View 1 RepliesI have a workbook that has a main sheet which provides stats from other sheets within the workbook. I have a hyperlink which goes to a certain place of sheet 2 and the displayed text shows the contents of a cell on sheet 2.
I know it's possible to have the hyperlink go to a certain cell on another workbook as opposed to worksheet, but I cant display the contents of a cell on another workbook as the text on the hyperlink.
I have cells which already contain text, which I need to keep. But I want to add a rollover hyperlink to make them changes colour when the mouse hovers over them.
unfortunately the only way I know how to do this is to add a formula to the cells in question (mid programming) but I cant because that will erase the text I already have.
If, say cell A1, contains text such as:
"This Forum is wonderful, to see a great example for a post click here." <This is not an actual link here!>
Is it possible to have the "click here" part as a hyperlink, and not the entire cell?
Or- do i have to add an "image" or something similar to which i can add the hyperlink and then anchor the "image" to that cell?
in order to hyperlink a single peice of text in a cell and not the whole cell I have created a shape with no fill or line but added text. I then hyperlinked it to a location in the workbook. When I set the Move and size with cell property I am not geting the expected result. If I resize a row well above that cell, the object isn't following the cell it wa placed in. I would be happy with alternative mechanisms for putting independantly linked text.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have inherited multiple spreadsheets with thousands of hyperlinks in a single column, from all of which I need to extract the hyperlink text to audit it and edit it. The hyperlinks are only displaying less than useful words such as "Go To" "View" or "Click Here", for example.
Manually, I can right-click on the cell, select Edit Hyperlink, press Ctrl+End to select the entire link, press Ctrl+C to copy it, click on OK to close the editing dialogue, then paste it in the destination cell. That's easy, and good if you only have a few to do, but very tiresome if you have more than a dozen. Life's too short to do all those I need to do manually with a 29 day deadline!
I tried setting up a Macro to do it for me, but couldn't get it to work down a column and paste the result in the destination cell on the same row as each successive cell was located. I do very little Macro work, and I find Excel to be less than intuitive in this respect, so I gave up. (At least in Word you can see the whole step-by-step process in the Macro Editing window and easily fix it, if need be...).

Should I set up a Macro and insert the above Function into it? Or is there a completely different way to do it? how to do this in Excel 2003/WinXP is very welcome.
I have a spreadsheet where when cell is clicked, it opens the hyperlink dialogue and allows a user to insert a hyperlink into the cell next to it.

So if the cell AA8 is click it allows the user to insert a hyperlink and the hyperlink is pasted in to the cell AB8.
What I need: Is for the cell AA8 to say "Click to Add Hyperlink" and then once a hyperlink is added AB8 to say in the cell "Hyperlink to Folder".
I have this code that looks through my worksheet once the conditions are met it will email, and in column "M" I put a hyperlink to where the document is stored. All works as far as the email format, even grabs the hyperlink but it’s not clickable in the email.

I have a table which says that this is the amount of coloured cells we have in another sheet.
For e.g.

Item Description 5
Now, the item description column has 5 cells in another sheet which are filled in with "Yellow" Colour. So what i want to do is to click on this 5 in sheet 2 in this case as per the attached sample which takes me to the filtered result on sheet1 of 5 yellow coloured cells under the column of Item description including an additional filter of Code "A"
I have a hyperlink cell. Straightforward copying and pasting it to another cell works well, with the new cell replicating the hyperlink. However, if I try to copy the hyperlink cell to a range of cells (say B1 to B5), at first it looks ok, but once I click one of them, it appears they are all clicked. And if I delete one of the cells in the range, say B3, ALL cells within that range loses its hyperlink. It looks like all of these hyperlinks are referencing one another, but once I delete one cell, the rest loses its hyperlink (the words are still there). At the current time, I have to copy into the range individually (copy to B1, then B2, then B3...etc), but this becomes a hassle if I have a large range.

