Position Chart In Range

Jul 23, 2014

I have created a button in an excel worksheet that when clicked, creates new tabs each containing a chart. I have tried to modify the code to position the chart within a specific range of cells on each tab, however, I have not been able to get it to work. Below is my code. Please see the code following 'Add the Chart.

VB:
Sub AddCharts()
Dim lastr As Long, r As Long
Dim shname As String
Dim ltitles As Range, rng As Range, rData As Range, x As Range, tbl As Range, r2Data As Range

On Error Goto ErrorCatch:

Set ltitles = Sheet1.Range("A3:N3")
Set rng = Sheet1.Range("A4:A" & Sheet1.Range("A3").End(xlDown).Row)

[Code] ......

ErrorCatch:
'Debug.Print Err.Number
'Debug.Print Error
If Err.Number = 1004 Then
shname = x.Value & x.Row + 1
End If
If Err.Number = 20 Then Exit Sub
Resume
End Sub

Fix Chart In Particular Position

Nov 16, 2011

I have a user who has created a spreadsheet and wants to fix the charts in a particular position.

When she places them in one position and saves the spreadsheet they appear to have moved the next time she opens the spreadsheet.

Is there any way to fix them in a certain position without having to protect the worksheet?

Change Chart Position

Nov 6, 2006

I have a chart that needs to be positioned at the bottom of a table of data. (The table of data is created by some VBA which extracts data from another sheet based on user input). The chart is a pivot chart built on a pivot table from another worksheet. I've read the suggestion that the chart should be positioned above the table of data which I would do, however as there is already a series of tables and charts above, it would be too confusing for the user to see the chart out of sequence.

As I already have a fair bit of VBA to generate my existing sheet, I’d like to have something very simple that I can insert in various places depending when the user makes a change, which requires the chart to be repositioned. Something like:

Change chart position To Range ("B65536").End(xlUp).Row

2) Goes to the next empty row and fill some specific fields
3) Then he should fill up 15 parameters on the right as Y or N
4) In case all of them are correct instead of going one by one typing "Y" I want he clicks in a button (with VBA code associated) and then 15 cells on the right should be filled with "Y" value

Select Cell Range Relative To Starting Position

Mar 5, 2007

I need to change multiple conditional formats which apply to cell ranges 1 row x 17 columns wide. The specific change I am making is able to be acrried out with the code

With Selection.FormatConditions(1).Font
.ColorIndex = xlAutomatic
End With

However, I dont want the user to have to manually select each 17 cell area. I WANT THE USER TO JUST MANUALLY SELECT THE FIRST OF THE 17 CELL AREA. I want to write a macro that will THEN select a row of cells, 17 cells long, from the MANUALLY SELECTED position as at the moment of running the macro. Unfortunately the cells are not always on the same row in each sheet. On one sheet they may be on row 5, on another row 8 and on another, row 15 etc. I was wanting to be able to select a 17 cell range 'relative' to where the cursor is. How do I write the code to select the relative cell range? Is there an answer in an R[1]C[1]:R[1]C[17] sort of code?

Reference Named Range By Position Macro Code

Mar 11, 2008

This seems really basic, but I can't seem to find it...

Using Visual Basic, if I have a named range, lets say like "NAMEDRANGE", how can I refer to cells in that range by their position in the range? For example, if I want to refer to the cell in the 2nd row and 3rd column of the range.

Also is their an easy way to refer to the first(top-left) cell in a named range?

Chart Range

Mar 24, 2009

I have daily information that I am tracking for the year. From this information I am making 12 monthly charts. When I started the file I was able to format the X axis and choose the minimum and the maximum value it would graph (1st day of month/last day of month). The graphs also show the trendline.

For some reason the February chart is set to March. When I click on the X axis and go to format axis option, I no longer have the option to set the minimum and maximum values. The first thing is lets me adjust is the interval between tick marks.

The vertical axis still lets me choose the min and max values.

Chart Range Variable?

Feb 22, 2010

I am fairly new to using vba in excel, but not vba entirely so I know there is a way to accomplish what I need. I need to specify the range for a chart using variables

1. The row variable will be a selection on a combo box
2. The column variables will be mulitple selections on a list box
3. These cells will not be concurrent, for example:
I6, K6, O6

This is all in a vba macro button

Variable Range For Chart Using VBA

Feb 27, 2012

I recorded a simple macro to create a chart using VBA. The code for the macro is:

Code:
Sub Add_Chart1()
'
' Add_Chart1 Macro
'
ActiveSheet.Shapes.AddChart.Select
ActiveChart.ChartType = xlLine

[code]....

