How Do I Create A Running Average That Will Only Calculate The Averages In % Each Month
Mar 20, 2008
I need to do the following and can't figure it out. How do I create a running average that will only calculate the averages in % each month. Example: Opt 1 for Jan, Feb, Mar =1 each= 3 total = 100%; OPt 2 for Jan, Feb, Mar =1,0,1= 2 = 66%; Opt 3 for Jan, Feb, Mar = 0, 0, 1 = 1 total = 33%. My problems is I want monthly running average that shows the yearly percentage up to date but only for the months there is a value 1 or 0. How can this be done because the way I have it now, those % are being divided by 12 and that isn't the correct %
I have a spreadsheet that has columns of monthly values for three years of financial data and where the values for the latest month are added to the last column. Months that have not been completed will have a zero value (e.g. Jul-09).
Formula which can calculate how many days in a month and create a column for each day. Columns for day 28, 29, 30 or 31 also need the formulas in columns 1 to 27 copied over automatically. [sheet name "LARSheet1 to 1" ]
I'm trying to build "Leave, Attendance Management" system using Excel. I am about 40% there so far.
The basic structure of the workbook is as follows:
12x main monthly "Leave Attendance Record" worksheets (i.emonths April 2012 through to March 2013). [I will refer to these sheets asLARSheet1 to LARSheet12 ]. 1 x worksheet which holds "data validation" list andvlook up info. ["FormulaListSheet"] 1 x worksheet acting as a database of staff details andpay numbers. ["StaffdBaseSheet"] 1 x summary page which shows staff reaming leaveallocation. ["SummaryLeaveSheet"]
What I'm having problems with at the moment is as follows:
A formula or a macro which works out how many days are present in a given month [starting date of month located in CELL B10].
Days 1-27 will be already set up on the sheet. Based upon the monthly value I would like a solution which can calculate how many days are in a month and create a column for days 28, 29, 30 or 31 (depending on the month).
I would like it to work like this:
When the user opens a new worksheet, they first entre the month start date in CELL B10. Hopefully this will trigger columns E13:AH22 to update with the relevant week day & date.
I also need the formulas and formatting in cells AH13:AH100 (column for day 27) to copied over automatically.
I want a cell that takes each row in column B and subtracts column A from it... (10-5 for row 1). I want it to do that for all rows and then average that number. This would be easy if I were not using a pivot table with a lot of data.
For example: Column A Column B 5 10 2 9 6 8 1 4 6 7 1 1 6 2 6 8
Column 1 contains the number of times an ad has shown Column 2 contains the average position of the ad from column 1
Like so,
Ad Impressions.........................Avg Position Google: 14,220,023..........................3.2 Yahoo: 346,656...............................1.2 MSN: 123,234..................................8.9
Total: 14,689,913............................???
Doing the following,
= Average(B2,B3,B4)
This is not the real average as this is directly influenced by the number of ad impressions...
How can i make a real calculation to give me the true total average position of my ads?
I have a table that looks like this (its basically a historical data of a stock exchange):
Date Index January 4, 2010
[Code]....
The List continues till the current Date.
I want to calculate Average Index Values of a Date of each month within a Date Range. Example: Calculate Average Index Values for 3rd of Each month from 1st Feb 2010 to 3rd Jan 2011. Formula should calculate Average of the Index Values for 3rd Feb 2010, 3rd March 2010, 3rd April 2010, 3rd May 2010, 3rd June 2010, 3rd July 2010, 3rd Aug 2010, 3rd Sept 2010, 3rd Oct 2010, 3rd Nov 2010, 3rd Dec 2010, 3rd Jan 2011.
Both the Date and the Date Range is variable. Also, the Index Value for selected Date of one or more month may not be available as that being a holiday. In that case, the formula needs to use the last available Index Value before that Date. e.g. If Index Value for 3rd Oct 2010 is not available, system will use the Index Value of 2nd Oct 2010.
I have a spreadsheet that we are using as a Skills Matrix for the team. The area that the team member deals with is listed in Row 3. The scores for each person are recorded in Columns D to M. The process steps being scored against are in Rows 8 to 38, and are seperated by the area of responsibility.
I am trying to work out the average scores of each person depending on their area of responsibility. I can work out the totals easily enough using:
This is becuase it adds the 2 averages instead of working out the total average score. Is there an easy way around this?
i.e. For team members who have CM in Row 3 I need an average of certain cells, for team members who have V in Row 3 I need a different average and for those team members with both CM and V I need an overall average.
