Convert Worksheets To PDF Without PDF Printer Installed
Nov 3, 2006
I would like to save a Sheet as a PDF, however I do not have access to install a PDF-printer service (like PDF995 etc) on all the PCs at work. I've been Google-ing for the past week, and there are a lot of options out there, however all the options I have found fall into 3 categories;
- Prohibitively epensive
- Install a Printer
- Convert text only
I need something that mimics the output of Distiller (which I have at home) as either an excel addin or a stand-alone program which I can run via Shell. (I should be able to cope with the VBA for this : D) I don't need charts etc printed, however I do need a simple graphic (logo) to be included.

We have just refreshed our entire printer fleet to Xerox printers and as part of the project we have selected all defaults to B&W and duplex.
On a multi sheet excel file, If we click print then choose entire workbook and then change the print options to colour, it prints the only first worksheet in colour, and all the others in mono. i have read that excel treats each worksheet separately and does not cascade the changes made made in the first worksheet even if all sheets have been selected.
How can I get them all to print in colour?
We can set up another printer and change the defauts to colour but we dont want to go down that road and have 2 printers installed for each model.
Is there any code out there can will/ can change the properties of the first worksheet and cascade this throughout the workbook.
We use XP and W7 workstations and office 2003, 2007 and 2010. By the end of the year all workstations will be W7 and Office 2010.

I got a file from someone that uses a Calendar Control in a user form, but my machine does not seem to have it installed, and Excel removes the control. I have Excel 2003 with SP2. I use the same version on my home machine but it does have Calendar Control, and the file works fine there. I tried copying the MSCC.* files from the OFFICE11 directory from home to this machine. Is there some straightforward way to install that control?

Is it possible to force an addin to be installed in Excel 2003 using VBA? I have a spreadsheet that uses the solver.xla addin in a vba macro. It works fine on my machine, where I have manually ticked SOLVER in Tools>Addins and manually added a reference. However, it does not work when I send to someone else. It seems that the addin is not being installed. I have VBA code that opens it:
On Error Resume Next
s = Application.LibraryPath & "solversolver.XLA"
Workbooks.Open filename:=s
but even with this, i get a "Unexpected internal error occurred, or available memory as exhausted" when I try to run the following
On Error Resume Next
ActiveSheet. Unprotect
Application.Run "Solver.xla!SolverReset"
Application.Run "Solver.xla!SolverOk", "$D$46", 2, "0", "$L$13:$L$14"
Application.Run "Solver.xla!SolverOptions", 100, 100, 0.000001, False, False, 2, 1, 1, 0.05, True
Application.Run "Solver.xla!SolverOk", "$D$46", 2, "0", "$L$13:$L$14"
Application.Run "Solver.xla!SolverSolve"
ActiveSheet.Protect DrawingObjects:=False, Contents:=True, Scenarios _
:=True
The one way to make it work is manually going into Tools>Addins and ticking it. This is confusing me as the above, along with the code that opens it, should not even require a reference, but it doesn't work without it

I wish to add a add in in exel XP 2002 with Windows SP2. For that I have three file has to install:
1 fichier.lgc has to install in Windows applog
First problem I do not find this repertory hidden under same XP SP2 with the good options to select in Windows to explore. Thus I have to arrange this file in Windows appPatch and in Windows Prefetch in the place and the problem comes from I think.
1 fichier.xll has to install in office xlstart
1 fichier.ppp has instaler in office xlstart
And when the double click on the fichier.xll for the throw the error message is as follows “WinRT Driver not installed”. Thus my questions are is this normal that I do not find the file Windows applog under win XP SP2 and how to install WinRT driver. Or then where to arrange my fichier.xll which must normally be in the repertory Windows applog

Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
xlApp.Visible = False
xlApp.Application.DisplayAlerts = False
xlApp.Workbooks.Open ("somepathWebquery.xlsm")
xlApp.Application.Run "'some macro"
The only problem is, the web query will only work properly if it is in Excel 2007 (2003 will parse the table in a way that is not acceptable). However, when I tried to run the script, the stubborn Excel 2003 will show up. I even tried to uninstall the Office Compatibility Pack and the stubborn Windows will only run Excel 2003 and ask me to download the Office Compatibility Pack instead of giving me Excel 2007.
I tried to open it up using Open With...and it did not work, I even tried to regserver and unregserver and that did not work as well. Somehow Windows thought the only Excel I have is Excel 2003.
Is there anyway I could change the VB Script so that it would force Excel 2007 to open?

We are running Office 2010 part of Office Professional Plus 1010 (corporate install). We have added both the Analysis Toolpak and Analysis Toolpak - VBA to the add-Ins and have the button on the toolbar, however when we click on the button, we don't get the popup window allowing the user to pick the analysis tool they want to use. Have tried this on a number of PCs (we all run the same version) and it doesn't work on any of them.
What we have to do do make this toolpak work?