I have several hyperlinks that may or may not contain data, the linked cell will display "0" if there is no data. When I print I dont want the "0"s printing.
How do I make the cell display nothing when a hyperlink cell is nothing?
At the top of my worksheet, I have a summary table of four regions. These take subtotals from the rows below, which are grouped by each region
I would like to create hyperlinks in my summary table to then go directly to the row below it relates to, however, because I insert and delete rows, I'm not sure how to make my hyperlinks dynamic.
E.g. Four regions are A, B, C and D A is currently found in A10, B in A25, C in A40 and D in A60
If I insert 3 rows above row 15, A is still in A10, B is now in A28, C in A43 and D in A60 (to confirm, summary table and linked cells are all on the same worksheet)
How can I make the hyperlinks in the summary table change automatically so that when clicked it takes me straight to the new row location instead of the previous one?

A data sheet that can stretch to thousands of records which each span around twenty (ish) rows; and a sheet I arrive at via a macro which contains rows with selected data from the records in the first sheet. Column A in the second sheet contains row numbers corresponding to the start of a chunk of data in the first sheet. I have a number of sheets with a "target" cell in specified rows that contains text and a hyperlink to a file (JPG or GIF). I need to modify the filename and pathname according to other values in other cells, then update the target cell text and hyperlink.
So far i have the old filename, path and hyperlink A also have the new filename, path and hyperlink And, i can set the target cell new text.
But how do I set the new hyperlink? I've tried variations on the theme of Range.Hyperlinks(1).Add Address = newHL but nothing seems to work - run time error 438.

Trying to create a button that, once clicked performs the following task:
Checks whether the text in a cell in the column X2:X40 matches the text in a cell in the Range A2:U14.
If it does, the formatting of the cell in X2:X40 (eg background) must change to match that of the corresponding cell in A2:U14.
Only 1 cell in the range will match 1 cell in the column
For example:
Before click:
Cell A9 has "John" written in it and a yellow background
Cell X4 has "John" written in it and a clear background
During click:

I have 2 tabs in a 2013 workbook. Inventory Receipts and lookups. One of the Data verification lookups I have is a drop down list in each cell in Column B (eg: Cat, Dog, Mouse) In the lookups tab I have another cell range containing the sounds (eg: Meow, Bark, Squeak).
What I am trying to acheive is, if B2 contains Cat, then return Meow in B3, if B2 contains Dog then return bark in b3 and if B2 contains Mouse return squeak in B3. Ideally I would like the formula to return the text from my lookup sheet (eg: 'Lookups'!C2,'Lookups'!C3,'Lookups'!C4). So depending on which option they choose from my animal drop down list .. the correct noise would automatically fill in.
I have four cells that contain text. All have connected check boxes with TRUE FALSE.
I need to be able to select anyone one of these cells with a check box, and have it's text appear in one separate cell eg: A1.
I have no issue connecting check boxes etc. I have no issue reproducing the text from any of these cells into multiple cells with a check box. But they have to be selectable and reproducing in one cell only (eg"A1").

I have a master spreadsheet listing various forms that have to be completed on a monthly basis which are on separate worksheets. I want to be able to put a hyperlink on the master sheet to take the user to that particular form but also to the next month's entry, eg, once Jan, Feb and Mar have been completed, then the hyperlink will take the user to April, etc. Pretty simple I thought??? Not so...... I've found this formula:

which goes down the column, however I want it to go across the row (my form needs the months to go across, not down). My (very limited) understanding of this formula is: reference sheet 2, count non-blanks in column A and go to the next cell down????
So my question is, can this formula be adapted to count non-blanks across a row, or is this a bit of a red herring? Also, what does the # denote on this formula??!!!!!, I cannot find anywhere that says what this is trying to do.
I have a table which as a few columns, the left column is called name and the far right one is called email. The name cells have a drop down list which refers to another workbook with peoples names, when you select a name other cells are automatically populated using the vlookup function such as phone number, email etc. In the workbook it is referencing too with all the data, the email address are like a hyperlink which creates an outgoing mail if you click on it, is there a way to have this in the table as nothing happens when you ckick on the text.
