Excel 2010 :: Hide Worksheet Password In VBA Code Without Project Protection
Nov 5, 2012
I have a 2010 excel workbook with several locked worksheet (to which I manage the PW). I and another staff member manage different section of the macro but the other staff member doesn't have access to the locked areas.
Is there a way I can encrypt the password within VBA so it's not visible to the other staff member?
Locking the VBAProject doesn't work as the other staff member has to be able to edit his VBA section.
Many staff run the macro (via a button) and don't need to access the Macro and don't have access to the protected sheets.
I understand excel isn't ideal with PW protection for people wanting to bypass the protection and this isn't an issue.

I have created a worksheet and password protected, I know the password but now want to send to someone and remove the password protection option instead of them having to use a password to open it.

I have a workbook where I need to protect the sheets with a password. However, for certain macros contained in the workbook to run the sheets need to be unprotected. I know the code to unprotect the sheet but the password is required. I do not want other users to know this password.
What I need is the code to protect a worksheet with a password. Then, when a macro runs, to unprotect without user having to enter the password and reprotect with the original password when the macro has completed its run. note: I am NOT looking for any form of password breaking code!!

I`m struggling to insert password protection to code.If Yes is selected from the messagebox then a messagebox opens and asks for a password.
Code:
Sub DeleteRanges()
If MsgBox("Are you sure you want to delete data ?", vbYesNoCancel + vbExclamation, "Delete data") = vbYes Then
With Sheets("Score")
For i = 3 To 273 Step 10
.Range("D" & i).Resize(7, 11).ClearContents
Next
End With
End If
End Sub

All my macros in Module 1 work OK when I password protect my Excel 2003 worksheet named: Data. The only code that does not work when I password protect my worksheet is the Private Sub shown below. If I do not use a password, it works OK. As soon as I enter a password to protect my worksheet, the code below no longer works.
In ThisWorkbook, the following code shows the password to be password. In reality, there is a different password.

I used VBA codes to apply different passwords for different worksheets in a single excel workbook. They worked fine. Then i applied a password to the VBA code itself through the VBA project properties. Also worked.
But my problem is that, if any one enters a wrong password to open any of the worksheets, the VBA will open an error message window and when "end" option is clicked, the VBA code will open without any prompt for the password.Thus the entire purpose is defeated.

I'm trying to protect my project so that others can't unhide a sheet I have tagged as veryhidden within VB.
I followed these steps:
1. Select project in the projects window
2. choose Tools
3. Project Properties
4. Protection tab
5. checked lock porject for viewing
6. entered passwords twice
7. clicked ok and saved
On another file this has worked perfectly as I wanted it to.
However on another very large file with multiple VB projects it is not "taking" on the project I need it to.
I can open the file, the VB project and change the setting on any sheet I need to without entering a password.

I have got an issue. in MSE 2003, this beginning of macro worked:
Sub Consolide()
MYFOLDER = "D:DATAMypath"
In MSE 2010, it gives me an error: "Can't find project or library"
I really know that my path is defined fine, because it worked perfect before MS update.

I have a macro that seems to work okay for older versions of Excel - I use Office XP (2002) tell me if this will work for newer versions (2007 / 2010)?
KB1017 - Trust access to VBA project
Code:
Function VBATrusted() As Boolean
On Error Resume Next
VBATrusted = (Application.VBE.VBProjects.Count) > 0
Exit Function
End Function
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
If Not VBATrustedAccess() Then
[code]....
I was thinking that i should probably have
VBATrusted = -1
as the third line so that it is negative unless the tick is there. No way of checking older versions right now though.

I've used VBA to make a picture appear when all the correct answers have been entered and it all works well. However, not to be too mean to 15 year olds, many of my students can be devious little feckers, and I want to hide and password protect the VBA code so that they can't just change the pictures visible section to true. I can password protect the workbook and worksheet, but not the VBA.
I'm entering the Visual Basic editor and I can see my simple script. I then click Tools - VBproject properties - protection. I'm clicking the "Lock Project for Viewing" box then filling in the password and confirming the password and clicking OK. But I can still see and edit my script, despite protecting the sheet and workbook.

