Disabling Macro When Condition Met

Dec 5, 2009

I have recorded a simple macro that refreshes a set of random data in my sheet everytime I click on the button I made.
When I see a zero in one of the cells I know to stop refreshing. The thing is, I click on the button quite rapidly and sometimes miss the zero. I need to click on this button quite quickly so slowing down isnt an option!
What I need is for excel to stop that button operation when it sees a zero in one of the cells.

Disabling A Macro If The Outcome Of It Already Exists

Jul 25, 2006

I have a macro implemented in my worksheet which plots graphs. When you press it, it plots a graph.

What i would like it to also do is:
(a) create a tab name which states Graph_1.45 {last bit is whatever the name of the data worksheet is}. - so for example i will eventually have 20 worksheets of data of the same form as the attachment. Each will have the option of the graph. So each will haveits own name, by pressing the graph button the name thatis given is Graph_"whatever the tab sheet of data's name is".

(b) Now the problem is if a user forgets to delete the worksheet it comes up with an error. Is there a way by which if the graph already exists the macro comes up with a message "Graph already exists" and gives an option to delete that graph and plot nbew one?

Running Private Sub From A Macro

Mar 17, 2014

I have 3 different sheets with a private sub on each all labelled

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()

The macro's runs fine on each page.

I want to put a macro on a separate sheet that i can run each of those macro's

I did initially copy the original private macro and change the

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()

to

sub report()

But I couldn't do all 3 in the same manner. i did change each name to something different... the other 2 subs did run, but they didn't do anything except put the massage box on the end saying that "the macro has finished".

The private macros are on sheets 26, 28 and 12.

How To Call A Private Module.Macro From Within ThisWorkbook

Oct 17, 2003

When in a ThisWorkbook macro, I want to call a sub/macro in a Module. Usually you can just do a CALL MACRO1, and it will find it. But my MACRO1 is Private as I don't the users to be able to do a Tools, Macro, Macros and see it. So I don't want to make it a Public macro. So how do I call the private sub/macro from within ThisWorkbook?

Can I proceed the sub/macro's name with the name of the module, kind of like CALL MODULE1.MACRO1? Or do I have to make it public?

Deleting / Disabling Macro Once Macro Run?

Feb 18, 2014

I have a couple of macros in the book that plug through a list of "stores", input the store number in a cell, then copy the results to a new workbook, value out the formulas, and save it, before moving onto the next store. There are also 2 types of stores, "STORES" and "CORPORATE", and the sheet toggles some things based on this input. One of those things is a "ON CHANGE" macro that hides and unhides rows appropriately. Everything works in my Master sheet, but the problem is that once I copy the page (and the macro embedded) to a new workbook, I save to a lower version of Excel and it all gets hung up on the embedded macro.

Is there a way to disable/delete the macro once it goes to the new book? I've tried "Application.EnableEvents = False" and i think this is the right route, but i think maybe i'm placing it in the wrong place(s).

Here;s my code:

Code:
Sub CREATE_REPORT()

' PY12 Macro

Call Private Macro But Do Not Copy Code To New File

Apr 27, 2012

I don't mind if the code is tranfered to saved file if in fact I can make sure the code is not run when the new file is opened...

Everything is working as intended at the moment, but when openeing the saved file the entire macro tried to run again. This is what I do not want...

I currently have the following code in Module1.

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
'
' Format_Copy_&_Paste

Application.OnKey "^+r", "Warehouse_Cost_Summary"

Sheets("Sheet1").Select
Sheets("Sheet1").Name = "DataSet"

Use Private Sub Function To Store Clicked Cell As Variable For Use In Macro?

Apr 20, 2013

I have a spreadsheet with near 300 tabs, each with a picture in the tab. The main tab has a list of all other tabs, the goal is to allow the user to click on a cell next to an entry, and have Excel flash the referenced tab to allow the user to see what the entry is referencing. I have written a simple macro that activates a desired tab, unhides it, displays a message box to pause the macro, rehides the tab, then returns the user to the main tab.

Rather than creating a macro for all 300 tabs and creating buttons I would love to use the Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByBal Target As Range) or some variation thereof, to make my life much easier. The name of the tab is in cell A2, so I would want to have the user click on cell A1, activate the macro, then take A1 to A2 with something like A1 = A(x+1)->A2, then display the tab listed in A2. So rather than have 300 macros with Sheets("XYZ").Visible = True, I would love it to read Sheets(contents of referenced cell).Visible = True. with the contents of referenced cell coming from some manipulation of the cell I clicked on...

