I have this code tat I am using to important a picture via a comment box:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Address = "$AI$10" Then
newpic = "J:help" & Range("AQ21").Value
Target.Comment.Shape.Fill.UserPicture newpic
End If
End Sub
The problem is if you put a value in AI10 that is not AQ21 it gives and error. I would like for it to call another cell (B3) for newpic in the case of a value that is not present in AI10.
I want to have a sample file in excel which store picture of student in comment, I did this, but when I want to insert picture the file dialog appears, and if I click cancel, then there is an error, why? If some one optimise the code it would be very nice
I am putting together a price list in excel and using images and hyperlinks to jazz it up a bit - what I am finding is that if I insert a 25KB GIF image, the excel file grows in size by over 100KB
why is this disproportionate growth happening and is there a way around it - I dont want my Price List growing too large but need the images....?
i need to have a way to link a small picture/thumbnail to a cell. so that there is a way to preveiw it. Ideally like what happens with the comments where you hover over the cell and the comment would pop up. or failing that may be a cell linking to the image.

I'm trying to do something with pictures that have been inserted into cell comments. I'd like to be able to copy a picture that had been inserted into a cell comment, and save as .jpg with file name and file location designated by other cells in the spreadsheet. For example A1 contains "monkey" and has a picture of a monkey inserted into a comment on the same cell. B1 contains "zoo". I'd like to copy the picture from A1's comment and save as monkey.jpg to location c:zoo. Is this kind of thing possible in VBA?
It mentioned something about getting comments which display dynamic data as if something metioned in the cells will appear in the comment and on changing the data in the cells, the data in the comments also changes with it..
Unfortunately, I could not save that file or remember the website as my Internet went bonkers...
Is there a way to insert a pdf into a cell comment? I found how to insert an object but when I do that it covers the entire spreadsheet. I would like to be able to add pdf's to cell comments.
I open Excel. I click Insert-> Comment. Excel crashes. I try to open an excel file with comments, Excel crashes. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled, Detected & Repaired. Nothing appears in the event viewer. I am at my wits end.
Any ideas on what this could be? My only guess is a windows issue vs. an excel issue, but I thought I'd at least ask.
I want to select any cell on a spreadsheet, then run a macro that inserts a comment to the selected cell with the inserted comment text being the selected cell entry (value/text/ date). Primarily to insert a cell date value to comment before overwriting it with a tick to represent completion. The comment then contains the date for archive info purpose.
-I have two sets of data in two different sheets. The data is similar, but it is taken in two ferent times, so there are some cells, which content has changed.
-I want to make a macro that identifies the changes in the latter (newer) sheet compared two the older one and to:
a) Highlight the cells (this works)
b) Add a comment to each cell that has changed so that the content of the comment is the content of the "older" cell. (so that one can easily see from the newer sheet that highlighted cells have new values and the old values are in the comment) (this is not working)
Here's my code so far. Like I said I can't make the comment work. I tried it with the same text in all comments ("test comment") and it worked but I can't make it to go and get the data from my older sheet.
OLDER = my sheet with old data NEWER = my sheet with updated data NEWTABLE = my table on the NEWER sheet where I want to check the changes
is it possible to allow a user to insert an image into a comment box through a user form. For example-
User enters Part # into form - then in a separate form field - uploads an image from his/her hard drive. On submit the part number is populated into A1(or wherever) and comment box is also generated for A1 which contains said image.
I want a script that inserts a picture based upon criteria of another cell. So for instance if cell A1 = Mad then insert Mad.jpg else insert Happy.Jpg
I can get the picture inserted properly based upon the cell however the picture does not delete when I click the sub button again. I cannot make it delete Mad.jpg from it's location and replace it with Happy.jpg if the criteria in A1 says "Happy".
VB: Sub Picture() Dim myPict As Picture Dim myPicts As Integer
I have two images that have a name on each sheet for reference. One is a thumbs up image, one is a thumbs down. They are both named tu_image and td_image respectively. I want to show the thumbs up image if a particular cell has a value of 10 and show the thumbs down image if that cell's value is < 10.
This check and display needs to be done about 20 times on different sheets and with different values. (i.e. Thumbs down should only show when the value is < 20, instead of 10.) Ideally this should take place when the workbook updates with new data. Is this possible?
I am looking for a way to insert a picture into a cell BUT the picture should not float. It should change its size whenever the cells size changes - as if it was inserted into a rectangle drawn from the "PAINT" Bar. An example (but it floats) can be seen in the attached picture/
I got code that is installing a picture over a range on my sheet.
Now, I would like to add an hyperlink to the picture so if I click on it, I will be opening my Snap Picture application
Problem is every time I create or install a new picture, the name of it change so I can't install an hyperlink over a picture that I don't know the name...
Code: Sub test2() Dim MyDocument As Variant Dim MyShape As Variant Dim SelectImage As String
I am trying to create a spreadsheet that will have a lot if invoice totals (over 3000) can I scan these invoices and make them so they link to the cell the are refered to in the spreadsheet similar to a comment box?
how to copy the contents of multiple comment boxes and paste in a single comment box.
The big picture is that I have a number of cells with numerical values in and text in comment boxes. I want to be able to click a button to copy the contents of the comment boxes and paste them, along with the numerical value from the cell, into a single comment box, ordered by highest to lowest value within the comment box, then delete the original cells and comments.
I am quite new to VBA but have been coping quite well so far with information of the web and analysing recorded macros.
In Excel 2010, is there any way to paste a picture into a small picture/diagram box, and upon double clicking the picture it would explode to a larger size? And I guess double clicking it again would make it return to its original (smaller) size. I would be pasting several pictures into several different picture/diagram boxes and would need this to be a relative reference so that upon selection it explodes the appropriate picture?
I have done the above where when I select a picture name from a drop down list it displays the relevant picture in another cell by using the IF function in the named formula
My question is why cant I use VLOOKUP instead of IF in the named formula. When I use it it comes with an error.
i have saved some pictures in my excel sheet. in the next sheet i want that when i write the picture name the picture will appear as vlookup helps in the getting text and nos. can i do this with pictures or i tried to get to much from excel.
I am trying to to get it to work so that if there is a comment already in the cell then it would skip to the next macro. Here is what I am trying:
'Mgr Voids If Range("F9").Comment.Text = True Then End ElseIf Range("F9").Value > 50 Then MyInput = Application.InputBox("You Must Give A Reason For The Amount Of Mgr Voids For " & Range("F6")) ElseIf MyInput = "" Then End ElseIf MyInput = False Then End ActiveSheet. Unprotect ("13792468") ActiveSheet.Range("F9").AddComment Range("F9").Comment.Visible = False Range("F9").Comment.Text Text:="" & Chr(10) & (MyInput) & Chr(10) & "" ActiveSheet.Protect ("13792468") End If
The first part (If Range("F9").Comment.Text = True Then End) obviously doesn't work because I have no clue how it supposed to be... I was just hoping to get lucky. Any help would be appreciated.
I am building a tool that uses Pivot Tables (so I can't use track changes) and I have found cool code that will insert timestamp and username in the comment when a change occurs. But I need to modify the code to also take the old value and put it into the comment as well. Here is the code to register the change into the comment:
Is it possible to trigger a forced comment if a particular value is entered in a cell?
For instance, if the letter "F" is entered into a cell, I want the comment box is pop up, is this possible?
And lastly... is it possible to automatically group comments? for instance if a row has 6 comments, I'd like to combine all of them into a comment box on the same row.
