The below code validates values in a combined range. Values can be a 0 or a 3-digit combo of values 0 through 4. The problem is that whenever the Delete key is pressed to delete an acceptable value, the msgbox appears. How can the msgbox appear ONLY if a user tries to enter a wrong value--the cells can be, and are, left null regularly, so the msgbox is annoying.
View 3 RepliesSince I practically never deliberately hit Control-2 through Control-5 -- and do hit them "more than never," I thought I'd grab them with the KeyPress event (or KeyDown?). Then it hit me that I'm not sure where it would go.
This is for every workbook so this would generically reside in personal.xls. ThisWorkbook doesn't seem like the right place; I want its scope to be ActiveWorkbook. Would it require a class module (actually, I already looked, and don't see any keyboard events under "App")?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using VBA to open several files and pull information from them into a workbook with the hopes of eventually outputting the information to a formatted text file that can be uploaded to a data transfer system that will fill out a form for me. The problem I am finding is that the workbook that I need to access has faulty VBA code that executes everytime the workbook is opened. I realize the easiest solution would be to fix the code that is faulty however the workbook that I am accessing is automatically generated for each product with the faulty code embedded requiring me to handle the error on the back end. Attached is my code and I attempted using error trapping to handle this issue but I've concluded that I either lack understanding of error trapping or the fact that the error is in a cascaded workbook complicates the error trapping code.

How do I trap the event when a user chooses to expand / collapse outlines (columns in this instance) on a worksheet?
Basicallly, when attempting to expand I want to prompt the user to enter a password and then unprotect the sheet. And if collapsing to prompt again and then protect the sheet. I have this bit covered, just not sure how to trap the event.

A2's validation is dynamic as it's selectables varies based on the selection made by the A1 Validation. (=indirect(a1)).
My problem is this....once if have selected from both validations...if I go back and change the A1 validation to a blank (or empty value) or clear the contents on that cell....validation A2's value remains as it was. I would like it to recognize that A1 is blank and also become blank (or goto an empty value).
I would like to know if it's possible to populate a data validation list based on what is selected from 4 validation lists?
for example:
On sheet1:
If 'Group1' is selected from data validation list1 then data validation list5 will show a list of all items from Group1. If 'Group2' is selected from data validation list2, then data validation list5 will display all the items in 'Group2'...
(I do not want to use a combo box for this)

All have cell references to the 1st worksheet (cell B5). I would like 2 things:
1. If users change one of the reference cells on the other worksheets I would like a msgbox to appear
2. After clicking the msgbox away I would like the "old" cell contents (the referenece) to be restored.

Hi, Please could someone help with the following code. I have 2 sheets 'sheet 1' and 'sheet 2'(hidden). Sheet 1 has a control button that takes you straight to sheet 2, however what I wish to achieve is that before sheet 2 is visible a message box appears if a condition is not met. Something like, if sheet 1 R29 is less than 5000 then msg box appears (I would need about 4 lines in the msg box), if ok'd then sheet 2 appears. If the condition is met i.e sheet 1 R29 = or is greater than 5000 then the msg box does not appear and takes the user to sheet 2.

I have several material takeoff sheets and one material SummarySheet in my workbook.
Each material takeoff sheet has a subtotal cell at the bottom of the sheet. The subtotals are added together and the total sum is displayed in a cell on the SummarySheet. At least that is how it is supposed to work. Excel or somebody else arbitrarily changed the cell reference in the SummarySheet formula to call up the cell one row above the subtotal cell on the material takeoff sheets. This little action resulted in a loss of $674,000 and may eventually result in my unemployment. Meanwhile I am sitting here putting out fires.
This is what I would like to do: Place a formula on the SummarySheet or add a Macro that will trigger a warning message box if the total on the SummarySheet is not equal to the sum of the subtotals on the material takeoff sheets. Also would like to have the message box animated or brightly colored.