I have a workbook that consists of a number of worksheets, and a selection of these are updated regularly. Once updated the sheets are PDF'd using Acrobat 8 Standard to create a report, ready for mailing. To speed things I want to do this via a button click rather than going through the Acrobat interface and selecting the sheets to generate the document.
I have, as suggested here, recorded the action to create the report via Acrobat Distiller, including selecting the appropriate sheets. When I run the code, distiller treats the selected worksheets as separate files and subsequently tries to save them separately, ie 4 selected files - save prompt comes up 4 times.
a way to allow me to treat the selected sheets as one and therefore create one pdf consisting of all of the selected sheets.
my use of macros is usually limited to what I record.
Sub Print_PDF()
'
' Print_PDF Macro
' Macro recorded 06/06/2009 by MJ Cosker
''
Sheets( Array("Sheet1", "Sheet2")).Select
Sheets("Sheet1").Activate
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, ActivePrinter:= _
"Adobe PDF on Ne05:", Collate:=True
Sheets("Sheet1").Select
End Sub

1. I need your help in converting all the worksheets in a workbook to CSV format. Is it possible to do that with a macro?
2. I have 20 workbooks, each with 12 worksheets. I need to combine the data in all the workbooks to create a database. As I will not be
able to do that in Excel (due to the row limit), I am thinking of using MS Access.
Therefore I am planning to convert these excel files into CSV files and then use the CSV files to create an MS Access database.

I have a macro that changes user selection from formulas to values:
Dim vCol As Variant
vCol = Application.InputBox("Select Column", Type:=2)
If vCol = False Or vCol = "" Then Exit Sub
Set UserRange = Range(vCol & "9:" & vCol & "35")
UserRange.Value = UserRange.Value
End Sub
I have several workbooks that use this macro, and the workbooks can include several sheets.
Is there's an easy way to change the macro so the user selection is changed in all sheets in the workbook. E.g. if the user selection is column H, the formula is changed to values in all sheets in the workbook.

I want the user to be able to choose a printer but not print at that time.
1. Store the active printer as a variable using application.activeprinter
2. Have a dialog box (the printers available) popup and have them choose one, then store that
3. I know how to do the rest, but I will have the word document print out with the selected printer, then use the application.activeprinter reset to the original one

Is there a way to set the printer's properties using VBA?
Sometimes we set the printer for BEST quality to do photos or brochures. Well if we don't change it back, when we go to print a spreadsheet, it takes forever because it is set on best quality.
So......
I want to be able to set the print properties to normal using VBA.

how to automate the printing of Excel sheets each with a different name to a Cute pdf printer?
I have a VBA procedure which uses Windows API calls to write to a system ini file (which I understand is a necessary requirement of the Cute software), which loops through all the sheets I need to print, and sends them one by one to a Cute pdf printer. However each time the 'print' instruction is invoked - I say print but of course this is really a file save process, the Save As dialog box pops up asking the user to confirm the save.
What I want to achieve is the file gets saved automatically, with the relevant sheet name with no confimation dialog box.

I have a file for which I wish only selected pages to be printed, so I have disabled the print function in the ThisWorkbook module. Instead, the user chooses from a menu of available sheets to print, via a user form, and then requests the print.
I've got most of this sussed in my mind, but the users need the option of which printer to use (loads of networked printers available and the choice will depend upon monochrome for draft print or full colour for final print), so I want to be able to call up the printer dialog box using
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogPrint).Show
BUT!!!!
I want all the options on the dialog box disabled, except for the choice of printer as clicking OK after choosing the printer adds the active sheet to the list of items to print.

In my program I want some labels to be printed on printer P661 (black/white) and other labels on printer P656 (color).
Q: is it possible to do this in vba for my code?
The labels are made in Word and printed from within Excel.
Sub PrintNACL_LABEL()
Dim oWord As Object
Dim sPath As String
Dim iCnt As Integer
sPath = ThisWorkbook.Path & Application.PathSeparator & "NACL_LABEL.doc"
iCnt = Val(InputBox("Hoeveel exemplaren?", "NACL_LABEL", 1))
If iCnt >= 1 Then
Set oWord = CreateObject(Class:="Word.Application")
With oWord.Documents.Open(sPath)
.PrintOut Background:=False, Copies:=iCnt
.Close False
End With
oWord.Quit False
End If
Set oWord = Nothing
End Sub
The specific printers in the network are:
Color ---> "\PlantijnP656 op Ne00:"
Black/white ---> "\plantijn2000oldP661 op Ne02:"
