I have a macro that should run a procedure if the worksheet is protected, and a different one if the worksheet is unprotected. With which code can I check if the worksheet is protected?

Excel 2007 - need to adjust protected view settings but the protected view tab is missing from my Trust Centre settings - have the following tabs - trusted publisher / location, add-ins, activeX, macro, message bar, external content and privacy options. Document is a revenue authority download and without being able to adjust the protected view settings, can't input data.

Just wondering if it is possible to have a formula in a cell but over write it with other digits while preserving the underlying formula?
I can lock the sheet/workbook but cant edit the cells once this is done?
I'm hoping to be able to delete what ever I have overwritten and for the formula to then take effect again.
I've created a spreadsheet that I want to offer for sale.
I've protected all cells with formula and those not needed to use the program. The only cells that can be selected/changed are those that need the values for the calculations.

When the Protection is on, the search function does not work. You call it up, write what you are looking for, it accepts it, and then when you tell it to search it ignores you.
When you turn the protection off, the search function works just fine.
HOWEVER....Other workbooks I have with protection on its sheets do not share this problem, just this one workbook. And the problem is on all sheets in this workbook. The problem is not on any of the sheets in the other workbooks. I can't see anything different between them, but then I may not know what to look at.
I have this workbook to keep track of current and new work for the team - each individual inputs information on their own tab.
In turn, the current information is displayed on a summary page so we can all see who's doing what.
I want to protect that summary page and its formulas from accidental amendment.
However, while the summary page (when unprotected) updates as soon as someone enters new information on their own tab, the summary page won't update when I have it protected.
Is there any way of doing this - preferably without VBA as it's a work situation and the employer doesn't like VBA code running?

Q1. How can we insert new rows in a protected sheet?
For example: In the attached sample protected excel sheet "insert rows.xlsx" , if for Employee ID and Name fields, the user has more no. of records than provided, how can he insert new rows considering the fact that Company ID and Name field are locked.
Or any way to address this issue via some other method like adding a scrollbar,etc.

It's a simple macro which erases the content in (some) cells, nothing more. Even those celles are formatted as unlocked the macro fails.
I've locked certain columns on my worksheet so that users cannot overtype target dates etc. I've password protected the worksheet.
The password protection means that for some reason the users can't use the autofilters that are on the header row.
Can someone help me solve this problem; I still need the locked cells and password protection on the sheet but the success of the sheet depends on users being able to filter for specific rows using the autofilter....
I have protected several sheets in my workbook to protect the forumlas and data for being tempered with by the users.
When I try to run my macro, I get an error message stating:
Runtime '1004'
You can not use this command on a protected sheet

The coding of the actual changes in the different modules is performing fine ...
But, I am stuck .. with two instructions : how to remove Add In password, and, how to set its IsAddIn property to false .
Password protected VBA module causes Excel to crash on debugs. Macros work fine if I open VBE and enter my password.
I'm using Range.("This range does not exist").Select to force a debug.
If I run my macro without entering my module password, the debug window appears and Excel crashes.
If I run my macro after entering my module password, the VBE window opens and it debugs normally.
I'm 90% sure the password protection is the problem. I want to keep my code password protected, but I don't want my project to crash on an error.
When I protect my sheet and have the option to allow the users to autofilter the sheet, how come it doesn't work? I want to allow people to autofilter the data in the worksheet but not modify the contents of the cell.

I've built a workbook using Excel 2000 that uses several combo boxes. When I try to protect the workbook the combo boxes become locked, even when I have done FORMAT CONTROL / PROTECTION and unticked the LOCKED box. Is this normal?. I also have data validation cells and they work fine if I unlock them and Protect the workbook. As a result, I am thinking of converting the combo boxes to data validation cells, but should I even need to do this

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that if you already have a workbook protected and then run code that will protect it, it will become unprotected! (I have a line of code to protect the workbook in the workbook_open event; incase the last user unprotected the book on the last use). Apparently it doesn't work like protected worksheets, where if the sheet is password protected and you have code that tries to reprotect it with a different password nothing will happen. I can not find a way to check if the workbook is protected (and if so skip, but if not then protect). Worksheets have "activesheet.protectcontents" to tell you True/False.

it has 2 Modules:
one unraveling protection from cells protected and restore it to all Sheets in a single step
And the second controls printing process to make it only for rows that conaining date in the predetermined columns
that latter is to break the protection, execute printing and re protection again without user intervention
The strange thing is : after protecting these modules from being viewd by users as it contains THE PASSWORDS .....

Because in these lines i have write some text and overcomes the rows, after, what i do is: i unmerge the rows and choose 3 rows from 5 columns together and merge. Thus, the text is in one framework. In fact, every time, i want to merge different regions, but always i want to merged any areas who have marked with the mouse.
