Aug 8, 2014I'm having trouble writing a forumla that will grab a second player from a list.
For example, there are 3 possible QB spots. I need a formula that will grab the 1st QB, the second QB if a 1st has already been selected and a 3rd if a 2nd has already been selected. This is what I have but it's not working right.

Formula Required To Calculate Points For Football Results Prediction
Aug 2, 2009I'm creating an (English) football predictions competition for me and my family.
One problem that has stumped me is how to get the scores based on the 'home' & 'away' score predictions.
The rules are: If I predict the correct exact result I get 3 points. I want to add another 'rule' whereby if I predict the correct winner, I get 1 point. Incorrect predictions get 0 points. I don't know how to do this using a formula.
Solver Solver To Calculate Through VBA
Jan 12, 2007I have to use use the solver to calculate something (a mean-variance framework).
I am using the solver to minimize a cartain cell (variance) by making two cells equal through (expected return) by varying 10 cells( weights of assets), but I have to repeat this for 500+ times (for different expected returns).
Someone told me that I could best use some sort of loop through VBA. But I don't have a clue how that works.
Calculate Individual Contribution On Customer Satisfaction For Entire Team
Oct 23, 2012I am planning to calculate the individual contribution on customer satisfaction % for the entire team.
Currently the layout looks roughly like this:
C2 - contains overall team Csat %
C4 - contains total number of surveys received
C9 -> C15 contains operator names
D9 -> D15 contains operator individual csat %
E9 -> E15 contains operatore number of csats received
Using the data above I thought I should be able to generate a number or % that would indicate the individual's contribution to the overall score.
Worksheet Formula - Spreadsheet For Fantasy Baseball League
Feb 3, 2007I am making a spreadsheet for my fantasy baseball league and I have it set up how I want it, minus the correct formula(s) to make it work.
Basically, I have 15 different tabs in one .xlsx file. The first 14 are each team and their players. The 15th is a huge ranking list of all the players in the league basically.
What I want to happen is, as I enter a name in any of the first 14 tabs, somehow on the 15th the corresponding name with be crossed out, colored, etc.
Multiple Solver Constraints In Solver
Sep 10, 2006I have a cell, D5, which is the sum of three other cells, A5 B5 and C5. (all currently empty). Cells A1 through C4 are filled with various numbers.
What I've been trying to do is use solver to say: Make D5 equal 200, do it by manipulating only A5 B5 and C5, and make it subject to the constraint that A5 must equal a value selected from A1:A4, and B5 must equal a value from B1:B4, and C5 ...etc. I have deliberately set it up so that there is only one solution.
I was doing fine until trying to create the constraints. How can I make a constraint that says "this cell" must equal "one of the following cells"? And if I can't do that, is there an alternate method of achieving the same result?
Finding Optimal Sizes Of Stock To Cut From?
Jun 11, 2014can buy stock glass in several standard sizes. Specifically:
12x16
16x20
20x24
22x28
24x30
24x36
26x32
32x40
36x48
40x60
I use these stock sizes - to cut custom sized pieces. Example - if I have a piece that calls for a 15x18 - I will take a 16x20 piece and cut it down. I have all different kinds of size combinations that come up and am looking for a way for Excel to calculate the most efficient stock size to start with. Trying to do so using a series of Vlookups and if then's - but seems to be overly complicated and not always accurate.
Finding Optimal Combination In A Matrix
Nov 13, 2009I've been assigned a task of finding a combination of three or four machines. For example AD,AJ,AQ, and AB would equal 7 therefore it would be the best combination of workstations for that cell. However, I'm having an issue that if AD, AJ, AQ, and AB are being selected more than once.
My question is, how can I analyze all the data and determine the best combination given the relationships for each row given the column.
3 = Absolutely Necessary
2 = Extremely Necessary
1 = Necessary
0 = Do not associate

I have a software(Palisade Risk) which can give out a random sampling of this solution space. I need to know how many combinations can be considered as a representative sample of this solution space - e.g. can it be 1%?.

Feb 27, 2014I am creating a box CBM optimizing tool at work for shipping our products internationally so that the sales department and logistics can estimate shipping costs and weights with out needing me to physically pack everything in advance. I have broken every product we sell into individual CBM's as well as the boxes that we use to ship. I have also set it up to give a break down of "boxes needed" to accommodate the approximated CBM by box size.
How to create a function that will take that info and calculate which combination of boxes will utilize the available space... In other words, how do i take my break down of the 6 box sizes available, with the "# of boxes needed" data i already have, and have it tell me which combination of boxes will utilize the maximum percentage of space, or leave the least amount of unused space based off of the cumulative CBM being shipped.