I am trying to use the status of Conditional Formatting to toggle on/off protection for a cell.
I have a cell with Conditional Formatting applied if the result of a formula is true. If the Conditional Formatting is applied, I want the cell protection turned on so a user can not change the entry in the cell. If Conditional Formatting is not applied (false), cell protection is turned off and the user may edit.
I am using Excel 2010 and Vista.

My task is to consolidate 4 Excel Project Lists (Workbooks) to a Master Workbook. The Project Lists has a different structure and almost different content. The relevant information is always on Sheet1 but it has completely different ranges. The only constant is the Project Number, which should be used to sort the information. Every Project should be listed only once with all the existing information.
I found a code written by Ron de Bruin which has already some components that I want to have in my VBA but I think there are still a lot of necessary adjustments to do.
Code:
Sub MergeSelectedWorkbooks()
Dim SummarySheet As Worksheet
Dim FolderPath As String
Dim SelectedFiles() As Variant
Dim NRow As Long
Dim FileName As String
Dim NFile As Long
Dim WorkBk As Workbook
[code]....
The Master Project List should has the headers in Row1 and the information listed below. The Macro should automatically places the correct information to the correct column. Some of the information are in 2 or more of the lists but they should be listed only once in the Master List.
Project Number
Project Description
...
1111E.000000001
[code]....
I guess a problem is that the structures of the Lists are quite different so there must be a kind of sorting process.
In the end I want to have an Excel File with the Macro and a Command Button and by clicking the Macro creates a new Workbook with the Master List.
It would be better if there is a variable range instead of a defined. Like the Macro searches the last row and starts at this row and column.

I have an Excel 2007 workbook which has five sheets in. I just wondered whether it is possible to hide all five of them when the workbook is first opened. Also I would like the user to be asked for a password when they wish to unhide a sheet, with the password being different for each of the sheets.
Is there also a way to do this which won't be affected by Excel disabling all Macros when the application initially opens.

I am trying to get excel to open a MS Project file and then run a project macro on it.
What is happen is that when I run my code it works, and then excels VBA window freezes up and the run arrow goes away, and if I try to open project I just get a chiming noise and it won't open.
For now I have to select the MS Project file from a directory, but in the future I would like it to go through the folder and open all of the file in the folder
EXCEL CODE
Sub ImportMSProject()
Dim FileToOpen
Dim mpApp As MSProject.Application
Dim prjmacro As Object
'Identify the File to Open - START
FileToOpen = Application.GetOpenFilename("Microsoft Project Files (*.mpp), *.mpp")
If FileToOpen = False Then
Exit Sub
End If
'Identify the File to Open - END
[code].....

I use the following piece of code to show/hide certain worksheets in a workbook. To access the hidden sheets, a command button runs the code. It works very well, except that the password is openly displayed in the message box (as opposed to returning asterisks for the typed characters).
Sub togglesheets()
Dim Ws As Worksheet
Dim strPassword As String
strPassword = InputBox("Enter Password")
If strPassword "Password" Then MsgBox "Wrong Password": Exit Sub
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
For Each Ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets
If Ws.Name = "Apr-Sep" And Ws.Visible = xlSheetVisible Then
Ws.Visible = xlSheetVeryHidden
ElseIf Ws.Name = "Apr-Sep" And Ws.Visible = xlSheetVeryHidden Then
Ws.Visible = xlSheetVisible
End If..............

I change those files to "VeryHidden". Then I protect the workbook's VBA code by going to Tools->VBAProject- Project Properties-> Protection tab and adding a password. This worked great as it allowed all the other sheets to function as intended, but didn't allow the users to access the sheets that were hidden.
However, we recently upgraded to Excel 2007, and the password protection is stripped whenever the file is saved with the extension .xlsx. I can save it as a "macro-enabled" file with the extension .xlsm, but all that needs to be done to remove the password is to save it with the .xlsx extension again. Is there something that can be done in Excel 2007 to protect VBA code, or am I doing something completely wrong?
