VBA Code To Automatically Fill Down And Apply Formula Till Last Cell
Aug 22, 2012
I am using this code and it works fine:
Dim MyData As Range
Dim MyResult As Range
Set MyData = Range("E1:E1000000")
Set MyData2 = Range("F1:F1000000")
Set MyResult = Range("J4")
Selection.Formula = "=COUNTIFS(" & MyData.Address & ",""=Kim""," & MyData2.Address & ",""=done"" )"
Is there any way I can change the code so that it automatically finds the last cell as Im using Range("E1:E1000000") and Range("F1:F1000000") because there will not be more than 1000000 entries.
I have a control chart macro which is being used for patient doses of a medication. Right now my macro automatically fills columns D-N down to row 100. However, I would like it to stop at the last row of data entered in column A. I have attached the code related to the formulae a
Cell b2 contains the formula =IF( COUNTIF(B$1:B2,B2)=1,MAX(A$1:A1)+1,"") I want cell b3 to contain the formula =IF(COUNTIF(B$1:B3,B3)=1,MAX(A$1:A2)+1,"") I can do this within the spreadsheet by simply highlight and drag down to autofill and excel updates the formula references as I need
However - because the sheet gets very large (its a sort of rough database) I dont fill in all the formulae on a blank sheet, but each time a record is entered using a VBA form I have the following working code copy the formula
However I dont want to use 'Active' - because I have to work out what cell is selected before this is executed and then reselect it after, which also causes the screen to flash when the active sheet changes so I tried the following which does not work
I am creating a register of first aid kits on my site. What I want to do is have a summary as the first worksheet, and then have contents, and individual expiry dates for each kit on seperate kits. Is there a way to autofill, or auto complete, a different sheet name in formulas?
As I am a fresh user of excel 2007 I do not know how hard it is to solve the problem I am facing but hopefully there is a solution that the readers here are willing to share with me.
I have a list of **-s that I have recorded as a hobby with my friends (karaoke, free concerts...) and I have them coded in a specific way, so that I can find them on a shelve easily. The list is built up in a form that is seen on the example file that I added. So far I have used my own handwriting and a sticker to label my ** boxes. Itīs not a very good looking combo to be honest. Since I already have all the data in my excel tabel it would be good to use excel to take all the things from there and just print it out. How to do that? The front cover is easy, I used VLOOKUP function. All I have to do is enter a number into the column C1 and the front label gets filled.
The problem for me is the back cover that should take the right track nr, title and length from several rows (VLOOKUP uses only one row at a time)? How to make it work, that excel would know that on the first album there are 3 tracks and when chaging a number in C1 there would be 2 tracks on a second one.
I am trying to find a formula that will automatically fill in text that is entered in Sheet1 if it matches with a name in Sheet 2. I have found a formula that will enter a number but it will not work for text.
I am trying to get the Price to automatically fill cell C11 of the attached spreadsheet when a user enters Grade and Thickness information. I have tried index function, match function, vlookup function, and combinations of all with no luck.
I am writing a program in excel spreadsheet and I was wondering how to fill an input cell with color automatically in excel 2007.
I mean that, say I am writing an addition program, I am giving an input numbers in B1 and B2 and i am writing formula in B3 (=B1+B2). I want excel to fill B1 and B2 with yellow/any color automatlically. Only the cells with number input should be highlighted.
How do you make the auto-fill to not automatically use the next numbered cell:
I want it to fill with every other cell from a different sheet (same column "D") so i would have a cell ='sheet1'$D10 or whatever then how would i do it so it will auto fill every other cell from then on so the first cell below the initial one would copy from the other sheet as D12 instead of D11?
I downloaded the checkbook register from Microsoft.com and am trying to add a few cells at the end to quickly calculate my outstanding debits and credits so that I can balance my statements automatically. I figured out how to write the formula properly (eventually), but the cells will not take on the currency format no matter what I do. I have tried pasting the format from the other cells within the register, tried clearing the format and reapplying the currency format, tried accounting, etc.
I want a Macro to be able to copy a formula down from cell A2 down the entire column within the data range. But, the problem I've got is that the spreadsheets I'll be using the Macro on will be different sizes. Currently, the VBA looks like this:
So the "Destination:=Range("A2:A17340")" part copies the formula into all cells from A2 to A17340. Other spreadsheets might only have data up to cell A200, or Awhatever - is there a way of getting the macro to populate just the cells in column A but only where there is data adjacent in other columns?