Macro Referencing Named Range In Worksheets Private Module

I'm having trouble calling a defined range within a VLOOKUP function in VBA. If the named range is located on the same sheet within which you are running the macro, everything runs fine and all is well in the world.

However, after I relocated the range to a separate sheet (a 'SourceData' sheet to tidy up the user interface sheet), I was getting the following error message:

Method 'Range' of object '_Worksheet' failed

The name is correctly defined - Range("DaysInYear").Select still picks up the correct selection - it's just the VLOOKUP will no longer function correctly.

Here is part of the macro's

Make Spacebar Act As Tab Key (temporarily)

Apr 29, 2014

I've set up a method to register users so they can use my applications. Very simple, First Name/Last Name/Scan your ID card. Unfortunately, that is apparently not "idiot-proofed" enough for some of my users. They keep entering their full name into the first name section, then they'll repeat the same information (full name) in the last name section. I swear they're doing this kind of stuff just to annoy me and see if they can break what I build.

Anyway, is there a way to change a single cell so that if the user hits the spacebar, it will simply tab to the next cell.

Suspend SheetActivate Event Temporarily?

Dec 14, 2011

I have a Sheet Activate code so that when going through a workbook, range a1 is always selected.

However, i have another macro, which navigates through each monthly sheet in the workbook, and uses cell a19 as a 'topleft' const cell, with a time delay, so that i can view a chart in the same place for each month on each monthly worksheet, kind of like a journey through time.

The problem i have, is that i need the sheet activate functionality when normally navigating through the sheet, but this overrides my macro which needs to open sheets with cell a19 as the top left cell.

So my question is, can you disable a sheet activate sub at the beginning of a macro, and activate it again at the end?

Temporarily Hide Transactions In Bank Statement?

Feb 3, 2014

I have downloaded some of my bank statements in excel format but they are just static data - ie, they are just numbers in boxes and the BALANCE column does not react when I take out a transaction.

I have put in a formula for the BALANCE column so it does now take its value from the previous day plus or minus transactions, but now I want to do additional things.

- How would I, for example, categorise several transactions as "HOLIDAY" [URL] ....... and then temporarily make them disappear so that I can see the effect of that on my balance? I can see how to hide/unhide transactions but that doesn't actually seem to have any impact on the balance column.

- Second query: how do I make my current spreadsheet a template so that when I download the next bunch of bank statements I can just apply all the formulae in this one to it?

Excel 2003 :: VBA - Worksheet Object Temporarily Disappeared

Oct 25, 2011

I have a simple macro that cycles through the sheets in a workbook, and if the sheet's codename matches one of a defined list, some of its data is added to a summary sheet.

The macro works exactly as intended, but a strange thing happened yesterday: some data was missing from the summary sheet because one of the sheets was being ignored. This sheet is named 'MCP' on its tab, and has codename Sheet8.

Here's the strange part: on stepping through the code, cycling the sheets, I noticed that the sheet icon, name and codename had disappeared from the Microsoft Excel Objects folder in the Project Explorer. When the loop got to the sheet in question

Code:
For Each ws In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
Debug.Print ws.Name
Debug.Print ws.Codename

The above code displayed its name (correctly) as 'MCP', but its codename was blank; the sheet was therefore skipped by the code because the codename had to match against a defined list.

While I was pondering this, and doing some web searches, the sheet then re-appeared in the Project Explorer and everything worked again.

My question is this: is it likely to be due to the workbook being shared? I know that workbook sharing in Excel is often discouraged, but this is a simple workbook only used by a maximum of three users (two of these had the workbook open at the time the issue was reported)

I've changed the code so that the sheet name is inspected in the event that the codename is blank, which should guard against the issue provided sheets are not deleted/renamed.

Disabling A COM Add-In

Feb 26, 2010

Is there a way using VBA that will allow me to disable a COM Add-in when I open a workbook without me (or the user) going through the steps to remove it first.

The reason for my asking is this: We have installed SAS Add-in 2.1 to Excel 2007. So this brings up SAS under the Add-Ins tab. But then when my program executes and it sees I use command bars, it adds my command bars under the SAS menu. I am trying to make the interface as clean as possible for the user, so they only see my command bars or menus.

Also, if we were to install the SAS Add-in 4.2 to Excel 2007, I have read in a SAS paper that SAS Add-in 4.2 creates its owe tab on the ribbon instead of inside the Add-in tab. So I would be able to use xml to make the SAS tab visible="false".