The problem is that I need the code to select a variable range from C4 to the last used row in column C for the x values and from G4 to the last used value in column G.

I tried to modify the code to do that by doing the following:

Code:
Sub Add_Chart1()
'
' Add_Chart1 Macro
'
ActiveSheet.Shapes.AddChart.Select
ActiveChart.ChartType = xlLine

[code]....

When I run the macro, I get an error 91, "Object variable or With block variable not set"; Also the chart is created but not correctly.

I created a sub called "range" (see below) and it correctly selects selects the C or G ranges, however, the argument does work in the chart macro.

Code:
Sub Range()
Sheets("Sheet1").Range("C4:C" & Sheets("Sheet1").Range("C" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row).Select
Sheets("Sheet1").Range("G4:G" & Sheets("Sheet1").Range("G" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row).Select
End Sub

Chart Range Changing Automatically

Jul 14, 2014

I have a workbook, with 2 sheets. first page has graphs, second has data. in my charts I refer to a named range on the second one as follows: Data!Named_Range, where "Data" is the name of the second sheet. However when i save this, it changes the range of the chart to: '101044.xlsm'!Named_Range, where 101044 is the name of the workbook. This is a problem for me as this workbook will often be loaded into a document handling system where the file will change name, throwing out all sorts of errors because the chart path is invalid, and i have to change the range of all the charts manually. why does it have to use the file name when reffering inside the same workbook? and how do i force this to not change?

Setting Date Range For Chart?

Feb 3, 2014

I have a general list from which a chart is created. Column one contains a date series. There are a fixed number of dates in this series (approx 50 or so).

I would like to select a start date and an end date from this list and have the chart display the data from that range.

Typically I would simply create a new list and build the chart from the list, but I'm kind of hoping that I could do it from a single source rather than make mulitple lists.

Chart Will Not Accept Named Range

I am trying to set up a chart, such that its charted ranges can be change by changing some cell values.

I am having a hard time getting past first base, however.

I have created a named range:

Code:
Name: LowerTrend
Refers To: = Offset(Values!$AV$200,0,0,800,1)

When I try to edit the chart series by placing 'LowerTrend' into Series values it will select the range by showing the dashed line around it, but it will not chart the data and when I exit the 'Edit Series' dialogue and then come back, the named range is not shown.

Chart - Allows To Switch Data Range

Mar 16, 2014

I have data in columns A to Z. Column A has the name of Bonds and columns B to Z have different returns for those funds. I would like to create a scatter plot chart that allows me to switch which column to pull the data from in addition to column A which will always have the name of the Bonds.

For example in addition to the name in column A I would like the chart to plot data from Columns C and F on the x and y axis respectively.

I'm thinking of copying column A to a new tab and then having a drop down box in columns B and C to copy over values from the 2 columns I select. How can I get a drop-down box to copy over values from another column?

Filterable Dynamic Chart Range

Sep 3, 2008

Imagine I am plotting characteristics of a monopoly game: each row of my data represents one property and has a number of characteristics in columns. I have a scatter plot that draws several series from data in a filtered list. This lets me turn some of the points on and off by changing the filters, because the chart only plots the points that are visible. I'm remaking this chart using named ranges so that it will update each series automatically as the named ranges change. I'm doing this because I occasionally want to move datapoints (i.e. rows in the original data) from one series to another, and I don't want to manually go back and edit the series definitions in the chart. For example, if I am charting a monopoly game and each series represents one player, and each point is a property owned by that player, I want to account for the fact that properties may be traded between players.

I got the chart all set up using named ranges so that each series has one named range for the X values and one for the Y values. These are defined to include or exclude points from the list (think of it as the list of all the properties in monopoly) and it works great... except when I use filters on the source data (for instance, filter out the yellow properties) it no longer removes those points from the chart. Because the chart refers to the named range and the named range is immune to the filtering, changes in filtering do not update the chart. My chart named ranges are defined like this:

John_Properties_Cost = (All_Properties_Owner=$B$115)*Cost_Of_Property
John_Properties_Rent = (All_Properties_Owner=$B$115)*Rent_For_Property

I thought a good solution would be to "break up" the named range so that part of the calculation happens in the chart, like this:
instead of

named ranges defined as:
John_Properties_Cost = (All_Properties_Owner=$B$115)*Cost_Of_Property
John_Properties_Rent = (All_Properties_Owner=$B$115)*Rent_For_Property.........................