Also, I want the Macro to be able to delete all rows wherever "DELETE" appears in a certain column - I had a look at the "Delete Entire Row Based on Criteria" Macro but I'm looking for a fully automated solution, rather than the question boxes coming up and asking which cell/criteria, I need to run this macro on multiple sheets and the criteria/column position will always be the same -
I am using column K and it looks up the length of this cell. When I created the formula I was using info that only went to line 234 which was fine. Once I clear the info in column K and input new info it can go further than line 234. How do I get the macro to look up the whole of column k without having to create a new macro each time?
Cell A1 is going to be used as my true/false value to trigger the formula. Cell A2 must allow user input to calculate "what if" scenarios however, if cell A1 value = true then cell A2 = 0.
I think I need to place my formula into A3 to allow the user their input to A2 without overwriting my formula. Problem is if I place the = sign in front of IF, the formula does not work the way I need it to. If I don't place the = sign in front of IF excel just treats it as a text entry.
I have inherited this workbook and am just trying to automate the functionality to streamline.
Why this error is coming up on a macro. Now to what I'm trying to accomplish is I have 1 sheet called GDL and I want to pull certain data from that sheet into another sheet called data sheet. I have formulas set in the data sheet to pull the information I want. However, I want to create a macro to pull the data for those formula or I guess another way of looking at it would be a auto fill function, except with a macro button. Please see the following error I receive when trying to run the macro.
Run-time error '1004': Autofill method of range class failed. The following is the macro.
VB: Sub ResetDataSheet() ' ' ResetDataSheet Macro ' Macro recorded 11/13/2012 by asdf ' [Code] ....
I am trying to apply named cell from another worksheet to existing formula.
For example I have a formula in sheet2 which looks like =sheet1!A1+sheet1!B1. I then subsequently name sheet1!A1 = Jan and sheet1!B1 = Feb. Thinking that if I apply these names the formula in sheet2 would look like =Jan+Feb. However I get the message "Microsoft Office Excel cannot find any references to replace" when I try to apply the names using Excel menu "Insert - Name - Apply".
I've normally just dynamically selected a range using the xldown feature but because this row contains formula it goes always down to the bottom of the formula instead of the last cell which isn't blank.
How would i go about generating this dynamic range that stops at the first cell that contains no value (but has a formula)? Perhaps a do while loop which looped down until it hit the first blank and then assigned the cells it had looped through as the range?
I have certain values in cell B4 to B2000. There are 25 unique values in those cells. In cells A4 to A2000 I would like to put a identifier (lets say a letter from A to Y) based on the adjacent B4 to B2000 cell values. I can't use a IF function because I am way over 7 allowed in excel. I could use a vlookup but that seems to slow down the file quite a bit. Is there something else better/faster out there?
I'm working on an excel sheet to display technical problems in an office. I want to use a filter in order to not display problems that were resolved (by applying a filter to show only "0" on the "problem duration" column that displays "hours problem was up after solved" and "0" if not solved) as the point is to display only non-resolved issues. I wanted this filter to be re-applied constantly, meaning once I fill the time and date it's solved and the formula calculates the time it was up, this row will automatically vanish due to the filter applied.
I found this thread on your site Refresh Autofilter Automatically from the resolved problems so we need to remove the filters once in awhile. With this after the filter is removed, you cannot setup a new filter at all (it just doesn't seem to allow you, erasing it after it is being applied). I need to not only be able to setup a new filter, but also that this new filter will be reapplied automatically all the time (temporary disable of a filter is also an option, but I do not know whether it's possible).
I do have Excel 2007 on Vista, but I also need this to work on Excel 2003 with XP.
I would like to add something (formula) to the following code to automatically add a new ID number with each new entry. Some of the entries will have the same name but each time a new entry is added I want the ID number to increase by 1. Assume that the first entry is 0001.
Setting up all 50 states was not so bad, and I tried a Pivot Table but I have very little experience with them and could not figure out how to show only the nonzero states. So, I looked up how to filter the pivot table and discovered I could just filter the state data without the pivot table.
So, I put all 50 state abbreviations in one column. In the next column I put countif formulas to count how many customers came from each state. (In the meantime, I learned how to use an indirect formula to pull the state ID from the first column and copy it down and have the formula advance for each row... cool!) Then, I filtered the columns on the count twice. First, in descending order; then, without the zeros.
However, the weak side of the filter is that it does not automatically update when a new state is entered. I have to go and manually filter again. So, is there a way to get the filter to update dynamically? I know that a pivot table is dynamic but I have a lot to learn and I can probably browse around and figure out how to show only the nonzero states. Once I learned that, would it dynamically update when a new state is added?
How to "hard code" a cell's fill color? I want to assign a cell's fill color to yellow. While setting the fill color is easily done, my problem is that as soon as I paste data into that cell, it looses its fill color. Is there a way to tell the cell to never change the fill color?
