Select Highest Value At Start Of Week
Feb 5, 2008
I need to select the highest value at the start of the week as this will represent my starting Inventory level. The start of the week could be any date between the beginning and end of the week. For example, If I only have one data point for the Inventory and it is on a Thursday, then that is the one I want. I went ahead and did the formula to create the week number against the dates
Input Data:
Date Week Inventory
1/1/08 1 780
1/1/08 1 760
1/1/08 1 800
1/2/08 1 500
1/3/08 1 790
1/10/08 2 500
1/10/08 2 650
1/11/08 2 400
1/15/08 3 295
1/17/08 3 275
Output Data (what I need):
Week Inventory at Start of Week
1 800
2 650
3 295

I have two columns.
A column = contains dates but does not always have 5 days in a week. Holidays are not entered.
B column = price data for each day
All I want to do is get the highest price from the previous week. So for example last week highest price was 5000 then column C will display 5000 for this entire week. I tried using WEEKNUM and WEEKDAY but i am clueless on what to do after that. I'm trying to avoid macros or VB since im not that advance with that. But if I have to I will.

Work shifts run on a four-week, 28-day cycle always beginning on a Monday.
In 2009, the first such cycle began on Monday 12/1/09.
In my 2003 worksheet, I have the current year in A1. I want the date of the beginning of the first cycle in that year to appear in B1. This should update automatically when the year in A1 is updated.

My finacial year starts on the 1st of October of each year and ends 30th of September each year.
My week is from Monday to Saturday - though for calculation ease: lets say that my week is from Monday to Sunday.
I need to calculate the week numbers of a date based on the above two criteria.
I understand that I need to ascertain the day of the start date first i.e: did 01/10/07 fall on Monday, Tuesday etc. - In fact it was Monday!
so for my year 07/08:Week 1 was 01/10/07 to 07/10/07Week 2 was 08/10/07 to 14/10/07ETCSo in the attached worksheet - what formula can I use to populate column D - by using the data in column E?
I.e. All I want to do, is input date into E and B, C, D will be calculated automatically. It would be great of excel could populate A - aswell ;-)

I am trying to code a macro call where in once the file is saved with the current week start date all the other macro's should be disabled. Since am having lot of data and report sheets which needs to be added and deleted in the run. It causes me problem when I try to open it again to view the results. For example I have a sheet named apple and another one applereport. I have made my code to delete apple since it is a data sheet. I want apple report to have all the other macros disabled once its been renamed to week start date for now it is 16 Mon 2007.

I am trying to work out how to select a range from a formula.
One formula works out when a specific number in a list of rows is reached, and returns the number of values it counted before it reached the number.
MATCH(TRUE,INDEX($A$2:$A$50>=B1,0),0)
With the figure returned from that can I then select the range from the first row, to the number of rows counted. And with that selection find the highest number within that range, specifying the highest number as the result?

i need VB to select the start date of booking and autohighlights the "blank booking slot cells" until the end date that is input in Excel. You can visualise this as a room booking system. The left most column is the dates and the first row represents the different rooms type. E.g. if one guest books the Twin Deluxe No. 123 room on 23 Oct 2006 until 25 Oct 2006. We wish the VB can essentially help us identify the start date then begins highlighting the three slots for 23, 24 and 25 Oct on the column for the Twin Deluxe Room 123.

I am new to VBA & not sure of the full understanding of code copied from a workbook which worked on the same principle but with Monthly (12) tabs. I thought if modified to show weeks, the macro would be able to locate the current week tab & day/date within - but upon opening, the cell stops at WK19 & column O - rather than WK43, Column N (which changes daily).
Sub Auto_Open()
week(1) = "WK1"
week(2) = "WK2"
week(3) = "WK3"
week(4) = "WK4"
week(5) = "WK5"
week(6) = "WK6"
week(7) = "WK7"
week(8) = "WK8"
week(9) = "WK9"
week(10) = "WK10"
week(11) = "WK11"
week(12) = "WK12"
week(13) = "WK13"
week(14) = "WK14"
week(15) = "WK15"
week(16) = "WK16"
week(17) = "WK17"
week(18) = "WK18"
week(19) = "WK19"
week(20) = "WK20"
week(21) = "WK21"
week(22) = "WK22"
week(23) = "WK23"
week(24) = "WK24"......................................

I was wondering if there's a way to add a formula to calculate week over week % change automatically every week when I enter in new data. see the attached excel file for reference.
What I would like to have is the ability for the formulas in c5 and f5 to be able to auto-update to the newest week and the previous week's data instead of manually having to update it each week. So if I were to add a new row with data for week beginning 12/2, the formula in c5 and f5 would automatically update to calculate the week over week variance. I tried researching prior to asking the question on this forum, and I think it may be possible to do it using the index match function, but I'm not sure how to apply it in this case.

