Prevent Duplicates Between 2 Sheets
Feb 10, 2012I have 2 sheets, List 1 and List 2 Both lists contain generic part numbers in column A, so because there could be 2 manfacturers of the same part there will be duplication of the generic part number.
What I want is to prevent someone entering a generic part number in list 1, which already exists on list 2.
I there any cde which can be put in the sheet which will show an error message for this?

Oct 3, 2006How do I keep the same names from coming up on the same column when randomly generated there (I hit f9 and names randomly generate on my sheet)? I'm trying to integrate this fix into =IF(Override!G5>0, Override!G5, Shuffle!A34) formula. That formula is the formula that recieves the randomly generated names into the cells I have chosen. The override is so I can do just that if I dont like the generation of names.
example:
name 1
name 2
name 3
name 1 <---if that happens I want this cell to respond by reshuffling until it equals a name that is not in its column, but just that one cell, not the others.
Prevent Duplicates Being Added Via UserForm
Oct 5, 2007I am trying to prevent/remove duplicates and blank rows from occuring in a spreadsheet which is being populated via a Userform. The user must be able to add items to the spreadsheet during the normal course of work, so I guess that the blank line removal should occur when they exit the module or application.
However, duplicate prevention is particularly important as the data being captured pertains to products. Column A of the spreadsheet contains the product code and that will be the "watch" column. I have tried various options, particularly for removing blank rows and have so far have not had success.
Something that I have noticed is that when a new item is 'added' to the spreadsheet and the job is either cancelled or not saved, that a simple resize of the range through a recount of the rows to the first one empty does not remove the blank lines which is interesting too.
Prevent Duplicates In Formula Generating Same Names
Nov 7, 2006The following attacted program is a name generator. It randomly generates names from the Roster sheet to the shuffle sheet (to be randomized) then displays it on the watchbill sheet. The problem I'm having is that the names seem to be repeating themselves before the entire list is used at least once from the roster sheet. I need all the names to generate at least once then have it fairly repeat the names (but not in the same columns on the watchbill sheet). Can this be done using the formulas I have? I've been trying to figure this out forever, its just a little beyond my level.

May 17, 2008I have a userform with a combobox in it that's rowsource is a column of company names in a worksheet. When a company name is chosen, a combobox change private sub runs and many userform textboxes are populated with information about the company that was chosen from the combobox dropdown. This information is stored on a worksheet. I then want to edit any of the information in these textboxes. Once my edits are made I have a CommandButton that is pressed to save the edit changes. This CommandButton runs a private sub that disables the combobox (thinking this would prevent the combobox private sub from running), deletes the row that the information originated from, and then SHOULD make a new row of values based on the contents of the textboxes following the edits. The problem is that the CommandButton coding that deletes the row causes the combobox change private sub to run because the company that had been selected is now the missing from the rowsource; this causes an error.

The range "Watchlist_Source_Menu" is p4:p104. It works fin but if there are duplicates in that range it duplicates the choices in the ComboBox. Is there a way that I can only show unique choices and show them alphabetized in the combo box upon intializing the userform?

Aug 24, 2011In short, I would like a pivot table to only count unique values, but when I click into the pivot I would like to show all instances of that value. For example:
I have a table of data that I am creating a pivot table from. There are fields for Customer ID, Task Name, Age, and Notes. There will be multiple records for a single Customer ID each time it has new notes.
I would like to create a pivot table that has Task Name in the Row Labels, Age in the Column Labels, and count of Customer ID in the Values, so that, for example, I can see how many accounts have been in the Design task for 2 days. However, when I do this it counts each record, but I would like it to count each unique Customer ID. Also, when I click into the pivot, instead of pulling up one line per Customer ID, I would like it to pull up each instance of Customer IDs in that Task Name/Age combination (similar to doing a DISTINCT in SQL).

