Auto Populate Cells With Corresponding Data From Different Worksheet?
Nov 26, 2012
I'm trying to figure out a way to populate multiple cells automatically with certain information after entering info into a single cell on a separate worksheet in a separate workbook.
Our "master" sheet has 22 total columns (A-V), and our weekly "status" sheet only has 7 total columns (A, E, P, L, M, N, R).
Column A on both sheets is labeled "Sample Number". On the "status" sheet I want to be able to type, for instance, "2012-228" into A2 and have the corresponding values from Columns E, P, L, M, N, R on the "master" sheet automatically populate into B2-G2 on the status sheet if this is at all possible.
I have inherited a number of databases in work (running Office 2003). It has quickly become apparant that a vast amount of work is duplicated and so i am trying to cut down the data input and therefore the possible errors.......
I have narrowed most of the work down and now have a major worksheet (is that what you call a complete Excel file) named "master database" and several over minor files....
Currently what i am trying to do is to get the minor files (68 seperate files) to auto populate an area of the master database. I will try to explain it below...
1. Minor database has 2 columns with data i require to auto populate the master database. (1 column (B) is called 'off', the 2nd column (C) is called 'on').
2. A number will be inputed manually into either 'B' only or 'B and C' columns, depending on the criteria of the job..
3. The criteria of the job is dictated by column (Z) where the text 'A' or 'ATL' is inputed
4. The master database i would like to add up the numbers inputed as a total from columns 'off' and 'on' and place them into seperate columns 'E' and 'G' of the master database.
5. IF column (Z) shows 'A' then only column (B) 'off' is to be calculated and put into the master database at column (E)
6. IF column (Z) shows 'ATL' then BOTH columns (B and C) 'on' AND 'off' are to be added together and column (G) populated on the master database.....
To make matters more complex. An expiry date is shown on the master database at columns (D) and (F). IF column (E) does not exceed 12 by the expiry date, i would like the cell (D) to turn red IF column (G) does not exceed 10 by the expiry date, I would like the cell (F) to turn red
I have two worksheet. One worksheet is a form where in the Field Door No. should be a dropdown list. The list will be retrieve from worksheet Source. Now upon selecting a specific Door No. it should also autopopulate the respective Type, Brand, Serial No., and Type.
First thing i need to know is what should i do on Cell B1 worksheet Form for it to be a drop down list retrieving the Column A on worksheet Source.
Second, upon selecting for example ATC0009 on the drop-down, it should auto-populate like these
Door No. ATC0009 Type AT Crane Brand A Serial 43679 Type Crane
I have never really used VBA and so am completely stuck at this problem. I need to create a macro which auto-populates a master worksheet from the individual user sheets in a shared workbook. Sheet 1 is the master sheet "Team Stats". There will be an undetermined number of individual worksheets to accomodate new staff. Each worksheet will be identical, using columns A-I with row 1 having the headings:
Date, Name, Reference, Value, Price, Age, Purchased?, Destination, Add. Products (the last 3 columns will have a drop-down list which will be used to enter data into the cell). There will be a varying number of rows in each of the individual sheets. If possible I would like the macro to run every time data is entered into one of the individual worksheets. If this is not then it would be fien to update every time the workbook is opened.
My sheet goes from monday to friday on the coulombs. On the rows i have various data sections for each day. I would like the data on the last day (any day after monday) that there is data for a sheet to input that data into the monday slot when the "master date" is changed on the cheese sheet. The idea here being that the script will take the last entered data for a given sheet, and put it into the monday coulomb on the same sheet when the date is changed. This is kind of hard to explain so if you need clarification let me know. Attached is the sheet i'm working with.
I have a database in the form of a spreadsheet with the following column headings: A=DATE (3 letter abbreviation for the month...jan, feb, mar, etc) B=Client C=City D=State E=Department F=Contract number
Is there a formula that I can enter in another worksheet (which is being used as a report), that will "grab" the monthly data for all entries for a given month (i.e. "mar"), and auto-populate corresponding cells with each?
I am trying to add some code that will auto populate cells based on entries and list selections. In the attached spreadsheet, when information is added to cells in column 'A', the date should auto populate the cells in column 'C'. When a status of "Complete" is selected from the dropdown box in cell 'B', the date should auto populate in the cell in column "D".
The code partially works in that it will auto populate columns "C" and "D", but the code errors out every time and I have to cancel the error to continue to the next entry.
I have my projection formulas that use the date and age to estimate production on each farm. Basically the age is calculated first and then the production rate is estimated. I have been trying to figure out if, instead of having a formula in each cell, can I use VBA to populate the ages and then the production.
Here is an example:
FarmAge8/22/09Age8/29/09Age9/5/09Age9/12/09Age9/19/09Age9/26/09Age10/3/09Farm 1 34181351813617937179381793917940177Farm 2 39223402204122042220432204422045218 All the functions I have created work, I just can't have the worksheet auto-calculate due to the total number of cells with functions. Calculating the worksheet takes approx 1 min...
I should be able to adjust any code to the ranges needed, but this example shows the basic layout.
