BeforeSave, Create Folder & Sub-foldername If Has Not Been Created
Oct 13, 2004
Example below is in my macro and when my peer is running this worksheet which has Workbook_Open() enabled in "ThisWorkbook", the outcome is that he can not successfully save this workbook because he doesn't have the folder and sub directory in his C: drive.
How do I code it such that in the event the user does not have the specified folder and sub-foldername, it will automatically create one for him and save it as "C:Spare PartsCritical ListStocking Status.xls".
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
"C:Spare PartsCritical ListStocking Status.xls"

I am having trouble getting a copy of current workbook to save (with a hopefully unique name) into a vba created folder. The folder creates fine on any drive that I have access to, but the workbook never turns up. The code is only an extract from the whole but it still fails in isolation.
Sub Macro1()
Copyit:
Dim fso
Dim fol As String
Dim flag As String
fol = "E:Excelb4macrobackups" ' change to match the folder path
Ans5 = MsgBox("Create Backup of " & ActiveWorkbook.Name & "?" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & " Backup File Path:" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & fol, vbYesNoCancel + vbExclamation)
If Ans5 = vbNo Then Exit Sub
If Ans5 = vbCancel Then MsgBox "Procedure Terminated!", vbExclamation: Exit Sub.........

I have the following macro set up to create a folder in a directory as per the contents of 2 cells
C2 = Folder name to be created
B2= Date for previous working day
[code]....
I then have another macro that moves files into a specified folder within the same location ( I then manually move them into the folder the first macro created)
Is there a way I could get the files to move to the newly created folder without me having to do it manually.

I have a folder called 'Refresh'. Every week a new file is dropped into that folder. Instead of me placing that new file into my workbook, i would like my macro to just grab it. Is there a way for VB to grab the most recently created file that comes into my 'Refresh' Folder.

I have a Workbook that is located in a Networked Folder and is used by several people every day. The Workbook has a lot of VBA and also has links to other workbooks. I am noticing that over time there are several extra files being created from this excel workbook, in the same folder. The Workbook is the only file in this folder. They are not associated with any program and are just a File Type. They are titled a series of 8 random Letters and Numbers and range is size from 700 KB to about 1 MB (Slightly smaller then the Workbook file size).
Also, Is possible to automatically delete these files when they are not needed? or better yet is there some way to Prevent these files from being created in the first place?

I have a userform that has one combobox at the top created manually. When the userform is opened, the user select an option in the combobox (these options are taken from a range on 1 worksheet). From the selection of the combobox, I use the comboxbox's change event to create and display 5 columns of textboxes and 2 columns of command buttons on the userform.
The number of rows of textboxes created depend on the option selected from the combobox since each option links to a different range of cells. Each of the 5 textboxes in each are set to be ".enabled = False" and display text as per the cell values within a range on another worksheet. 2 Columns of command buttons are created at the end of each row of textboxes - 1 is enabled and the other is not.
The creation of the textboxes and command buttons works as required. However, I am having problems with setting click events for each command buttons. When the 1st column of Command buttons are created, I need the click events to be created and filled out with 2 actions:
1. Enable all textboxes in the same row as the command button
2. Enable the other command button in the same row.
Here is the code I have so far that creates the textboxes and command buttons.
Each of the 5 textboxes and 2 command buttons have a unique name so the 1st row will have textbox and command button names of cTxtA1, cTxtB1, cTxtC1, cTxtD1, cTxtE1, CmdAmend1 and CmdConfirm1. The 2nd row will have the same names but with 2 on the end and so on. The bold sections is the code for the creation of the command buttons that I want click events for.
Code:
Private Sub CboTeamSelect_Change()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
If CboGroupSelect.Value = "" Then Exit Sub
Dim cTxtA As Control, cTxtB As Control, cTxtC As Control, cTxtD As Control, cTxtE As Control
Dim CmdAmend As Control, CmdConfirm As Control
Dim iNum As Integer
Dim TxtTop As Long
[code]....

I have the following code that (should) either save the file with a generic name if a value exists in a certain field, or else save the file as the contents of the value in the field, with a message box appearing in either case. The problem is, the message box appears twice (not once) and then Excel crashes! Can anyone tell me what's going on? The code is:
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)
Dim FSR As String
FSR = Range("I7").Value
If FSR = "" Then
MsgBox "Service Report Number not entered."
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="Service Report Navilas.xls"
End If
If FSR "" Then
MsgBox "This action will save the file as the Service Report Number."
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=FSR & ".xls"
End If
End Sub

I am trying to find out more info regarding the BeforeSave workbook event, need example of a short procedure that would prevent the user from saving the workbook with the current workbook name, and would automatically force the file to save as a web page? I'm sorry that I don't have any examples of code that I'm working with, and it feels pretty juvenile to just ask someone to write code for me. But I haven't been able to get past step one with this.

I have a spreadsheet that I'm working on and I'd like to include a beforesave macro to format the spreadsheet. Basically I need a macro to select all rows with data in column 'a' and add a thick border to the top of the cells. Ideally the border would stop at column 'i' but that's not essential. I've attached an example of what I'd like. I've included 2 sheets 1 called 'before' and 1 called 'after'. They show what I'm after.

I'm trying to create a link to a folder and to insert it in a cell. The folder name is: "C:DISCO CTEMPLATES #1". I tried to copy that text and paste it into the cell. Excel recognizes that as a hyperlink but when I click the cell a message appears: "Cannot open the selected file" Could the problem be because of the "#" symbol?

I don't know if anyone has tried this but it possible using vba to create a new folder in a directory from the text of a textbox?
I have made a userform that I use to collect a persons first name & surname.
I then created a folder in a directory manually (e.g Z:spnzphotos)
I then scan their photo and place it into the folder.
Is it at all possible to have a piece of code that once I press a command button is creates folder ready for me to add the photo to?

In the situation where I shut down my model (i.e. not just press Ctrl+S, but shut it down), the following code saves the model twice. I only want it to save once. I really can't see why it saves a second time.
NB: I know if you set Cancel to True in the BeforeSave event, it should prevent the model from saving after the event, but even when set to true in the below code, it still saves...
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
bIsClosing = True 'Given we shut model, this public bIsClosing is set to true...
End Sub
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)
Dim wsArray() As Variant
Dim iCnt As Integer
Dim wsSht As Worksheet
Application. ScreenUpdating = 0
Splash.Visible = True 'Splash is codename for warning spreadsheet, this is left
'visible while all other sheets are to be hidden.......................

I'm having a little trouble making this code work correctly. This macro, Once finished, is connected to a (Save) command button. Here is what is suppose to happen, First thing to remember is another sheet (Sheet1) has been populated with various information which is used as a receipt. The information came from sheet2. I need to copy sheet1 just as it is, format included, create a new empty sheet, paste the information into the new sheet, name the new sheet with the values from cells in sheet2, E3, D3, and the date formatted as the month and year only. Then I need to create a folder in the my documents folder named from the values from sheet2, E3, D3, and todays date with the current time. If the folder already exists, then I just need it to change to that folder, and save the newly created worksheet (as named above) into that folder. After the save is executed, I need to delete that new sheet from the current workbook. Then I need to return to sheet2 to the last active cell and run the last few lines of code which collects the value of the cell 1 to the right of the active cell and transfers it to the cell 1 to the left of the active cell.
VB:
Public Sub Button11_Click()
Dim wShell, fso, strFldr, xdir As String
Dim newbal As String
[Code].....
