Data Dump Query When Workbook Opens

I am trying to find a way to automatically do a query and dump the data into a sheet when a previously created workbook is open. I know how to get the data (use the Tools, Import External Data option to retrieve data from Access) but what I don't know is how to make it do it automatically when the workbook is open.

Lookup Any Cells Within Data Dump?

Any way to look up any cells with in a data dump (example: PR1420829-V2) but not having to include the 'V2' but still picking up the cell.

Im currently using the fomula;

Macro Data Dump Of The Date When I Hit 'update'

I have a model which I have created a macro for that will do a data dump of the date when I hit 'update' (on BBG Raw Data Tab) to Column A in the 'Data for Pivot' Tab.

This works fine and all of the data comes over, except the last two data points in BBG Raw data (Cell A5055 and A5056) do not come across into the 'Data for Pivot' Tab (these should be going into Cell A5054 and A5055 of the 'Data for Pivot' tab).

Daily Data Dump - Using VBA To Define The Range?

I have a daily data dump that starts at the beginning of 2012 up to the current date. I have an executive view that allows the user to see metrics(in a data graph) from the current date back to a date selected from a drop down menu. I would like to have it so they can choose what the end date will be as well as the start date. I have tired using offset with very little luck. Is there a way I can accomplish this task with VBA? Everyday a new row of data (for the previous date) is added to the front sheet. So row 1 is a header row and then row 2 is 01/01/2012, row three 01/02/2013, etc.

Autofilter When Workbook Opens

My workbooks contains 2 worksheets with data and autofilters on for each column in use.

When my workbook opens I am trying to reset the autofilters of each worksheet in the workbook and to filter the data according to one criteria in one column.

This is what I have that works to reset each worksheet but I haven't been able to figure out how to subsequently filter each worksheet.

Add-in Opens Workbook It Was Created In

I've created an add-in that runs a simple macro. The problem I have is that when I run the add-in it opens the workbook I originally created it from - is this what I should expect it to do? How do I stop this from happening?

Also, do I need to have the workbook from which I created the add in located in the same place on every machine I want to use the add in on? At the moment if I move the original workbook the add-in won't work.

I'm trying to build a workbook (2007) with multiple worksheets where each worksheet corresponds to a different query/dataset pulling data from the one database.

I would have expected that you could define the one data connection object and then specify the SQL that each worksheet table will invoke. The apparent structure of having the query coupled to the connection object is confounding me. I'm therefore trying to set up a separate connection for each of the worksheets and Excel is getting tied up in knots.

I have a workbook on a share drive that is used by multiple people. In the event that someone leaves the workbook open after using it, I have a timer function that pops up a splash screen after 4 minutes of inactivity which states, "This workbook will close in 1 minute if there is no further activity". If there is no further activity in that minute, the workbook closes.

The code works fine...unless the workbook is manually closed in that minute between the splash screen and when the timer would have closed the workbook. If that happens, the workbook closes normally and then briefly reopens and closes a minute later when the timer would have closed the workbook. Is there any code to prevent this?

Convert Tree Structure SAP Data Dump Into Database Format

I have an organizational hierarchy dump in excel from an SAP ERP system. The format of that file is less than user friendly and I need to convert it to a flat file format so I can do pivots against it or possibly dump it into access database. The background is as follows (I am also attaching a file).

The organizational structure is multinoded/layered. Top most node is a company second from the top are divisions designated by 02DivName each 02DivName has multiple nodes assigned to it. The lowest level of the hierarchy is a department, always a numeric, always same length.

That's where it gets interesting. Each node/layer under 02DivName has a technical description and text description they get broken up into two different columns when SAP dumps them. Technical descriptions can be used to identify where in hierarchy the node falls(parent/child). For example 02A is a child of 02DivName 02B is a child of 02A 02C is a child of 02B and of course all of them roll up to 02DivName. There could be multiple 02A's under Div Name and their respective 02B's, C's D's would roll under them. So on export file it would be graphically represented 02A1 blank blank blank blank in that column and then change to 02A2 their respective 02B's would be in different columns works the same for C's and D's.

Here is another wrinkle the department is not always assigned to the lowest level grouping. I could have 02DivName dept, dept, dept, and then 02A group assigned to 02DivName. The department numbers end up on export file in the same column as fre form text descriptions for the nodes. It is staggered format.

