How can I allow users to either select the SKU from the dropdown menu, or to type in the SKU # in the dropdown menu (C5 through F5) and have it populate the data fields for that SKU when they press the 'Enter' key?
Currently using Data Validation ='KVM Comparison Data'!$B$4:$OP$4 and cell logic to allow the information to be pulled from a hidden tab =INDEX('KVM Comparison Data'!$D$2:$OP$65,MATCH('KVM Product Comparison'!$B6,'KVM Comparison Data'!$A$2:$A$65,0),MATCH('KVM Product Comparison'!C$5,'KVM Comparison Data'!$D$4:$OP$4,0))
In short, I want to keep it the way I have it, but allow users to also have the option of typing in a SKU and pull the data up that way. I know this is possible, I just can't figure out how to do it, while keeping my current solution in place as well.
I have a button on say, sheet1 with text that I want to change after a certain action takes place; however, I was trying to change this text without switching sheets. (switching sheets isn't a big deal, I'm mainly trying to do it my way for the practice). I'm able to select the button on the other sheet without actually switching sheets, but when it comes to changing it's text I get an error. Here is the code I tried:
Sub macro1 () Worksheets("sheet2").Select Worksheets("sheet1").Shapes("Button 2").Select Selection.Characters.Text = "Done" End Sub
Problem with this is it gives cell A1 on sheet2 the "done" text. I also tried this...but it gives the error.
Sub macro1 () Worksheets("sheet2").Select Worksheets("sheet1").Shapes("Button 1").Select With Worksheets("sheet1").Shapes("Button 1") .Characters.Text = "Done" End With End Sub
For my university coursework I've created a comprehensive building cost model but I'm struggling with one aspect, copying the plotted ground floor footprint to enable floor finishes to be selected. A user can plot shapes in a 50x50 grid (B2:AY51). The shapes are displayed using conditional formatting. All shapes are conditionally formatted red, i.e. colour index 3. I wish to place a border around the plotted shapes, so that I can then copy the outline to a new tab. e.g. Range B2:AY51, If cell conditonally formatted red then place borders to the sides of the that cell that share a boundary with a non-conditonally formatted red cell.
Im looking to use this code to move the selected rows of a workbook over to a new worksheet in the sameworkbook. It works fine however for some reason it pastes the row over the last row. how to modify it so it pastes the row on the first empty row?
Sub MoveSelectedRows() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Dim strSheetName, strCellAddress As String strSheetName = ActiveSheet.Name strCellAddress = ActiveCell.Address(False, False) Rows(ActiveCell.Row).Cut Sheets("Closed Projects").Select 'Change sheet name to whatever consolidated tab name is. Range("A" & Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row).Select ActiveSheet.Paste Application.CutCopyMode = False Range("A" & ActiveCell.Row).Select Sheets(strSheetName).Select Range(strCellAddress).Select Rows(ActiveCell.Row).Delete Application.ScreenUpdating = True End Sub
Also, as a side note, how do I put a prompt in so that once I press the button to move the row the user is prompted asking if they are sure they want to move the row? 'Are you sure you wish to move row X?' Yes/No.
I have a macro that is performing a lot of string comparisons and sorting out a lot of unformatted data using a loops and instr calls and passing results into arrays to store in a database. The macro works flawlessly, however as the macro runs, over time is gets slower and slower until its barely moving 10% as fast as it was to start.
I run the macro in a separate windows session so I can continue working w/o the macro affecting other excel related tasks I work on. I can tell the computer begins to slow down as the macro runs. Is their any way to clear the system memory while the macro is running, maybe every 5 minutes or something?
On the attached spreadsheet there is two irregular shapes. "Area1" & "Area2". I need to be able to determine which area the "ball" shape is located in. If the ball is in Area1 then "Multiply 8" gets the ball and "Multiply 9" moves to the blue cell "AH39". If the ball is in "AreaB" Multiply 9 gets the ball and "Multiply 8" runs to cell "S37"
I should be able to do the moving of the shapes using all the samples, its determining which area the ball is in is the problem.
In the real spreadsheet i will probably have around 10 different Areas.
I need to know how to format columns in a spreadsheet. What I want to do is autofit the columns, all except for Column A; I want that want at a fixed width of 9. The code below is my attempt to do this, and it's not resulting as I wish. Stepping through the code, it performs the first part beautifully and autofits all of the columns. Where I have the line
Any excel formulae to build in into my financial model for tax free period/tax holiday, eg for first 6 years, the project company no ned pay tax? it is best if the formulae can bring flexibility for user to change the no. of years (tax holiday).
Im looking to count fields in column G, where the first 4 letters of column G do not begin with the letters "free", I came up with the following formula which doesn't work at all!!
Im also looking to do the same but with a sumif to perform the sum on a different column of data, but with the criteria LEFT(G15:G164, 4) & "" & "free") - (not sure if this bit is right either) staying the same.
