Hidden Info When Copy A Worksheet From One Workbook To Another?

Aug 8, 2014

I need to create a new excel template for work. I was planning to copy a few worksheets from an old workbook over into the new workbook, mostly just for formatting for some graphs/tables that I would then link to the new workbook. A coworker said I cannot do this as copying from an old workbook will bring in "hidden" data that could some way impact the integrity of the new workbook and that the copied/old worksheet would FOREVER be linked to the new workbook no matter what I do. Is this true? If so, are there things I can do to remove any reliance to the old workbook.

Copy Info From One Workbook To Another?

Jul 23, 2012

My friend has multiple workbooks, each containing data. Each worksheet with have the same number of columns but a variable number of rows

Thinking through, what I deduced the simplest thing to do would be this: Have a macro that would Highlight all the data except the title row in the active workbookSwitch to a different workbook called "Consolidation"On the next free row, paste the information

They can then just activate another workbook and run the macro again

Macro That Looks / Copy And Paste Info In New Workbook

Apr 24, 2013

What the Macro has to do is this.

It takes an specific word from a certain number of files that you can choose from an add file window.
Then when you choose those files the macro starts to run every file and look for an specific word, in this case is "ROFO March 2013".

When it finds it, The macro creates a new workbook( You create the name of that workbook y the first place of the macro, when you choose the files that you want to look for that word).

So, When the macro finds the word ROFO March 2013, it copys all the columns that has that name, and keeps looking until the file ends.

And paste all that info in the new file, A consolidate File.

I have change all the names of variables of the macro so you can understand it.

Sub copy_data(ByVal Origin_File_route As String, ByVal destiny file As String)
Dim Origin_File As String, RsBusq As Range, ROFO As String
Dim Rango As Range, Fila As Long, lastrow as Long
origin_file = Dir(origin_file_route)

Copy Hidden Sheets To New Workbook As Values

Aug 9, 2007

I have a macro that copies 2 worksheets of an open workbook "Combined Sales Tool" and saves those 2 sheets in the root of the C drive with a variable name.

I want to know how I can #1 close the newly created workbook, #2 focus back to the original workbook "Combined Sales Tool", hide the 2 sheets that were copied to the new file, then close the original workbook with (and for example without) saving

part of my code below:

Sub esummary()
Dim OutApp4 As Object
Dim OutMail4 As Object
Dim cell As Range
Dim filedoc As String
Dim intFreeRow
Dim emailatt4 As String

Sheets("Summary").Visible = True
Sheets("Email").Visible = True

Sheets( Array("Summary", "Email")).Select
Sheets(Array("Summary", "Email")).Copy
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _
False, Transpose:=False
Application.CutCopyMode = False

Copy Worksheet That Is Hidden And Rename It Using A Userfom

I received the xls file attached to this mail !
In this xls when I click "Click me to copy s0 sheet and rename it" from final sheet, a userform appear, I type a name there and when I press ok I will have a copy of worksheet "s0" with the name typed in the userform.

But if I hide worksheet "s0" (using Format /Sheet/Hide) the macro will not work.
I modified the code from module 1 adding the red

Date - Sheet To Copy The Info To Another Workbook, Save And Close

May 3, 2007

I have a sheet that users fill out and there is a macro on that sheet to copy the info to another workbook, save and close.

for some reason, the date, which originates from a cell with the value "=Today()", and when pasted in to the new book, it is pasted values.

the issue is, every so often, the date will say 09/26/10 and continue to do so for quite a few entries.

i have tried almost everything. I checked the dates on the computers, and all are fine. i even went through it step by step, and when the data pasted it, it was 09/26/10.

Macro - Copy Data Based On Info In Cell From Separate Workbook

Jun 4, 2014

I have an invoicing spreadsheet, what I want is to have a main working page and then tabs after separated by vendor, but save myself a bunch of manual work in the future.

I want to be able to work in the main tab and the other tabs automatically update with the new info.

So I want the macro to search the text in the first column and if it finds "AIM Land Services Ltd." then I want it to populate the appropriate tab, in this case "AIM", with all the respective information after it ie: A-O. But I dont want it to select any other vendors/ info.

