Dec 11, 2013Do we have control over the font size in a drop down list created using data validation?
Mine looks like this and I would like to make it more readable by increasing the font size.

Nov 21, 2006I have noticed that all the cell dropdown lists i have (created by using Data | Validation | Allow | List) are very difficult to read its as though the font is size 8 or 6 or even less, is there a way of displaying the dropdown contents in a larger format? i have tried changing the font size of the named range and of the cell holding the dropdown but to no avail.

Oct 5, 2007Using excel 2007, I have a worksheet with numerous data validation drop down lists. I was making a few changes to the worksheet and then I restarted the code. The font size of all my drop down lists displayed as a smaller font (maybe 2 sizes smaller) than had been displayed before. I went back to a previously saved copy of the code and the font size in the drop downs is back at the original size. Did I do something to cause this or is it excel 2007?

The idea is that I can then compare their answer sheet to a pre completed one using an =IF function and get a total score. The only problem is =if and =exact only lookup cell text/numbers and don't look at how the text is formatted within them.

Jun 10, 2013I have my Excel set up for a default font size of 12 point.
I often download CSV data to insert into spreadsheets. It opens in a new spreadsheet, and it's properly displayed in 12 point size. When i copy and paste it into the ultimate target spreadsheet (which is also set to 12 point size) the pasted data shows up as 10-point and I have to change the font size back to 12-point every time.
Why is this happening and how can I avoid that re-sizing that occurs?

Mar 18, 2009I currently have an Excel spreadsheet already created. I have added drop down lists using the Validation>Data feature and can get this to create the drop-down box, but the font is unreadable. If I create a new sheet and create the drop-down list it becomes readable. I can't figure out why the first is unreadable due to its small size. I eventually plan to add formulas to calculate how many yes's or no's in a column, but will address that later. I use Excel 2003.

it works ok for me in 2007(either thro dropdown or direct input) but user with excel 2003 cant get it to work at all, named range "drop" is just A B C D and is used in data validation dropdown col A

Drop Down List Font Size
Jul 28, 2007How do you increase the font size of a drop down list in excel apart from zooming in. I have 10 dropdwnbxs each with about 16 items.
Everything works fine but users can not see the contents of each drop down box(fonts are too small). Is there a solution to this? (or just keep zooming in/out). Example i have a drop down box in A2 with source from F2:F17.....etc

I can make it readable by changing the magnification of the sheet to 150-200%, but that takes the rest of the sheet out of view, interferes with functionality, and is just an all-around pain in the butt. Dropdown List Using Data Validation
Feb 25, 2014I have a list on one worksheet and I use a dropdown list from Data Validation to select the name required.
My list is so long that I would like to be able to type a letter or two to access to the name quicker instead of scrolling down.
I copied a formula that worked for someone else that put this formula in the data validation

Apr 9, 2009We've got a dropdown box (data validation - list) which is picking up data from a specific column. The data in the column is in the following format:
1 Sales
2 Contracts
18 Opening Stock
27 Purchase
etc
When we select an entry from the dropdown box the cell obviously displays both the number and the text description to the right. What we need it to do is just display the number after selecting an item from the list. The text is descriptive and to make it easier for users. Is there a way of configuring the dropdown box (or another way) so that say if a user selects "1 Sales" from the dropdown it just displays "1" in the cell.

Can I have a cell rage.. say A2:E20...and every cell in it has a drop down data validation list, from data inputted into L2:L27 (For examples lets say L2 is A, L3 is B, L4 is C, L5 is D and so on).
if somewhere in the range A2:E20, say B6 I was to select D from the drop down list, I want the remainder of the cells in range A2:E20, to have the drop down list without the value D in it, and so on, so the more cells in the range I fill from the list, the list for empty cells gets smaller and smaller until there are none left.

Jun 13, 2013i created a drop down list from data validation and it's a list of names. as i select from the list of names, i just want the initials of the names to be shown, not the entire name itself.

Dropdown Menu Data Validation?
Sep 12, 2012I am trying to create a drop down menu in Excel to display certain values but it's not working. I want to input certain data in the cells. eg, 019, Quebec, Agent, Direct etc. I want to create a drop down list where if 019 is selected, all 019 entries would show up hiding all others. When nothing is selected all values would show up. I created a list but if I have 10 "Agent" entries in the cells, the drop down list also shows 10 "Agent entries rather than letting me select "Agent" and then displaying all agent entries below. I don't know if it makes sense but I basically want to make it easier for people to look for certain entries that they need rather than going through the entire spreadsheet to find all 019's.

Disappearing Data Validation Dropdown
Jun 26, 2006All of a sudden, the data vaildation dropdown boxes on a specific worksheet have disappeared. The list reference is still correct and the data validation dropdowns work just fine on other sheets in the same workbook. (BTW-I'm using Excel 2003 and the panes are not frozen).

Feb 22, 2013I have executed this macro from this spreadsheet many times but today, after I execute the macro, the box increased in size. I repositioned it on the page, resized it and re-executed. Now it is decreasing the font size within the button each time I execute. It executed just fine yesterday. I assume it's some setting in excel because I've tried another spreadsheet and am seeing the same result.