I need to auto populate an excel spreadsheet however it has 3 criteria to match. Pressure, size and name. I need to somehow lookup the name and if it matches the pressure rating and size then return the quantity in that cell. There is 2000 cells and I am sure there is a logic function or someway to complete this task faster then manual entry.
I am looking to auto generate a roster/schedule. I have a spreadsheet with shifts for each weekday that I need to populate every week with names to pick from a drop down list. the drop down list is made using data validation and looks at a dynamic named range to allow me to select only the people who are available to work a certain shift.
I have 5 columns: A, B, C, D & E of which I have drop downs for: Yes, No, Maybe, Not Sure for A, B, C, & D. I need column E to offer a hyperlinked mailto:email@example.com when A, B, C have Yes, Maybe or Not Sure selected. If Yes, Maybe or Not Sure is selected for D, I need to have a hyperlink mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org. When no is selected for any of them, I need to have it say None.
I have a column of values (E4:E87). I'm adding 1 value to this column manually each day...so tomorrow (July 24th) I will have E4:E88...and so forth. Each day is a new row.
In column Z (i.e. cell Z87) I have the formula =(SUM(O53:O87))/(SUM(E53:E87)). Z88 will have =(SUM(somevalue:O88))/(SUM(somevalue:E88)). This gives me a resulting percentage for a rolling period of time.
I need an automated way to populate "O53" and "E53" ("somevalue") in the formula so that the SUM of the current row's cell (i.e. E88) through [whatever] is 50 or greater. (The sum of the values should be as small as possible, but at least 50, and should not include any older values than absolutely necessary for it to equal at least 50.)

What i would need is a script so that it doesn't look at those specific cells but a range of cells and every time the button is clicked it will fall into the first empty cells.
So example when button is clicked Case 1 if cells C242 has something look at cell C243 If cell C243 has something look at cell C244 If cell C244 has nothing then enter data that goes with that button. I have around 6 to 7 different buttons.
I am trying to build a Calendar that pulls all of it's entries from data submitted via user form. To be more clear, I built a basic user form in VBA where I can submit this data: name, brief description, Time/duration, and date. Instead of the data I enter into the form populating in specific cells in my Excel workbook, I would like for the information to be populated into a calendar based on the date.
I am building a budget spreadsheet and would like the date to automatically populate in column H when data is entered into rows J through AN, or alternately update column H when a sum total is populated in column I
I need to repeat this for rows 4 through 63
I was trying to use the following code, but cannot get it tweaked right.
I need to have cell data on sheet 1 to populate cells / rows on sheet 2 when the data is sorted on Sheet 1.
So let me explain: I have workloads on each row in Sheet 1. Column A has a list of people that I assign to each workload. After assigning a name in Column A to each row, I sort Column A by the user to print out only their workloads.
Currently, we have a paper worksheet where they manually write in their workload. I have replicated this worksheet on Sheet 2 and was wondering if I could use the data in Sheet 1 after being sorted by user, to populate the worksheet on Sheet 2 ?
I am trying to create an easy fill spreadsheet for a game. I am looking to have data values auto fill based off of the entry of 2 prior drop down menus.
I would like to have values for "Move", "Str", "Spd", "Skill", "Armor", and "Value" auto populate after the "Race" and "Role" has been selected. Data for these auto fills I have put on Sheet2 while the main file itself is on Sheet1.
If possible I would like to have Value increase by 5 for every level in "Rank" on the sheet.
I'm trying to get some vba to automatically find the range of data in a spreadsheet (So start from a specified point and loop until it's blank) and populate a combobox with this range accordingly. I have read numerous articles and posts but nothing seems to work!!
I'm trying to make a spreadsheet that can be used to easily build a collective list of steps, for a user to read and follow line-by-line.
I want a source sheet of "steps" that I can change over time, and the resulting tabs that reference the source sheet get updated/populated automatically.
I've pieced together some VBA code from other sources, which kind of does what I want it to:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Row > 1 And Target.Column = 1 Then Dim SourceSheet As Worksheet Set SourceSheet = ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Steps") Dim TargetSheet As Worksheet Set TargetSheet = Target.Worksheet Dim c As Integer Dim Source As Range
But there are some problems:
1) The data auto-populates into a row. It would read better if each step was in the same column, meaning rows would need to be automatically added upon selecting something from the drop-down list. The number of rows that need to be added vary based on the number of steps in the source sheet, for the selection made from the drop-down list.
2) If you make a change to the source sheet, my goal is to have the other sheets referencing the source sheet's lists of steps update automatically, so you only need to update the steps in one spot and everything you've built from them gets updated instantly. Currently, you must select a different choice from the drop-down list, and then change it back, before it populates the "new" steps from the source sheet.
This is my first time using VBA.
What I have so far is attached: testAutoPopulate.xlsm
I need the tabs of a project action log to auto-populate and auto-delete in a master log. (So when something is added or deleted in a tab it is added or deleted on the master) I use excel a little bit for work and personal finance purposes but I have zero experience with macros or VBA.
