Any method to determine the number of instances a value ("4" for example) appears next to a specific value ("x" for example). I don't have a workbook; I'm just looking for any formula that can search for specific values and find the total number of instances that an adjoining cell contains data.
I have a column with Cells that will sat True or False, the amount of rows will be different every time, I need to work out what the total percentage of True cells compared to the total number of cells. How would this be achieved.
(1) I want to find the maximun number for the past n periods in a range of cells, but I want to be able to vary n by changing the number of periods in one cell at the top of the sheet, i.e. if i enter 10 in cell A1 the function will return the max number for 10 periods over a certein range, if I change the figure to 20, then the max number for 20 periods will be returned!
(2) I have a column (lets say column c) which will return a number of values if my criteria are met and 0 if not, I want a function in another column which will replace the 0 with the next non 0 figure in column c, the gaps between the non 0 figures can vary. I feel it involves looping in some form, and writing a new function, but I am not sure.
I have a large spreadsheet with various data. On the first column I have a list of user ids, this is a unique id to each user. In each row there are data there are varies other data. I want to find a unique id and then add up the figures from week1, week2, week3 and week4.
So lets say I want to find user number 1 and the total for weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4, how would I do that using an excel formula? I have given an example below but I have simplified to spreadsheet.
I have two workbooks, (Invoice.xls) and (Inventory.xls) both using sheet1. When I fill out an invoice, with lets say 10 items on sheet1 column B, I need a macro to find those items in workbook "Inventory" sheet1 column A. When the item is found, I need the qty I entered on the invoice workbook "Invoice" sheet1 column C (same row as the item number) to be subtracted from the current total for that item in workbook "Inventory" sheet1 column C. I would like to run the code from the workbook "Invoice" before I do a "Save As". I have found other Vb code on this site that seems very close to what I need, but I just don't know enough to make the changes necessary.
Row 2 to 5 are of same item no. The result that is required is in Column C. The formula to check same item numbers in column A and give the result as "FRA" in column C3 with C2, C4, C5 showing as not applicable. Similarly for the next item no
I need to find the total number of rows down to the next blank cell (and then perform a function based on that number).
I'm using:
CountA(A1,xlDown) Situation: I have a raw data import - each record is anywhere from 2 to 9 rows, and I need to move each row in that group into a column.
I would like to use something like:
totalRows = Application.WorksheetFunctions.CountA(Range("A1, xlDown")) If totalRows = 4 Then ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Range("A1").Select Selection.Cut ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 1).Range("A1").Select ActiveSheet.Paste etc.
I'm looking for a VBA Macro that will do the following:
1. Count number of cells in a given row that contain special character "*" 2. If there is an asterisk in a given row, return the column header(s) contained in row 1 of the spreadsheet that correspond to each instance of cell(s) that contains the "*".
Is there a way to do this? I've attached an example of what I'm talking about, (Column A shows the desired result.)
I have a number I would like to find that is made up of a number of these cells. Lets say that number is 205, and as such the only possible values that could make that total are 1,100, and 104.
Is there a formula I can run that will allow me to find this number without manually figuring it out.
Have column A with date, column B with subtotal, column C with Total. The Total (C) is made up of one to five subtotals (B). Subtotals to be included in the Total are those that come after the previous Total up to the row with a date. Only a row with a date has a Total. Is there a formula that can do this?
I have a Workbook with multiple sheets with Data in them. I would like to Count the number of duplicate values between the sheets.
For example.
Sheet one has a list of case references Person A is dealing with.
Sheet two has a another list of case references Person B is dealing with however the also have a list of case reference's they are monitoring as part of a project.
Sheet 3 has got the total number of case references each Person is dealing with, it also contain the total number of cases Person A&B together are dealing with. however i need to find the total number of cases Person B is monitoring that Person A also has so that the total number of cases is the true number of total cases with no duplicates involved.
(References begin with VB then have a string of numbers afterwards and I would like to know the total number of cases the Person B is monitoring as well so these need ot be calculated).
I HAVE AN IF FORMULA IN 7 CELLS BUT I CANT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO GET THE RESAULTS IN THESE CELLS TO SUM IN TO A DIFERENT CELL ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I USED FORMULAS AND HAVE FORGOTEN THEM
I have what I thought was going to be a simple function to create and, after a week of getting more error messages than I've had in a year, I'm ready to throw in the towel. Situation: There are two worksheets in the same workbook [Excel 2003]. One is for "Posting" details about technicians and their work orders. The other is a "Report" that summarizes the number of workorders open, closed, etc.
In the "Posting" sheet, I have created dynamic name ranges for two columns: Technician (4-digit text field) and InDate (date field that, if blank, means that the technician has not closed this work order. My ranges are set up like this:
So all I need to do is to total all the blank InDates for each Technician by employee number. I've tried COUNT to SUMPRODUCT. A co-worker got it to work with using...=SUMPRODUCT((ISBLANK(Posting!$D$2:$D$65307))*(Posting!$B$2:$B$65307=4288)) His solution was to list almost every available cell in each column. I just can't help but think that the dynamic name range should be able to work but I can't get it right. I think I'll choke if I get one more "N/A" or "VALUE! error.
