Function Decimal To Hours
Mar 27, 2007
I'm trying to do is to convert an hours per week field as a decimal into hh:mm as text. For example, 22.8 would convert to 22:48.
Public Function DecToHours(Ldecimal1 As Long)
Dim Ldecimal2 As Long
Dim Shours As String
Ldecimal1 = ActiveCell - Round(ActiveCell, 0)
Ldecimal2 = (ActiveCell - Ldecimal1) * 60
Shours = Round(ActiveCell, 0) & ":" & Ldecimal2
End Function

I have a spreadsheet that keeps track of my flight time by the day and then totals it for the month however, I keep it in a decimal number (i.e. 89.23). I want the final total number to be in Hours and Minutes hhh:mm and can not for the life of me figure out the formula to make it come out in hours and minutes. I can either convert the one final decimal number over to hours and minutes or add the entire collumn of decimal numbers and have THAT total converted to hours and minutes. It's doesn't matter to me. I just can't figure out the formula.

I was messing around with a simple countdown timer and need a little help converting a decimal into a format of #days, #hours, #minutes and #seconds.
Cell A1 has target to countdown to 4/14/2010 12:00:00 AM
Cell A2 contains =NOW()
Cell A3 contains =A1-A2 with the result being 69.4021441 with the amount of decimal places varying depending on when it is refreshed.
I'd Like the result in A3 to read something like "There are 69 days, XX hours, XX minutes and XX seconds until event"

I am a truck driver and keep a record of my loading times when I am loading and unloading. At the end of a trip i transfer all the data to my computer, then "auto sum" the "HOURS" and the "MINUTES" columns. At the bottom of ech trip I end up with figures, lets say 32 (hours) in column "J" and 303 (minutes) in column "K".
Now 303 minutes is {5 hours and 3 minutes}. Now we all know that mathematically we can work out that {3} minutes is 0.05 of 1 hour and that would make the total time worked 32 (hours) + 5 (hours(from the minutes)) + the last 3 minutes and the total is 37 hours and 3 minutes.
What I am in need of is a formula that will take the hours in column "J" add the hours from column "K", leaving the minutes to be converted to 0.05, giving me a total in cell "M29" that can then be multiplied by the wage rate in cell "M30", giving me an amount that I should be paid in cell "M31"

I have two columns A and B. Column A contains problem title and column B is duration minutes. In column B we enter always min and seconds it took us to resolve certain issues (22.15 = 22 minutes and 15 seconds) . At the end of the month I need to run a report for my manager to show her by problem title how long it took my group to resolve issues and it should output as Hours/min/days.

I need to create a formula in a spreadsheet so that when KWD or BHD is entered into a cell then another cell changes to 8 decimal places if neither of these are in the box then it needs to be 7 decimals! But the box that is changing needs to be alterable.
I have posted this on a non excel specialised forums and i got this answer:
in cell x you have "kwd"
in cell y you put: =IF(cell X="kwd",TEXT(cell Z,"#,##0.00000000"),TEXT(CELL z,"#,##0.0000000"))
in cell Z you put the value that you want to be alterable

I am using this formula to output data into a cell:
=MID(A1,4,2)
The cell value is 50. I am wanting it to appear as 5.0 instead. Can I do this by adding to the formula above or will I need to utilize another cell to accomplish this?

I need a function to find the number of decimal places of a certain number (in this specific case doubles)
The first solution would be something like this:
Code:
'returns the number of decimal places within a double
Public Function getDecPlaces(inputNum As Double) As Long
Dim ndx As Long
ndx = InStr(1, inputNum, ".")
If ndx > 0 Then
getDecPlaces = Len$(CStr(inputNum)) - ndx
End If
End Function
But i feel there is likely a much better way of doing this..

I have a workbook that is being used by users with both "," and "." as decimal separator. This is working all fine, except for one cell, where I need the number output to be displayed with two decimals. See formula below:
="Open at " & TEXT(+OHL!J$13+OHL!H$15,"0.00") & " and Go"
This example does not work with "," decimal settings.
Is there any different way to force two decimals in a text string, except for TEXT (where the format given in itself limits the cross decimal separator functionality)?

I am trying to add four hours to a time. That I know how to do, but there is some added logic.
If I put a value in the first column I want to add logic to make the values in second column appear. It is basically adding four hours to a time value unless it is after 5pm, before 8am, etc. This partially works, but doesn't count for the 2pms, 3pms, 4pms, etc.
=IF(OR(G16>0.708333333333333,G16

I have created a userdefined function. the Idea is for the user to calculate the difference in hours and minutes. The input would be like budtime = 30 , realtime = 1.25 the answer I would like to have is 28:45 (28hours and 45 mins). Im aware that I can format the cell manually with [h]:mm but I'd like the function to do it.
I have written this:
Function RT(BudTime, RealTime)
RT = Format(((CDec(BudTime) - CDec(RealTime) / 24)), "[h]:mm")
End Function

As you can see on the example i have TEST hours.xlsx, I have a file that calculate the money every doctor should take based on the working hours.
Nights, holidays and holiday night have different price/hour.
The excel is working fine…but now I have to make a formula that separates automatically based on the beginning time and the end time of the doctor’s shift the day hours tha night hours, the holiday hours and the holiday nights hours.
In the excel I have fill the hours Manuscript, I need a formula to do that for me…
On the yellow cell I have try to find out the formula for the holiday hours but because the day is calculated due to a formula it is not working!!!
Simple Example: A doctor Is working from 21:00- 8:00 (next morning Sunday) he should have 1 simple hour (21:00-22:00) 9 night hours (22:00-6:00) and 2 holiday hours (6:00-8:00,)

Any function in Excel, that would allow me to have a unit cost price (for example: 0.5432) and then for a table of figures containing the pack sizes to determine the correct unit price that would allow all pack costs to be at 2 decimal places. I have included an example below:
My spreadsheet would look like the following:
Cell A1 (Unit Cost Price) = .5814
Cell A3 (Pack of 75 units) = .5814*75 = 43.605
Cell A4 (Pack of 80 units) = .5814*80 = 46.512
Cell A5 (Pack of 100 units) = .5814*100 = 58.14
and so on
I need some way of making cell A1 change to a value that will cause all cells A3 to A5 to be 2 decimal places or less.

