got the error every other time.
Every time I get the error, it highlights this line of Sheets("Regenerate Request").Paste
This is all of the code up to where I get the error:
Sub YesRegen() ' after user has hit Yes on the RegenerateRequest macro, this posts the new request to ' the log, generates the new file and attaches it to an email
I have a huge list of accruals and payments. Accruals (positive) are entered, and at a later date are offset by the payments (negative). Im trying to make a schedule so i can determine which are left over.
This is easy to do manually for a small amount of rows. However im dealing with 5000 rows and i do not want to manually match it would take many days to do.
Ive tried a duplicate remover. To get it to work i made an absolute value column for the negatives, and compared it to the positives column to find the duplicates. This works to a point. However, If i have three accruals for 100, and one payment for 100, all are identified as duplicates which obviously is not what im looking for.
I need to get it where one accrual is matched to one payment. if there are 3 accruals, 2 payments, 1 is not a duplicate. if there is 3 accruals, 1 payment, 2 are not duplicates.
For instance can I write "=A1 + B1" and have a change event the formula populate for the corresponding column that changes? such that a change in C7 for instance populated the result of the formula for A7 + B7 in cell D7?
I this, We are distributing work on 6 hrs/day basis. What I need is, I need to automate the work distribution on daily basis and should show the hrs also. and the projected date of completion. (yellow highlighted cells are where the formulas are needed)
How to go about fixing my spreadsheet so I am not having to manually update it each day..here is my forumla I am currently using...=(AVERAGE($D$2:$AH$2)-C5)*AI5...basically i need the cell below in D2 to change as every day a new day rolls off..for example the following day I need this formula to be =(AVERAGE($E$2:$AH$2)-C5)*AI5 ....so just that day changes.....do I need to use an If/then statement? if so how?