I'm attempting to put together a script which in simple terms finds the 'Highest and Second' highest activity and associated FTE for a given sub group.
To be more specific:
On the "Slide 1" sheet look at the values in column J starting at row 7 until blank;For each value, then search the "All Monthly Direct Activities" sheet in column C for the same value, excluding the 'Subtotal' rows;Where a match is found, compare all the values in column E for that sub group;And Find the highest and second highest figure;
Once these are found copy this figure and associated value in column B and paste onto the "slide 1" sheet.
I'm not particularly well versed in writing VB, but I've been working with the code to see if I can get this work, which I have been unable to do.
I have attached a file which may perhaps provide a greater detail than my description of the problem containing the 'Source' and 'Destination' sheets.

I have a running time sheet daily. It has 2 columns for Labor and 2 columns for travel
i.e. travel From / To 1300-1400 calculate 1 hour then travel home 1600-1700 1 hour this is calculated by the date entry 01/02/10 I have another calculation that tracks by the date i.e. 01/02/10 then Next job which all works fine.
The problem becomes how do I calculate a weekly total labor and travel by the date So added another column called weekly hour’s labor and use the Weeknum to determine which week is which day/date so the first Monday in January 2010 is week 2
2 problems
Having many multiple day / date entries are the same date x 7 days Monday –Sunday
(Relies on the date entered and the weeknum) 01/03/10 each line is complete however the dates carry over as does the time
When trying to calculate each row x 3 same date time then the value will be incorrect I need to calculate
Say 9.5 hour labor from the date 01/03/10 not 28.5 hours and then calculate the total weekly hours
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
i do have work and travel times for each job on the same line (separate columns) but I display the total here by date to summarize the totals
i have tried sum products and sumif to avail. I am using Windows XP SP2 with MS Office 2007
how do i calculate weekly hours by date and weeknum ?
Total Work per day
Total Travel per day
Daily....................

I have a command button on sheet MASTER. When the workbook is Activated I want it to check and see if in sheet COSTM, cell B3 there are the words "Project Number", if so then show command button (ClearPrevious), if not, don't show. Also, when the If statement is finished, then the workbook needs to end up showing the sheet MASTER. I have tried various codes and none work, or they are on perpetual loops. I know this has got to be simple, but cannot find an example to take from to solve the issue. Would appreciate any help offered. Below is code I have right now.
Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()
If Sheets("COSTM").Select Range("B3").Select = "Project Name:" Then
Me.ClearPrevious.Visible = True
Else
Me.ClearPrevious.Visible = False
End If
Sheets("MASTER").Select
End Sub

I have a worksheet that contains a number of rows. [Thank you, Captain Obvious!] These rows are logically grouped to represent a series of "items", with each item having one or more rows (with a "header" row at the top). The rows for a particular item represent different types of information about that item, and therefore make use of different formulas based on the row type. Due to the relative complexity of the formulas in these rows, I am creating a series of row "templates" from which I can copy and paste every time I want to create a new item or add rows to an item. As such, I am trying to avoid direct cell references to different rows, as these would easily get messed up during cut and paste. Instead, I am trying to limit myself to various lookup functions (e.g. OFFSET, MATCH, etc...) that will work regardless of where a row is added.
In order to accomplish this I am using a "key" column to group all rows for a particular item together. Until now I have had to type in the key value for every row for a particular item. What I would like to do is to only have to type the key value in the header row, and have a formula populate the key value in all subsequent rows ... until a new header row is reached, at which point the new key value will be used. Take a look at the following example: ....

I have an excel work book that has distances in column A from A2:A10 like so:
ABCD
15013401400
240
3900
4800
5600
61400
71200
81100
91150
101600
I would like to compare the value inputed into cell C2 against the distances and return the exact match or next highest distance to D2 if there is no exact match.
i.e. If 1340 is put in Cell C2 I would like excel to return 1400 to cell D2 as 1400 is next highest distance from 1340.
Here is the kicker, the distances cannot be sorted and I would prefer not to use VBA but I will if i have to.

I'm trying to list the latest revision of a drawing in an issue sheet spreadsheet. What I need is to be able to enter a formula that will find the highest alphanumerical value in the columns beyond. Alphabetic characters take precedence over numerical - i.e., drawing issue numbers usually follow a 00, 01, 02, 03, then switch to A, B, C, D,... order.
To try and illustrate what I mean a little better, I have the following table, with dates in DD/MM format. Sorry it's not laid out too well, my HTML isn't great:
Drawing title latest revision 01/01 02/01 03/01 04/01 05/01 06/01
example010001AB
example02000102
example0300
I want the cells in the "latest revision" column to report the highest value. So, I want it to say this:
Drawing title latest revision 01/01 02/01 03/01 04/01 05/01 06/01
example01B0001AB
example0202000102
example030000
I won't have control over the numbers and letters reached (i.e., the drawing revision could get up to Z or something - or the number revision reach 15 before switching to alphabetic revisions) so I'd rather avoid having to set up a crazy IF function with "00", "01", "02", "03", "04", etc etc. But -