Jul 10, 2008I created a automated football league with 5 teams in it that updated the team positions
(moved them up and down)as the new data was added in the secondary table and i used this type of formula in the secondary table on a rank system to rank positions according to points/wins/goal/difference/ect this also places the appropriate teams in alphabetical order in case the teams have equal stats
=RANK(O4,$O$4:$O$13)+RANK(G4,$G$4:$G$13)/10+RANK(N4,$N$4:$N$13)/100+RANK(F4,$F$4:$F$13)/1000+RANK(E4,$E$4:$E$13)/10000+1/100000
and this formula in the primary table that updates its self
=SMALL($A$4:$A$13,1) in the ranking
and this type of formula to transfer the data to the appropriate destination from the secondary table to the self adjusting primary table
ie points/ goals/ect
=INDEX($A$4:$O$13,MATCH($A22,$A$4:$A$13,0),4)
my question is i now want to extend my table to 24 teams so can i still use this ranking system as the range of 10/10000 only seems to let me use 10 teams( not tested yet)not sure how it works
Football Odds Calcultion
Jul 5, 2009I am compiling odds for football matches using the last 16 match outcome data for each team. Basically I need a solution or formula that counts the number of home wins, away wins and draws for each team in the last 16. This would basically mean allowing for the latest match outcome added into and then eliminating the 17th match back so that formulas from the last 16 matches only are always calculated. I envisage having a the data in a row of of 16 columns for each eam.

And completely wrong the cell is to be left blank. I have managed to create this formula ;

However the only outcome that will not work is if the match predicted is a 0-0 Draw and people who predicted say 1-1 should get 1 point.

The scoring works like this
10 points for a completely correct result and score for both teamse.g. 1-0 prediction and 1-0 result
7 points for a correct result but a correct score for only 1 teame.g. 1-0 prediction and 2-0 result
5 points for a correct result but no correct score for either teame.g. 1-0 prediction and 2-1 result

Displaying Message Box For Top Scores In Football Pool
Dec 6, 2009I have a football pool I am doing with my family. I would like a macro that displays a message box that tells me the leaders of the pool using the grand total number. So in my attachment, the message box would say something like:
Sue is in first place with 12 points,
Bob and Dave are in second place with 9 points,
Larry is in third place with 3 points
It doesn't need to be exactly like that, but you get the gist of what I am looking for. The catch here is that the grand total row changes each week as I add games in, so the row moves down every week. I need the macro to stay with the grand total row from week to week.

Formula Required- Football Predictions Spreadsheet
Feb 12, 2009A pal at work runs a football predictions spreadsheet but due to a recent surge in numbers, it is taking longer to adminster each week.
Basically, you get 3pts for a spot on home score, 4pts for a spot on draw, 5pts for a spot on away win and only 1pt if you get a correct result but not the actual scoreline, with no points being scored for being completely wrong.
At the moment, he manually inputs 0,1,3,4 or 5 pts each Monday, of course this is open to human error. Is there a way of getting excel to calculate this for him once he inputs the correct score in the first column?

Jan 21, 2009I want to use solver program. But when solver "changes cells" i want it to trigger my pivot tables in the workbook. So i added the code to my worksheet:

Random Team Generator?

We have 20 people who will be organized into 10 teams of two. how to setup the formula to have two people randomly paired together without duplication. The names will be further used in other formulas for points calculations.
So, I have the names as A1:A20 and then would like the teams generated from B1:B10 and C1:C10 with the team being the row and the team members in the B and C columns.

Keep Tally Of Team Scores
Jan 19, 2008I need to create a sheet probably involving macros where I enter a numerical value into a cell (say B5) I want the sheet to assign a score to the value I enter and then add the score it generates to a table of values. Once ths is done I need it to automatically clear the original value I entered ready for me to enter a new value - rinse repeat..
e.g.
into B5 I enter 15 - on the right in the results table there are headings v w x y and z
say 15 scores one point for w and one point for z I want the sheet to add 0 to the totals under v,x & y and add 1 to the totals under w and z.
Then I want the sheet to clear cell B5 so I can enter a new value without manually deleting the previous entry.
If I can also copy the value I enter into a "history" which simply lists all the values I enter as I go along so much thebetter.

Jun 25, 2008I need to create a full list of fixtures for a football (Soccer) league i am involved in.
i believe this is a multi stage project that i need to tackle in bite size chunks.
I have a list of teams, division that they play in and there home stadium name.
my spreadsheet has 2 sheets visible at the mo...
Rules:
I need to create a list of all games that require to be played.
All teams in the same division must play each other twice, once at the home stadium of each club.
Only division 1 clubs play against other division1 clubs
Only division 2 clubs play against other division2 clubs
I need a full list of matches to be generated in my worksheet called "required Matches"