Mar 23, 2014I have a list of isometric drawing numbers ending with a [underscore]weld number e.g. 1692-SG-0040-04_05.
Some welds are repaired--in that scenario the amended weld number will be 1692-SG-0040-04_05R1, and even 1692-SG-0040-04_05R2 if repaired for a second time.
On occasion a weld may be cut out entirely and a new weld done. The weld number for that will be 6317-FG-1690-02_06C1.
And here's a wrinkle I've just verified...a cut weld may also be repaired so the weld number will look like 1698-SG-0077-01_04C1R1.
Is there a formula to count these as one weld:
1692-SG-0040-04_05
1692-SG-0040-04_05R1
1692-SG-0040-04_05R2
This as one weld:
6317-FG-1690-02_06
6317-FG-1690-02_06C1

An example of the data table 1 is:

I created a new table (table 2) and made a list of all the Products on table 1 and removed the duplicates. I now have 3 columns with titles New, 2nd and Flt as follows:

Product 1 XX XX XX
Product 2 XX XX XX
Product 3 XX XX XX
I am trying to count the duplicates for each product (XX), but I can't seem to work it out. I've tried the MS help function, but unsure of the actual formula I need to be using.
I am using Windows 7 and MS Office 2010.

Mar 30, 2009Am trying to get dynamic population of 2nd combobox based on match from criteria in combobox 1.
if column a = bears and column b = colours of bears then
when I select bears in combobox one, combobox 2 would populate with colors of bear.
I am think of having a combobox 1 change event that evaluates each row in a specific range (does it match the criteria?) if so, then add 2nd cell (column b) of that row to the combobox 2.
I know it would probably involve match and offset, add item and loop, but I am not sure what the syntax is.
Auto Populate 2nd Combobox Based On 1st Combobox Data

So from the above data, one combo box should hold unique values A & B.
On selecting a value from the 1st combo box A or B, respective values should be populated in 2nd combo box.
So the data should be like below:
If A is selected in the 1st combo box, then 2nd combo box should only show the values 1,2,3,4 & 5.
If B is selected in the 1st combo box, then 2nd combo box should only show the values 100,101 & 102.
Friends I need it in a macro and one important point is, this is dynamic and it is not static and the data can be more.

ComboBox Selection That Fills A TextBox And Other ComboBox
Sep 28, 2013I created a UserForm then linked ComboBox1 to range A2:A, TextBox2 to range E2:E, and ComboBox3 to range M2:M of the same worksheet, named Sheet3. The row contents in Column A, Column E, and Column M are associated. Therefore, when the UserForm is active I want to be able to select a row from Column A in ComboBox1 and have the UserForm pull the contents from the same row of Column E into TextBox2, and Column M into ComboBox3. Here is what I have so far, but its not quite doing it.

I'd like to choose the FirstName (say Jack) in the "FirstName" combobox, and based on that get the choice of the Surnames of all my Jacks in the "SurName" combobox.
Actually my sheet has much more fields and comboboxes, but i think my problem is just that I do not find a way to populate them dynamically.

I copied and pasted Column A into Column C and then removed duplicates. I named Column C 'ValList' and placed it in the RowSource for ComboBox1. What I now want is for ComboBox2 to populate based on my selection in ComboBox1. There are no duplicates in Column B. Duplicates are in Column A.
I also named Column A 'Proc_Grp' and Column B 'ADA_QSI_Desc'
For the properties in Combobox2, I left the RowSource empty. (that's correct right?) Because there's going to be a code that links Combobox2 to Combobox1... I think...

The first combobox shows the the first column (only 1 of each) and the second comboBox shows me the secondary list that correlates to the valuse in the first from column B. Now I have a text box that I am trying to get the value from column C depending on what I have in the first 2 comboboxes. What is the easiest way to do it? This is all in VB since it is a UserForm, and using Vlookup seems to be too many lines if I go that route. Is there a way to use Index and Match in VB where it would be more efficient? I attached just a sample of how the data would be layed out in the Excel sheet.

How do I get these values to a ComboBox.
2). If the above is possible and if I select a value in ComboBox say 08/07/2006, it should get updated in a particular cell say A1
So selection of 08/07/2006 in ComboBox, should reflect 08/07/2006 in cell A1.
Note: This ComboBox is on the UserForm and not on the Excel Sheet.