I've found this calc but it doesn't compare to my particular scenario/goals: http://dinkytown.net/java/InvestmentDebt.html. The major difference is that this dinkytown calc requires a new loan to be put in place and I am not in a position to refinance my current mortgage. My plan is to pay an extra $267 (b3) to the mtg (b4). It will take 128 months (b6) to pay off the mortgage. After that point, I need to calculate what the newly freed capital (b5) would do if I put in an account (i.e. a CD or a simple US savings account) that had an Annual Percentage Yield (APY) of 1, 2, and 3% for 20, 15, 10 and 5 years. I thought that I had the right formula in place for cells b7:b8 should the account earn a 0% rate of return, but I think it's faulty since it gives me a negative number for 10 and 5 year accumulation periods.
I have created a sheet that shows distance between coordinates. Also working on something to put them in order of the closest point. I used a fixed point to find the nearest coordinate, but since i'm using a fixed point it doesnt go the order I want it to. I have attached the excel file I am working on.
how to get a single cell (C2) and (D2) to make the numbering format go from (## ## ##) to (######).
The Excel spread sheet is a coordinate converter, designed to take Degree's minuets seconds and convert it to Decimal Degrees, the formula is set up and work Great, but every time I copy and paste the coordinate to the excel spread sheet, i have to manuelly erase the spaces between the numbers so the formula can work properly. How can i get the cell to automatically delete the space between the numbers to save me time.(I.e 29 35 42.34325 -to-> 293542.34325)
I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that will convert coordinates from DDMMSS.00 to DDMM.000. I found another thread that discusses this same issue, but I was unable to make it work for me. I'm attaching a sample spreadsheet that basically shows what I'm trying to do.
I have an image which i have reduced to a mathematical representation of light intensities. We can consider each cell in my spreadsheet as a pixel, the value within the cell corresponding to how much light that pixel it took in during an exposure. There is a trend along the pixels that i would like to isolate as exactly as possible: a diagonal line, not quite straight from the bottom left corner to the top right.
What I would like to do, if possible, is to treat each cell in my spreadsheet as a point on a coordinate plane, and to use some type of formula or macro to give me a line of best fit using the positions of the highest valued cells as the data points in my extrapolation.
The tool I'm looking for would take data organized like this:
And give me an equation of the form y=1x + b (describing where to find the maximum values among the cells), although my actually data will need to be fit to a higher order polynomial.
Once I can do this, I will also need a way to take perpendicular sums automatically along the line of best fit at distance of two pixels in both directions and a width of one pixel. You can imagine drawing a rectangular box perpendicular to the line of maximum values and adding the proportions of each cell enclosed by that box. This means that for the example above, i would get 209 for all five points of interest: the maximum value plus the two values of one in the upper left perpendicular direction, the two values of one in the lower right perpendicular direction, half the values of the two cells neighboring the exactly perpendicular cells and a quarter of the outermost cells touched by our imaginary pixel box.
The following image may be useful in clarifying what I'm looking for. The red bar represents the imaginary box containing perpendicular pixel sums, where the green beam is the line of best fit derived from my maximum values.
Also, here is a snippet of my actual data to experiment with in solving these strange and exotic problems
I am trying to extract (and separate into 3 columns) the numbers only, positive or negative portion of (XYZ) Coordinates copied from AutoCAD and pasted into column A X = 96179.9699 Y = 61973.9793 Z = 1368.0025 In column B,C and D, I have tried to use Find Mid and other means
i use a Trimble Total Station Survey equipment, This is used for suveying and measuring distances between points on jobs. These points can be exported onto the pc as a text file and imported onto excel, the file has a northing and easting to locate the point these are comma separated.
I would like to know if excell is capable of working out a distance betwen two of these such points by using the two pairs of northing and easting coordinates. The maximum distance between two points is no more than 50 meters. If for example when imported onto excel point 1's coordinates are locted in cells A1 and B1 and points 2's coordinates are locted in cells A2 and B2.
I have a userform, on it is a very large command button with a picture of a map loaded on the button. The button is 500 width(X) by 500 height (Y), so the center of the button would be at the location 250 (X) by 250 (Y). The button is coded for mousemove to get the X,Y cooridates and when you _Click the button a textbox gives the distance to the point(mousemove) from the center of the button. All that is good, but now I'd like to find the degree of the point referenced to a compass, ie, if the point is at 250 (X) and (Y) is less than 250 then the point would be due north at 0/360 degrees and if the point (Y) is greater than 250, it would be south of the center of the button. I hope this make sense. It's been a long time since trig. I've been searching but can't seem to find the correct formula to figure this out.
Here's the other problem, I'm doing this in powerpoint so I'm not sure if cos or tan functions are loaded in this program. I am posting this in the xl forum because I figure that's where most of the people who could figure this out are. If this is in the incorrect forum I can try to move it,
VBA code which can distinguish whether a cell has been edited by:
selecting an option from a data validation list (DVL) or manually editing the text in a cell?
The ""Show error alert after invalid data is entered"" option is unticked to allow both selection from the DVL as well as free format text entries.
The problem arises when using the code below which makes an edited cell within a range display the new value as well as the prior value(s). This works well when using the DVL but not when editing the cell.
Is there any code which can distinguish between the 2?
Is it possible to create a chart using spherical coordinates (radius, theta, phi) in Excel? I want to create something similar to this. I would even be willing to write add-in code to create the graph from scratch, but I don't know if that's possible. Is it possible to create a new chart type without using the other chart types as a base?