I am in need of some excel advice relating to date calculations. Basically I need a function that is the equivalent of WORKDAY but for hours instead. I have a series of events that take a certain length of time to complete, most of them less than a day but some more than. By way of example see the screenshot below:
In reality the last three operations would have to take place on the 27th of April, with the Welding operation starting on the end of the 25th around 7pm. The plant is running a 24 hour day, and works 5 days a week. How can I calculate the times in hours offset rather than going day by day? I need to account for
* Weekends
* Fixed Holidays
* Operations running as seamlessly as possible
Any advice welcome. I have attempted to use WORKDAY with the number of days to deduct rounded to the nearest day and then subtracting the operation time but this results in errors where operations would cumulatively go over a working day. The objective is by knowing when the end product is needed and knowing how long each operation takes it is possible to discover when to start manufacture. VBA or Formula code is fine as this will be integrated into a VBA project.

10.10.2007 00:00
10.10.2007 06:00
10.10.2007 12:00
10.10.2007 18:00
11.11.2007 00:00
...

...etc
I need a function that increments this type of date format in a column.

I'm trying to create a work Rota and I'm having a bit of a problem with a certain section. In Worksheet 1 I have the following headings:
Cell A - Name
Cell B - Monday
Cell C - Tuesday
Cell D - Wednesday
etc
Under these headings is each member of staff and the hours they work, IE L (Late), E (Early), SD (Short Day) etc. In the final Column, it counts the number of hours that this person works (Early is 7.5). In Rows 46, there is a section here to work out how many people are working earlys, which is where I have the problem.
The hours are worked out by doing a lookup function on the cell that says E, L etc and goes to a CODES sheet and pulls the value of that letter. What I am wanting to do is lookup that Letter, which and look in the cell next to it and count how many people would be on an early etc.

I have a vba macro that takes data from one workbook and pastes it into another workbook. In doing this I have declared a few variables of type single (I only need two decimal precision). However, when I copy the values from the cells on the source workbook and paste them into the target workbook, the numbers end up having 12 decimal places. Ultimately, this extra precision causes my totals to be off by .01 or more after a while. I have tried rounding the number as I pull it off the source workbook into the variable, but that didn't matter. How do I solve this problem? Code for pulling data from source workbook:...

E.g. 10.01 in which 10 is feet and .01 is inch
I have all the length and width values in the above format. And what I want to do is convert the inch value (10.01) to feet value (.01=.08 feet) .
Just like the calculator here does.. [URL] ........
Like
10.01=10.08
10.02=10.16
10..03=10.25
...and so on...
Here is table of conversions from inches to decimal feet. But I don't know how to get a formula for this in excel...????
Inch Decimal of a Foot
1 inch 0.0833
2 inches 0.167
3 inches 0.250
4 inches 0.333
5 inches 0.417
6 inches 0.500
7 inches 0.583
8 inches 0.667
9 inches 0.750
10 inches 0.833
11 inches 0.917
12 inches 1.000

I am trying to create a unique sample code by putting together the values of other cells that a user will input. It's all working well apart from the last part, where I am trying to include a decimal number. I want the decimal number to appear without the central "." and in a four digit format. e.g. 2.5 would appear as 0250, 14.25 would appear as 1425. This is the formlua I am using currently:
=IF(ISBLANK(B4),"",IF(LEFT(C4,1)="w",(B4&"-"&TEXT(F4,"YYMMDD")&C4&TEXT(G4,"HHMM")),(B4&"-"&TEXT(F4,"YYMMDD")&C4&LEFT(TEXT(H4,"00"),2)&RIGHT(TEXT(H4,"00"),2))))
However, where the value of H4 is 2.5, I am getting a result of 0303 (I've put this part in bold). I have attached a small spreadsheet to aid understanding.

In column A I have a date AND time entered. By the way, this is not via cell format, I have manually entered, say today's date and the current time. In column B I have a future date and time.
Basically, column A is the date and time a problem was given to me. Column B would be the date and time I resolved the problem. Now for the formula....Column C needs to spit out whether the problem was solved between 24 and 48 hours OR less than 24 hours OR greater than 48 hours.

Lunch is not paid. Holiday and vacation hours get calculated at the regular pay rate. Overtime is anything in excess of 8 hours per day and/or in excess of 40 hours per week and/or over 5 working days per week. Saturdays for most the employees will be overtime because it will be their 6th workday of the week; but it will be regular time for one employee as it will only be his 5th workday of the week.
For accounting and payroll purposes, we need the totals to display in both hour and decimal format.
So far, I have Lunch, Regular and Overtime hours figured out, but I still need to work with Saturday, Vacation and Holiday hours. Also, currently, the time in and out has to be typed in with the colon and AM or PM. Is there another way to input the info without having to type in those items? I'm trying to make it as user friendly as possible.

Difference between
02/02/2010 08:00 & 03/02/2010 08:00 is 16 Hours 0 Minutes
=(INT(A3)-INT(C6))+MAX(MOD(A3,1)-MAX(MOD(C6,1)))
