How to retrieve the password of my excel file?
File is attached. Control-CheckFile.xlsm
I have a sheet which i made ages ago and cant remember my pw. I can goto the alt, F11 select the macro and run it which i have set from all sheets to hide, and i can change the wording on the sheets but i cant open the code.
Does this mean i will have to forget about it unless i remember the pw?
I have a sheet that is password protected. I have this code attached to a command button. It will unlock the worksheet, autofilter it, print it, unfilter it, and password protect the sheet again. However it is protecting it without a password. I need to have it protected with the password so that someone will not be able to just go to tools to unprotect the sheet.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "rainforest"
Columns("O:O").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=">0", Operator:=xlAnd
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1
Selection.AutoFilter
ActiveSheet.Protect DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True _
, AllowSorting:=True, AllowFiltering:=True
End Sub
One of my work colleagues need to add a worksheet to an existing Excel Spreadsheet which has VBA behind it, but the worksheet is password protected. The developer who wrote the application has now left, so we have no idea what the password is. Is there anyway of getting round it, like cracking into the spreadsheet to find out the password, or another way?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have set up a workbook with a tab for each month. in the workbook open module i have the following code (below marked Password protect) that allows for three passwords to unlock certain ranges of cells, what i would like to do is for this code to apply to each worksheet.
Now in the main this works except for one range of cells H11 to H1000, on every sheet all cells are locked except for this range which is unlocked in every sheet except sheet one when you enter the password staff. The only other code i have is for a time stamp (marked time stamp) so that i can monitor when the user has entered data. this again has reference to the sheet name.
their must be something really straight forwad i am doing wrong here as everything works on an sheets except this range being locked.
I am in excel 2002 but my users are on 98, which is why i am protecting in VB rather than using the prtect range option.
modify the code below to do the following:
When I recorded this macro shown below, I entered in a password (twice) as prompted by Excel 2003.
So when I run this code, it seems to work fine. However, when I want to unprotect the worksheet, I am not prompted to enter in the password.
modify the code so that when I need to unprotect the worksheet, I am prompted to enter in the password?
the user is prompted with a password inputbox to both protect and unprotect my worksheet named: Data. I am using Excel 2003.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had the thought that maybe it would be possible to have a worksheet that is not protected when saved but when it is opened there would be a sub-routine under Sub_Workbook Open that would step through each sheet and assign a random password. And when the workbook is saved it is saved without passwords again.
In this way there would be nothing for a password cracker to pick at. The only flaw I see would be that the password to open the VBA module would need to be static and this would open up the programming to change and remove. But wouldn't this be effective against most users who would only know about the utilities to open the passwords and not the programming behind excel.
I have a workbook where I need to protect the sheets with a password. However, for certain macros contained in the workbook to run the sheets need to be unprotected. I know the code to unprotect the sheet but the password is required. I do not want other users to know this password.
What I need is the code to protect a worksheet with a password. Then, when a macro runs, to unprotect without user having to enter the password and reprotect with the original password when the macro has completed its run. note: I am NOT looking for any form of password breaking code!!
We had an Excel worksheet that is used everyday suddenly pop up with protection. I have used protection before, but this one never had a password. We put in every known password we use, but none worked. I resigned to re-typing the worksheet, then, in between Friday night, and Saturday noon, when most of the office is out, a different Excel worksheet has the same problem. We are using Excel 97.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know of the password protect feature to open a excel file or workbook, but does anyone know if this can be done for opening a worksheet.
I want to be able to view a worksheet after a password is entered, so therefore different worksheets have different passwords.
What if you forgot the password in a protected sheet? is there a way to unlock it?