This is what I have:

Sub MoveData()
For Each cell In Range("A1:A1") ' Where to look for the date
If cell.Value = "AIM Land Services Ltd." Then ' The date
Range("A5:O350").Select ' What is the range to copy
Selection.Copy ' Copy it
Sheets("Invoice_Log").Select ' Select the Sheet it applies to
Range("A5").Select ' Where to paste the data

Excel 2003 :: How To Eliminate Unneeded (hidden) Info

Jun 18, 2012

I have a 2003 Workbook that is around 7 mb. It used to be half of that but it jumped up in size which makes it harder to email, etc.

On the front page it would go out past the (known) data and I was able to reset it to the correct place but on the 2nd sheet it would go to IV 65536 without fail. I used VBA as well as physically deleting andor clearing rows and columns but to no avail.

I decided to start eliminating portions of the workbook to see if I could find where the size was coming from.

1. I deleted Regular formatting
2. I deleted Conditional formatting
3. Made everything the same font name and size, etc
4. I deleted all VBA Code.
5. Last but not least I deleted/cleared all data from all the sheets

Between each change I would save and close the workbook and check the size in Explorer.
Each deletion brought down the size, however after finishing step 5, I had a blank workbook with 3 sheets and it was still over 1.4 meg!

The next step was to remove the 2nd sheet. I did this and it went from 1.4 meg to 25 kb.

At this point I have been coping all the info into notepad and the from notepad into a new workbook.

Copy Data From Multiple Sheets In Workbook To Different Workbook But On One Worksheet

Feb 7, 2014

I am looking for a code that would copy the data from each worksheet in a given workbook and then paste to just one worksheet within a different workbook. The Sheet names are auto generated when I run this canned report but the naming structure is always the same...the first worksheet is named Repair Details and then the next sheet is named Repair Details_1, the next sheet is named Repair Details_2 and so on for every sheet in workbook. So I would like to copy all of the data(Headers to last cell) and then paste in a worksheet(ex: Master Repair Report.xlsx and the worksheet could be titled Master Repair Details) on a different workbook, then the next sheet would copy from the one under the header to the last record and paste to the same workbook. This process would repeat for every worksheet in the Repair Details Workbook and paste to Master Repair Details worksheet in the Master Repair Report workbook.

Copy Values From A Worksheet To Another Workbook. Source Workbook Name Unknown

Aug 12, 2009

I need to copy a range of values (actually two ranges). The ranges are of fixed size. Le't say A2:D20 and E2:H20.

Both workbooks have the exact same layout, and they both have the same named worksheet (in this case it's called Entry). However the actual filename of the source workbook is unknown. I know numerous users have changed the filename of the xls file.

I want to instruct them to open the old and new workbook, and open a third workbook containing the copy macro, they run the macro and it copies the data.

How can I reference a known worksheet name but of an unknown workbook name esp when the source and destination share the worksheet name?

Set Textbox Control Source To Hidden Worksheet NOT Active Worksheet?

May 6, 2014

I have created an excel worksheet that will provide budgeting and estimating tools for my project managers. All data used to be manual entry and took a good while to complete. I am trying to automate the process with VBA.

I created a UserForm called InfoVerify1. On that form I have TextBox 1 - 10. When the UF opens, the boxes display project information from my worksheet called "Basis of Estimate", also known as Sheet26.

The TextBox1 ControlSource is set to "E4". When I run the macro with Sheet26 active, the proper information fills in. However, when I am on the Start page or any other worksheet and I run the macro, it tries to fill in the text boxes with E4, etc, from the active sheet. I tried changing the ControlSource to "Sheet26,E4" or any combo thereof with only error messages.

how to get it to refer to a cell on a particular worksheet and hold to that worksheet no matter which sheet I am on at the time I run the Userform?

Copy One Worksheet Into New Workbook

Jan 25, 2012

Though VBA I am trying to copy one worksheet into a new workbook. This worksheet contains Graphs which point to other datasheets in the same workbook.

I first copy the data worksheets, then I copy over the worksheet with graphs. However the graphs link to the original worksheet name- not to the datasheets in the same workbook as the newly created workbook. This is a problem since I am going to send this other workbook to users and they won't have access to the orginal datasheet.

I copy the sheets using the code:

Set wsheet = inbook.Sheets("Division")
wsheet.Copy after:=gobjOutBook.Sheets("Executive Summary")

Where the worksheet DIVISION is the worksheet containing the graphs and the data sheets are already copied there.