I have a database with monthly tabs and a summary sheet, on the summary sheet I calculate an average length of stay for each month (tab) but I need to find the yearly average and I don't know if there is a formula that would calculate the true average by using the monthly averages.
I have the following data by week: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 29-Mar 5-Apr 12-Apr 19-Apr 26-Apr 3-May 10-May # of work days 4 4 4 4 5 5 5 Manpower 106 85 115 115 120 121 87 ------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a second tab, I want to show the data by month: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Apr May Jun # of workdays 21 (4+4+4+4+5) 21 20 Avg. manpower 108 104 ....
I have 3 columns (B,D,F) that have 15 minute data intervals and I need to calculate the hourly averages for each column but here is the catch, I need to do this from July-1-2011 00:00:00 to Sept-31-2011, 24:00:00 (that's 26,217 data points and 6,554 =average() calculations......
IS there syntax I could use that would calculate the average every 4-cells so I could get the hourly average without having to type =average(XX:XX) 6,554 times?
I am wondering if there is a function in excel to calculate the average of multiple percentages. Currently I rely on the following formula to achieve this result and I am curious if there is a quicker way:
Try this formula. .....
Just today I learned there is a function to calculate the compounded return (FVSCHEDULE). It does part of what I am looking to do by taking away the PRODUCT function and the array, but does not really simplify things. Using FVSCHEDULE my function would look like ....
Situation: I need to calculate a lot of averages of non-connected values. That is, they are separated by several rows (which also contain values). So far, I use the code-sample below (just to illustrate), which is not really elegant. Unfortunately, it seems that this technique comes to its limits when a high number of different non-connected values are combined into one string and get assigned to a formula- range (last line of code), which is where the program stops.
My question is: Is there a nice way to solve this? A way, which is not limited by the amount of data processed? The only way I could think of, would include a UDF, where a sum, sums all values up and then devides by the number of added sums ... but this would be relatively slow, and I have an awful lot of values to be averaged (100 sets * 6 rows * 200 values = 120.000 calculation- steps), as well as STDEV and a Standard Error of Mean (SEM) to calculate. Is there a better alternative?
Const intCells=9 'actually, this is no constant but a variable Const i=4 'actually, this is no constant, but a nested for- loop-value Const intLinesInBetween = 12 ' amount of lines, which separate my values Dim j As Integer 'simple counter, runs through all cells Dim rngUpperRow As Range 'Range of the upper row = normalized time vector Dim rngCurrentRowAvg As Range 'current row into which avg formulas are inserted Dim intCells As Integer ' amount of experiments in range............
On another thread I found a solution to creating a weighted average given a pair of columns of numbers but I have column B consisting of values given as High, Medium and Low and the weighted column C of 1, 2 or 3.
How can I use the formula below to accomplish this, or is this maybe not the right way to created a weighted average?
The names are not static and can be moved, meaning that John can be 1, 2, 3, or 4 (all depending on how the name is chosen). I want to find the average on where John ranks. In this instance, he would be 2 [(1+3+2)/3].
My question is - How can I create a formula that will look for where John appears in the column (B1) and call the previous cell (A1)? This formula needs to be repeated on each column, added and averaged.
I have a first column, which contains random integers typically with gaps of between 10 to 50 blank cells. The data may have up to 5,000 rows in total.
In the next column along I would like a calculation which averages the integer in the first column out across all rows until another integer is reached in the first column.
E.g. In the first column, the first number is 60, then 9 blank cells till the next entry. In the second column the first 10 cells each contain the number 6 ( = 60/10).
I have a large sheet of daily river flows and precipitation amounts, over 40+ years.
I want to calculate the average flows in each month of each year (ie 11/1968, 12/1968, 1/1969 etc). Dates are in Col A, flows in Col D.
How to average a particular month over all years like so:
{=AVERAGE(IF(MONTH(A2:A15282)=1,D2:D15282))}
But I don't know how to average per month of each year, or how to make a formula that will allow me to quickly calculate the averages of 100s of months.
I am trying to calculate final grades with weighted averages. However for the final grade I need to drop the lowest of the test grade which come after the bold line to the right, making the total relative weight of Tests, the weight of 2 tests. How would I go about calculating that with a SumProduct formula? I do not need to drop grades from B4:K4, however from L4:N4 I need to drop the lowest grade for my final grade, which needs to be rounded to the nearest integer. The relative weight of each assignment is given in Row 1.
I am trying to design a function that grabs an average of only numbers that are within a certain deviation of the mean. I got the plan down, and have done this before without VBA, its just a user defined function will be much quicker.
