Automatically Run Macro Every X Minutes

Oct 3, 2007

I am trying to run a macro every 15 minutes after opening it. I did read something on here that helped me "http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/run-macro-on-time.htm", but it only seemed to refresh at 15 minutes past the hour. Not at 00:30, 00:45, or 00:00.

Automatically Save Workbook Every X Minutes

Oct 27, 2008

I've created a MsgBox that if you do not respond or Click on it within a set time it will either disappear or perform an action upon no selection. It works great....IF it’s the only excel workbook open. If there is a second workbook open (Even if the second WB is minimized) then the MsgBox just stays up and the "Timer" no longer works. My Code is as Follows:

Sub TimedMsgBox()
Dim Box As Object
Dim varResponse As Variant
Dim Res As Long
Set Box = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

varResponse = Box.Popup(Text:="Which button will you click?", secondstowait:=5, Title:="Click Me!", Type:=vbYesNoCancel)
If varResponse = vbYes Then
MsgBox "You clicked Yes"
ElseIf varResponse = vbNo Then
MsgBox "You clicked No"
ElseIf varResponse = vbCancel Then
MsgBox "You clicked Cancel"
ElseIf varResponse = -1 Then
Res = Box.Popup(Text:="What? Do you not like me?", secondstowait:=5, Title:="You Didn't click Me!", Type:=vbOK)
End If
End Sub

Update Pivot Tables Automatically After X Minutes

Feb 17, 2014

trying to get pivot tables to automatically update every 4 minutes.

I have 3 worksheets:

worksheet 1: SCANNER, this sheet pulls in data externally using an =RTD links

worksheet 2: RAW, this manipulates the data above, and this is the data used to create the pivot tables

worksheet 3: SUMMARY, the pivot tables are here, there are 9 of them.

Worksheet RAW, changes every so often, and every 4 minutes I would like to have the pivot tables AUTO REFRESHto make sure its using the latest data from RAW.

I see options to autorefresh on the opening of the workbook, but cant see anything to REFRESH EVERY X MINUTES.

Is there any way to do this with VBA ?

Automatically Save/List Cell Value Every X Minutes

May 28, 2008

I have a range that refer to an external data. This external data is refreshed every one minute. So the data is changing every one minute. I need to copy the content of one fix cell in that range into another cell every one minute, each time copy to a different cell. Example: cell A1 has the content that refer to an external data. Cell A1 is updated every one minute. At first A1= 100, I need it to be copied to cell B1 (so B1=100); one minute later, A1=101, I need it to be copied to B2 (so B2=101) and so on.

I was trying a custom format like dd:hh:mm or [d]:hh:mm and I was also trying a convert function and =day/1440+hour +minute

Auto Save As VBA Macro Every X Minutes?

Dec 20, 2008

I have found some posts about "Auto Saving" and Dave pretty much frowns upon that. But the program I use (via ODBC), for some reason doesn't see the changes I make unless the file is saved. I have it auto-saving right now, but was thinking, maybe it is better to export a copy.

What I would need, is the ability to take my current workbook and export it to a new file (overwriting that same file each time), and do this based on time or (even better) on a change in the data. My current workbook is set to pull from other CSV files, scraping our website, etc., and then I use Excel to format the data the way I want.

It would be cool, if I could export two versions each time too... one that would be like a archive of what the file was like when it changed, the other would be the one that just gets overwritten each time.

Love this site...tons of info...but dang am I not smart at this stuff. Half the time, I don't even get where to put the code...worksheet, module, workbook?

Auto Run Macro Every X Minutes Or Time Specified In Cell

Sep 23, 2008

The below seems to work but I'm wondering if there might be a better way. I'm trying to keep an ongoing up-to- date and accurate time. my code is as follows:

Private Sub Workbook_Open() ' placed inside thisworkbook
Call TimeUp
End Sub

Sub UpdateTime() ' placed in module
If Range("A4") = TimeValue("00:00:00") Then
Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("00:01:00"), "TimeUp"
Else
UpdateTime2
End If
End Sub

Sub TimeUp()
[a1] = Time
UpdateTime
End Sub

Sub UpdateTime2()
[a1] = Time
Application.OnTime Now + Range("A4").Value, "TimeUp"
End Sub

Does anyone know if there is any way to improve the Code or formulas within the Cells?

Run Macro Based On Time In Cell Every X Minutes

Jan 26, 2008

1st post. Very basic understanding of Excel / Macros / VBA but I have searched and still not quite able to get what I'm looking for.

I would like to be able to manually put in a TIME in a cell, and have a macro run at set times before that TIME e.g. something like
If TIME in cell A1 =(hh:mm minus 30mins) run macro 1,
If TIME in cell A1 =(hh:mm minus 5mins) run macro 2

It was suggested to me to use vba code that would constantly check the time against the system time and as soon as it is 30 mins before the time in cell A1 and the 30 mins flag in cell B1 was ‘N’ then it would run macro 1 code and set the 30 mins flag to ‘Y’ to show that macro 1 had been run.

and that this could also do the same for the 5 mins event

Macro Takes Seconds In XP And 2003, Minutes In Vista And 2007

Sep 10, 2008

I have a fairly simple macro that takes a few seconds on my XP-computer with Excel 2003 but takes several minutes on my Vista-computer with Excel 2007.

The XP-PC has 2GB memory, the Vista-PC only 1GB, but it's hard to believe it's only that.
Is Excel 2007 so much slower than 2003?

The macro makes quite extensive use of the .rows(Rownr).Delete method. Is the fact that 2007 has 1 million rows against the 65536 of 2003 the culprit? It has to shift much more data up when deleting a row, no?

Macro To Sort Automatically

Nov 8, 2008

I am now trying to write a macro which is a little over my head and was hoping some one may have some idea how to do it or have some code that is similiar and I can try to customise it myself. So here goes.

Basically all that happens is I paste data into a work book that always has two columns. The first column is a list of names and the second column is a list of numbers. I need to sort that information automaitcally every time it is pasted into the work sheet as follows.

1) Once any information is pasted to sheet 1 run macro automatically with no user interaction

2) All numbers must be rounded up or down first before sorting. If it is say 2.4 then it would become 2 and it it was 2.6 it would become 3.

3) Then move the numbers only from a specified column from sheet1 to sheet 2 and split them up into seperate columns based on the following results.

a) 0 - 3 gets moved to column B
b) 4 -7 get moved to column C
c) 8 - 10 gets moved to column d

4) Delete both columns from sheet1 after this is run so the user can re paste new information

5) If a user does this again then do the same but move into a new set of columns e f g and so on until the work book ends.

VBA Macro Printing Automatically

Aug 22, 2013

There's a spreadsheet containing 2 Sheets, lets'say Sheet1 and Sheet2.

The first one, Sheet1 contains raw data (imported from a database through SQL), hence there are no formulas in it.

This sheet contains among several columns, this one labeled "PC" (column G), non-sequenced numbers only (ex., 14014, 14015, 14019, 14113)

The second sheet is used for retrieving some other information from Sheet1, based on PC number, which is input on cell Sheet2!P15, for authorization purposes only.

The fact is that I have to input every PC number, one by one (14014, 14015, 14019...) then send it to printer one by one by every PC number entered.

In this example, type 14014 in P15, then print button; again, 14015, then print button, and so on.

I'm wondering if there's any way, by selecting some (not all) PC numbers from Sheet1 (even when filter is set on), to have these different pages (Sheet2) printed automatically after pressing this macro button.

An extra bonus would be the possibility (other macro, possibly) to generate one or several pdf files of this selection.
