I have a scheduling spreadsheet that I designed for excel. It uses numbers as text and vlookup values instead of calculating actual time (its easier and saves space). I want it to look aesthetically pleasing:
630-230 (that is six-thirty until two-thirty)
7-315 (that is 7 o'clock until three-fifteen)
should look like this:
630- 230
7 - 315
How should the code be written so that if I write a string of text "xxx-xxx or x-xxx" the right parts get superscripted automatically.
notice that the first example has 3 digits before the hyphen and the second example has 1 digit before the hyphen. I need the vba code to work no matter which example is used.
When using format cells > number >custom I want to custom oC with the degree symbol in superscript. how to get superscript into the custom box? Also where is the superscript icon for the quick access toolbar in Excel?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an amount of text in my spreadsheet, which contains superscript numbers and I want to get rid of these numbers.
Is it possible to do this with a UDF or a macro?
I include a simple example spreadsheet with the situation as it is, and how I would have it.
I want to superscript the text with red color. But now only a active cell is change to superscript with red color after running the macro.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a cell (A1) that, depending on a choice made elsewhere in the workbook, will return A2, A3, A4, or A5, which are all formatted differently with superscripts. How do I get that formatting to copy over to A1 without having to manually copy and paste format from the appropriate cell? I have to do this for a range of cells (A1:A15) instead of simply one.

Is there a way to superscript or subscript only part of a cell's text? The forum below provides VBA to superscript an entire cell.
How about just part of a cell?
e.g. Say I type "The volume of the cylinder is 42 m3", the press the arrow key once (to have the cursor before 3, hold down shift, go forward to select 3. NOW, I want to run a macro or script to superscript the selected part of the text, in this case the 3.

How about using an inputbox to choose part of the cell?
Or using an inputbox to ask you to choose the cell,
THEN counts number of characters,
THEN asks you where to start and stop the supercript or subscript,
THEN asked if you want to superscript or subscript
THEN asks if you want to superscript/subscript (depending on what was choosen) "selectect text"(have excel store the text part selected for formatting),
THEN carries it out?
Is this possible? I don’t know enough VBA to know.
Here's some code to get people started..

I'm looking to set up a spreadsheet whereby individuals answer questions and have to format their answer using a particular font, colour, font size and so on. The idea is that I can then compare their answer sheet to a pre completed one using an =IF function and get a total score. The only problem is =if and =exact only lookup cell text/numbers and don't look at how the text is formatted within them.

I did a couple searches on "conditional formatting" but didn't find anything, and it seems like the only way would be through a macro, am i correct? I'd much rather be able to do this on a formula sheet if possible.
Somehow my tab names (in 2003) have a very small font size. How do I return the size to normal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have my Excel set up for a default font size of 12 point.
I often download CSV data to insert into spreadsheets. It opens in a new spreadsheet, and it's properly displayed in 12 point size. When i copy and paste it into the ultimate target spreadsheet (which is also set to 12 point size) the pasted data shows up as 10-point and I have to change the font size back to 12-point every time.
Why is this happening and how can I avoid that re-sizing that occurs?
I'm using conditional formatting for column k that turns the cells blue (RGB 0, 0, 255) if the condition is met. I want to be able to delete all other cells where the condition is not met using a macro.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am building up a formatted invoice, line by line all of which is working well from the data point of view but no quite so well from the presentation point.
My text is all in Arial 12pt and I have the row height set to "Auto" and cell alignment to wrap text (at least one cell per row often has 3-4 lines of text so I need "text wrap" on)
My issue is that the printed output from a multi row invoice looks "crowded" and as this is the view the client gets to see (and hopefully pay ) the look is important. I tried to set the row heights to say .71cm but that causes the text wrap to stop working correctly.
I think I am trying to get some form of "inside top" and "inside bottom" adjustment / fill / padding (which is what I would do if I was using some form of documentation tool like Madcap Flare for example) but I cannot see how to do it in excel.
This probably sounds really weird, but does anyone know whether the size of the text in Cell A1 on Sheet 1 can be linked to the size of the text in Cell B2 on Sheet 2? Like, when I change the size of Cell A1's text, is there a way to have the size of Cell B2's text change as well?

I'm a beginner to VBA and I have a dataset with different loan rates for different schools. So far I can highlight rows based on their rate and order them from least to greatest.
What I want is to be able to restore all of the font to default (i.e. undo the highlighting) without changing the format of a specific column of cells (My G column, with the loan rates, goes from Percentage format to General format)
I'm using Selection.ClearFormats, which changes the format of the cells to general as well as it only restores the format of the cells I highlight, rather than the entire worksheet
So basically, how can I delete all formatting of all cells without changing the cell format (Percentage vs General)?
Can I change font size & color for button form, normal practice for font is disabled when I select button
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet which has some cells with blue font. If anyone tries to manually change the contents of these cells a worksheet change macro reads the colour index of the font and, if it is 5 (blue), uses "application.undo" to repair the damage.
When I use the sheet on another computer, the same font colur is being read as a four digit number, 4015 I think from memory, and the code doesn't work.
where do I add the font.bold = true if I want to make this part of the array in bold only?
rProd.Offset(3, 0).Resize(, 6) = Array("HandOver By:", "", "", "", "", "Received By:")
.Font.Bold = True
I have a script that sets font color. I think it uses something called "myColor" to define the color, and then pulls the color from a palette of 57 colors.
But how can use the "color" property instead, so I can have a broader range of colors? I can't tell how it would fit into my code. "MyColor" doesn't even show up in Excel's help file.
Here is the code. How can I adjust it so that I can use, like, "RGB 0, 0, 255" instead of color 32?
Or how would you code it so you could set color that way?
Private Sub WorkSheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Target.Column < 8 Then Exit Sub
If Target.Column > 9 Then Exit Sub
Dim myColor As Variant

View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently have an Excel spreadsheet already created. I have added drop down lists using the Validation>Data feature and can get this to create the drop-down box, but the font is unreadable. If I create a new sheet and create the drop-down list it becomes readable. I can't figure out why the first is unreadable due to its small size. I eventually plan to add formulas to calculate how many yes's or no's in a column, but will address that later. I use Excel 2003.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am just looking for a keyboard shortcut macro. I change the font color in rows one at a time to either blue or red by selecting that row and using the format toolbar to select the color I want. Is there a macro shortcut for changing font color?
Even further, can the macro be able to change the font color of the entire row without highlighting the entire row? Meaning if I only have 1 cell selected within the row I want to color the font and apply the shortcut, can it color the font in the entire row???
I currently have the following macro which checks the cell contents and replaces a random number in a sheet (say Sheet1) with a name in another sheet (called 'Pool') making sure the names' font colour is the same. So for example in sheet1, cell A1 contains the number 1 - the macro looks at cell A1 in the 'Pool' sheet (in which cells A1 to A30 always contain the numbers 1 to 30) and replaces the number 1 in Sheet1 with the name in cell D1 including the same font colour. Basically, it is replacing numbers in one sheet with names on another.