The gist of what I am doing: Find the standard deviation of a range and then only find the average of numbers that fall within n deviations from the mean. I am stuck with the part that I would normally use an array code for. Here is what my array would look like:
Need to create year to date sales comparing 4 years month by month. Stacked chart (Excel 2010) works OK for the first three months but adding the fourth month changes the chart to 4 series with a monthly axis. To put it another way I need a vertical axis of years and a horizontal axis of $$$ with each months sales of each year stacked on its year.
In the attached spreadsheet, I want to do a running average of the "To" column (column G) for each company throughout the 8 year period. The only problem is I want to do it with replacement based on column D, meaning if the same brokerage firm comes out with a new announcement, it will replace the value of the old one in the running average calculation.
Here is an illustration of what I mean:
Looking at Company A between row 2 and 12, the value for Consensus in row 2 should be the average of Column G in row 2, row 3 is the average of Column G in row 3...row 11 is the average of Column G in row 2 to row 11, but row 12 will be the average of Column G in row 2 to 12 be excluding column 5's value because both column 5 and 12 are issued by the same brokerage.
I want excel to replace new recommendations by brokerages over the old ones in the running average calculation.
building a spreadsheet to track instructors' classes' test scores. I have 3 basic variables: 1.) The instructor's name 2.) The course taught, and 3.) The classes' scores for that particular course. The 3 courses each have 3 different variations of the end-of-course test (9- total tests.) On the last page of the excel spreadsheet, I have a block for each of the instructors. I've been trying (with no success) to keep a running average of each instructor's class test average for the 3 courses. The part that is stumping me is associating the instructor's name with their class average, and then averaging all of their grades on that page together; the main reason being that this document is living, and new grades are entered almost daily. I tried using variations of the count function with no luck, other than to tell me how many times a particular instructor has tested in a particular test. Please help, I have the feeling that the function I am looking for is way-above my skill-level in Excel.
I wonder if it is possible to formulate a formula in which average values are recalculated after every added record.
For example: Record 1 shows an amount of 200 so the average value after 1 record is (200/1) 200. Record 2 shows an amount of 250 so the average value after 2 records is ((200+250)/2) 225. Record 3 shows an amount of 210 so the average value after 3 records is ((200+250+210)/3) 220.
I don't want to calculate all averages manually and most probably there must be a formula that is able to recalculate the average value after another record is added to the file.
I would like to keep an average for 12 months. Each number entered for a month would be averaged with the total months with an entry until all 12 months had entries. I am using excel 2007
I am creating an employee database. Any simple method for recording then calculating a total of occurrences when someone is tardy. I thought of using an OptionButton but I don't know how it could be applied and stored in my database. This is the code for the form as it exists now:
I have sales numbers which is in the form of a running total dollar amount and I would like to keep track of the average increase in dollars.
So basiclly if the Jan total is $100 in column a, the Feb total is $150 in column b, and the March total is $200 in column c. I would like a formula that will tell me that the average increase in dollars is $50.
I have a set of data with values and dates (call the dates 'raw dates'). I have added 3 columns with formulae in them as follows:
Year =YEAR('raw date') Month =TEXT('raw date',"mmm") Day ='raw date', formatted as "d".
I have a pivot chart with three Axis Fields. In order they are: Year, Month and Day. This is so that the chart itself has three layers of x-axis names (year, month and day) rather than a whole load of dates which looks messy.
I would like to show the values as a running total "in" the raw dates of the data.
When I show the values as "Running Total in" 'raw dates', I get a load of #NAs in the pivot table because the raw dates are not in the Axis Fields. If I select Running totals "in" the Days (which is included in the pivot table setup), I get running totals over each month, starting at zero on the first date in each month. I need to have the running total run over the course of the whole data set, not mini running totals in each month.
When I choose only the 'raw dates' in the axis fields (i.e. taking out Year, Month and Day), running total works fine. The only thing is that I lose the nice looking x-axis. Adding the raw dates to the other 3 Axis Fields also doesn't work - it doesn't even try to give a running total at all, just the original values.
how to achieve a running total without sacrificing the x-axis?
Basically, I'm trying to have a cell (eg.A1) where i can input a dollar value and when enter is pressed, on another cell (eg.A2) the dollar value gets added, then the original cell (A1) is cleared for the next input.
Then when I put the next input (A1) I want it to add on to this running dollar total (A2) and yet again A1 is cleared for the next input.
In addition to this I require an additional cell (eg.A3) that when each time a value is added in A1 it counts the times this is done.