The object of what I'm trying to do is basically convert the gibberish described above into flat file format via a vba script. I need to have node1 node1 desc node2, node2 desc, etc etc in columns the last column being a department number. So if for example I have a dept assigned directly to 02DivName directly all the other node descriptions will be blank if it's node 02A then the node1 and node2 will be populated. Date Formats Incorrect When VBA Opens Workbook

I'm new to VBA so my i'm having alot of problems figuring out simple stuff.

Below is my script and when i run it, the dates turns out incorrect.

I noticed this only happens to dates that are before 13th of each month.

Example,

1st May 2008 ( 01/05/2008)

will turn up as

5th Jan 2008 ( 05/01/2008)

However when i manually open the file Todays trades.csv
The date looks just fine.

Is there some problem with using VBA to call up the file?

Force Specified Sheet To Display When Workbook Opens

I need to set the "Sheet1" to be the sheet that always displays first, regardless of what sheet was active when last saved.

The reason is that I have a sheet with instructions on it as how to use the Workbook, including "You must Enable Macros" etc. When Macros are enabled, it's all good, as most people use a USERFORM which I have coded to set "Sheet1".Select and save their work upon closing using the USERFORM.

BUT when the advanced users modify other Sheets directly without using the USERFORM, and "SAVE" and then "Close" , the next time a user opens the Workbook (If they do not enable Macros) it opens to the sheet the advanced user Saved on. Thus killing my instructions page and putting the exact people I did not want messing around on certain sheets, on those sheets, fully bypassing the USERFORM created to avoid the problem.

I can force the workbook to switch to "Sheet1" and Save and Close, every time someone closes or EXITs, BUT I quickly realized when testing that any mistakes made are then permanent because you cant EXIT without Saving.

So. Is there a setting somewhere (Not Requiring Enabled Macros) to force a Workbook to ALWAYS open "Sheet1" first, regardless of what Sheet was last saved in the Workbook?

Worksheet Activate Not Happening When Workbook First Opens

I have a workbook where the sheets are all protected and I want to stop users scrolling up or across beyond the limits of the input areas.
I have used the following code (or variations of)...

This works fine except that when I first open the workbook, the first sheet displayed can still be scrolled. As soon as you move to another sheet and then back again, it is then OK.

It appears that the Worksheet_Activate code does not execute when the workbook is first opened.

How do I get round this?

Populate 12 Sheets With Data From Dynamic Dump Of Entire Year - Use A Macro?

I have a sheet with a data dump containing data on several railcars, taking up approximately 500 rows. Some railcars take up multiple rows, one row for each unique customer, and one railcar can have up to 5 customers' goods on it. What I need to do is get this information separated out onto monthly sheets, based on the departure date of the railcar. Every row of data in the dump has a column with the departure month I need in it, so that would make it seem easy. I have 12 sheets created one for each month, with the same headers as in the dump.

The two tricky parts:

1. The data in the dump is not sorted by railcar number, but the results in the monthly sheets need to be.

2. I don't believe LOOKUPS will work because rows in the dump repeat railcar numbers because of the multiple customers, and each of those rows has to be brought over to the monthly sheets, sorted and subtotaled by railcar number.

Finally, every week or so, I'm going to want to drop a new data dump in the dump sheet and need the monthly sheets to update dynamically. The new dump won't simply be rows added on to the same data as before, all the rows could be different. If this is solved most easily with a macro (i.e. drop the new data in the dump sheet, press a macro button and it populates the monthly sheets)

I'm trying to introduce some VBA code to an existing workbook that will automatically sort column A alphabetically on Sheet 2 (Summary) (excluding rows 1 & 2 as they contain headings) whenever the workbook is opened.

At the moment this code doesn't automatically run and when I run it manually I get a run-time error '91' the first time I try and when I run it for a second time (again manually) it works.

I have a program that uses the Document Open event to display a custom form. This program is being used on about 50 computers for the past 8 years with no problems. One user has a problem now. They can open the program once and the code fires. But when the user tries to open the same file a second time, the "Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close" dialog box is displayed. The document that is recovered has no vba modules and no code in the Document open event. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office Professional. Shut down all firewalls.

Excel 2010 :: Opens To Blank Row After Last Row Of Data?

When I had Excel 2010 and now with Excel 2013, whenever I open a workbook, it opens and displays to the row AFTER the last row of data. (So, if my last row of data is 38205, it will open starting at row 38206...hence I see no data until I hit Ctrl+Home). I have not found anything about this on the internet and I cannot find a setting. I need Excel to open to A1 so I don't freak out every time I open a workbook and see no data.