View 14 Replies View RelatedAll my macros in Module 1 work OK when I password protect my Excel 2003 worksheet named: Data. The only code that does not work when I password protect my worksheet is the Private Sub shown below. If I do not use a password, it works OK. As soon as I enter a password to protect my worksheet, the code below no longer works.
In ThisWorkbook, the following code shows the password to be password. In reality, there is a different password.
I have the following VBA in my spreadsheet.
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
ActiveSheet.Unprotect ("kellyz")
If Intersect(Target, Columns("o:o")) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
For Each C In Intersect(Target, Columns("O:O"))
[Code] ......
As soon as i type anything in the columns, my sheet is unprotected. I need the sheet protected so that the users can not change my formulas.
Here is my macro, how do I add the password to make it work properly?
Sub unprotect()
' unprotect Macro
' Macro recorded 12/30/2004 by '
ActiveSheet.unprotect
ActiveWorkbook.unprotect
End Sub
Both the sheet and the workbook are protected and use the same password

I am trying to create a log-in page on a userform, frmlogin in "sheet3." The userform is simply a textbox, Username (txtuser) and a textbox, Password (txtpass). Command Button is cmdcheck
I want the User to enter their username and password and for my macro to verify that they match referencing data in a seperate worksheet, (Sheet6).
Upon verification I want the user to be unloaded on "sheet1"
I am currently getting this message: "unable to get vlookup property of the worksheetfunction class"
VB:
Private Sub cmdcheck_Click()
Dim Username As String
Username = txtuser.Text

I know how to protect a worksheet with a password so that no one can amend the contents or view the formulas in the cells. And then we can un-protect the worksheet by clicking on the "review" tab in excel 2007 and so on. But recently I came across an excel sheet which was password protected and my query is that the "Review" tab was greyed out. What kind of protection was this that clicking on "review" tab option is also unavailable. And how does these kind of sheets get unlocked then.

Is there any method to disable notification / error message of password protected sheet when we try to edit restricted cells?
Note: In my scenario I've to allow user to select protected cell; that's why cell selection redirection is not useful for my.
I have a worksheet where parts of it is locked with a password. I have a data validation cell with a drop down list. I want to set a password to select and change only that cell.
I don't want the list in the cell to be shown without the password

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a protected sheet so specific people can only see certain things. I would like code to Unhide a tab called "Estimating" and unhide Rows 2 through 9 and rows 24, 26 and 27.
I have this password protected Excel template (v.2002), it includes one particular drop-down box, which is not a data validation choice selection, but a 'object' drop-down box which offers choices linked to a hidden value, via the INDEX function. The issue arises when I password protect the template and attempt to select from the available choices, I get a dialog box telling me the "the cell or chart...is password protected and...read-only"..."To modify...remove protection". I imagined checking the "Edit Objects" selection, upon protecting the worksheet would have avoided any problems, but that doesn't do the job.
I have a workbook which contains multiple worksheets of employees' information. I'm hoping to share this workbook out. Each employee only able to view and update their own worksheet and their manager, being able to view/update everything within the workbook.
I have created a worksheet and password protected, I know the password but now want to send to someone and remove the password protection option instead of them having to use a password to open it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been really trying to get this sorted myself and I can get it to work with one exception. I can't get the sheet to lock with a password. It locks, but if I try to unlock it again, it does so without prompting me to enter a password.
Essentially I am wanting to unprotect two sheets, unlock the cells that were previously locked (so users couldn't enter data in them when the sheet is protected), then reapply the same password to protect the sheet, but now they will be able to enter data in the unlocked range of cells).
The second macro is to reverse the changes made in the first and 're-lock' the unlocked cells) (and again apply the same password to the sheet).
this is the code I have used.
Sub PART_YEAR()
Sheets("2012 Calculator 1 week").Select
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "taado"
Range("D20:D23").Select
Selection.Locked = False
Selection.FormulaHidden = False
Sheets("2012 Calculator 2 week").Select
[Code]...
I am assuming I have superfluous code in there, in addition to my mistake with the reapplication of the password.
I have a 2010 excel workbook with several locked worksheet (to which I manage the PW). I and another staff member manage different section of the macro but the other staff member doesn't have access to the locked areas.
Is there a way I can encrypt the password within VBA so it's not visible to the other staff member?
Locking the VBAProject doesn't work as the other staff member has to be able to edit his VBA section.
Many staff run the macro (via a button) and don't need to access the Macro and don't have access to the protected sheets.
I understand excel isn't ideal with PW protection for people wanting to bypass the protection and this isn't an issue.
When opening a new Excel file, it is asking me for a password to an old excel file that was password protected, which I have deleted from my computer. It is still asking for this password every time I open a new or existing file. When I hit cancel it lets me open the file.