Column AH2:AH367 represents the current year and contains values from Jan 1 to Dec 31 inclusive, some of which are zero and future values are blank. Column AG2:AG367 represents last year and contains the same and all cells have a value (some are zero).
The date column is A2:A367 (the columns in between are all the years prior to 2013).
I need a formula that counts the total number of cells with a value greater than zero for the range AG2:AG367 up to and including today's date to be returned in cell A1 of Sheet 1.
This may not be the best way to do this, but I don't know Macros or Pivot Tables.
I am looking for a way with formulas to do the following: Within a workbook the 1st sheet is the data entry. In another sheet that will total data from the data sheet is where I want to be able to total columns of data, depending on what is entered in one specific column:
Example: Data Sheet, E2:E2999 is a unit number selcted by pull down tab entry. G2:G2999 in the same sheet is where the data is.
Q: What formula would allow to total the data on the Total Sheet depending on what unit number is selected in column E on the Data Sheet and the data amount in column D from Data Sheet?
On worksheet 1 I have Column A with a list of names, which we shall call John, Paul, George and Ringo, listed randomly within 100 cells (A1 - A100). I have Cells B1 - J100 with 3 options in each cell; Blank, C and NYC.
I need a list on worksheet 2 for each individual person showing;
(1) total number of cells marked C (2) total number of cells marked C & NYC combined.
I'm using the following code to delete select rows one at a time. I need the last row in the range to remain therefore I prevented the user from deleting the row one up from the row that contains "Total Hours" (which is always in Column B). The code works great as long at the user clicks into a cell in column B. If the user clicks into a cell in column A, C, D, E, F, G, H, or I then the code allows the user to delete the last row.
I believe I need to search entire rows to determine if the row contains "Total Hours" .
I'm sure this can be done but I don't think I have the formula correct. What I am trying to do is add each day's total while displaying a positive number if the total exceeds 6000.
I have a blank sheet and need to total values in cells to the right of certain information from a range in 90 sheets in other workbooks contained within the same folder.
for example the range is O13:AX500
the first text to search would be "P1", that could be found several times within the range in each workbook with the sheet named "plant"
The value to total would be found in the 2nd cell to its right, ie "P1" in cell O13 then value "£290" in Q13 ::: "P1" in cell X365 then value "£100" in Z365 and so on throughout all 90 workbooks.
The total of the referenced values would then be placed in say B1....
I have around 500 reference codes to total throughout the 90 workbooks so maybe having a list of the text reference down column A may help the process.
Is it possible and can anyone please help with the code to look at a piece of text in new sheet with cell A1 to A500 containing "P1 to P500" and then total all values in the cell 2 to the right in every workbook and place the total in new sheet cell B1 to B500
number for item detail level from category standpoint. For example, in the category sheet has total number per category and per month and in the item detail sheet has a list of item number with category. I want a formula to recognize which item belongs to which category then use the total number of category by month to multiply with % of total in column D from Item Detail Spreadsheet.
I am trying to create a formula that shows a percentage of cells within a range that contain a particular number. This percentage is based on another cell, which is the total number of all audits. Each audit has rating columns, with a numeric value indicating it's rating. I need to count those cells within the range that equal the numeric value assigned to the rating, and then divide that total by the total number of audits to obtain a percentage of calls with each particular rating in each category.
Here is an example of what I'm trying to accomplish:
A1 = 2 (Total audits) B1 = 07/31/2009 (Date of first audit) C1 = 3 (Rating of first category) D1 = 1 (Rating of second category) E1 = 2 (Rating of third category) F1 = 08/03/2009 (Date of second audit) G1 = 0 (Rating of first category) H1 = 2 (Rating of second category) I1 = 2 (Rating of third category)
The percentage of audits within the first category that have a rating of 3 would be 50%. The percentage of audits within the second category that have a rating of 3 would be 0%. The percentage of audits within the third category that have a rating of 2 would be 100%.
Please see the attached sheet. I have columns B through a lot (B through O in my oversimplified example). In every 7th row in each of these columns there is either a 1 or a blank/zero. I need to multiply that 7th number by the Quantity in column A, to achieve a total (ie the sum of each result of 7th cell*quantity) for each column in the bottom row, labeled "Totals".
In the actual version of my sheet, there are far too many rows to select everything manually. I've been fiddling with combinations of COUNTIF/COUNTA and OFFSET, but I haven't come up with a way to check for the 1 in every 7th row, THEN multiply that 1 by the quantity in column A, THEN add up the results for each column. As you can see, there are 1's elsewhere in the columns that are irrelevant to this particular calculation, so something like LOOKUP would also have to look in every 7th cell and couldn't just look at the column as a whole.
If you can't provide an immediate solution, but can at least point me to a resource that would allow me to devise a way to isolate every 7th row (THAT part is the sticking point), I'll surely post the solution to my own thread with updated keywords if I need it.
