Formula Results In A Defined Name

May 7, 2009

Is I have a VLOOKUP formula which results in a defined name- great! but when I reference that result in another formula I get a #REF error, if I type the defined name directly in to the formula (index btw) all works but I need the formula to recognise the referenced cell.

Example

=VLOOKUP(B8,Cable.Table,2) this results in a defined name of a table (D1A) in cell B30

The cell B30 is named "table". I then have another formula in B33 which is:

=index(B30,B47,C12) or =index(table,B47,C12) Which gives me the #REF error

If I input =index(D1A,B47,C12) the function works but it needs to be the initial reference from the result of the other formula and recognise that it is a defined name.

Change Formula To The Results Of The Formula For Cells That Have Results

May 9, 2006

I have a range that has formulas that are based on other fcells outside the range.

What I want to do is, if the cell has a value to remove the formula and paste the results. If the filed is blank (no results from the formula) to leave the formula in place.

There could be a marco to run when this process is needed.

Results Show Results Of Formula, But Should Be Blank

Jul 27, 2006

I am trying to create formula that will show overtime worked in a given day. The code I am using is a simple one ([ cell - 8], for hours worked). The problem is when the time cells are blank/not used it shows a -8 in the cell. what I need to do to create a code that will eliminate the -8 from showing. The cell its self is taking the result from another cell with a formula and then subtracting 8 from the result of the formula in the other cell.

Excel 2003 :: Stuck On User-defined Type Not Defined Error?

Trying to convert an Excel 2003 macro to work in Excel 2007.

The problem line is

I suspect the problem is a Missing Reference, but I cannot figure out which one. I have the same ones (in 2007) as 2003 except for one which is not showing

Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library

Is this the one it needs? It is called something else in 2007?

The ones I do have ticked are

Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library
OLE Automation
Microsoft Office 12.0 Object Library
Microsoft ADO Ext. 2.8 for DDL and Security
Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library

Set Bold To Font On Another Worksheet: Application Defined Or Object Defined Error

Aug 25, 2006

'Code1
Call movedata(1, rrow, ecol, erow)
'Contact Person
Call movedata(26, rrow, ecol, erow)
Worksheets("new").Activate
Worksheets("new"). Range(Cells(erow, ecol), Cells(erow, (ecol - 2))).Font.Bold = True
'Name
Call movedata(2, rrow, ecol, erow)
'Street Address
Call movedata(3, rrow, ecol, erow)

' zip
Call movedata(5, rrow, ecol, erow)
Worksheets("new").Range(Cells(erow, ecol)).Font.Bold = True
' speed dial
Call movedata(6, rrow, ecol, erow)

the first time font.bold is set to true, it completes w/o error. The bolded line returns 'application defined or object defined error 1004'. Ive tried activating the new sheet immediately before setting bold (like the first time it gets set) but it still errors.

Using A Defined Variable In A Formula

Mar 7, 2008

The macro then proceeds to write vlookup formulas in another workbook to pull data from the ServicingInfoFile workbook.

Only problem is that the code errors out at the vlookup formulas every time.

Can I not use a Variable in a formula?

Is it just my syntax?

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _
"=VLOOKUP(RC[-1],'" & ServicingInfoBook & "'!C1:C2,2,FALSE)"

Application-defined Or Object-defined Error On An Active Cell

Nov 22, 2008

I have a very strange problem in DEBUG mode, because i get this error "Application-defined or object-defined error" when referring to a cell and assigning it a value so it goes to my error handler and i have a Resume Next there. It continues to go through the code whilst continuing to go to the error handler but when i step out of the function it restarts again from the beginning on the called function and then on the second run of my code it seems to WORK!?! So i'm thinking what the hell is going on, it falls over and fails the first time round and works the second time round?
In free-run mode from excel i just get a #VALUE!
