I am trying to bold specific text in a cell. I have found some language that will do this trick to a point. In addition to the word "Foxwood" I would like to bold 9 other specific words in 5 different sheets in this workbook. Is there a way to do this without the cumbersome task of repeating this language 5 times for the different sheets and 9 times for the additional words?
Dim startPos As Integer Dim totalLen As Integer Dim searchText As String searchText = "Foxwood" For Each cl In Sheets("Week1").Range("c3:c100")
However, whenever I run the code, if there's even on word that is bold in the cell, then the entire text string in the cell turns bold. How can I stop this from happening? i want to keep the format of the text string the same, only remove and replace the items listed in the code.
I want to have a function or macro that if cells have mingled bold text, that only the bold text shall remain in the cells, and all the rest of the text must be deleted.
I have a report that in column BX has a large string of text (html information). Within this text there is a phrase called "| Hear = Education Website |" The phrase Education Website can be a variety of things though (Up to 9 choices). What is a formula I could use to just pull out the text after "Hear =" but before |""?
I am merging columns. Col B has all text in bold. Col C has all text in regular font. When I use ASAP to merge, the merged column comes out all bold. When I use a formula to merge the merged column comes out all regular. What I want is for the merged column to contain the bold text from Col B in bold, and the regular text from Col C in regular.
What I want is...
This is for service plan B: Take all data and transer to new server.
What I am getting is...
This is for service plan B:Take all data and transer to new server.
OR
This is for service plan B:Take all data and transer to new server.
I want to do is search for "&s_kwcid" or anything containing "&s_kwcid" and replace it with blank. So above would then read:
fdfs sfsd &dfsdaf&dsafdsf fdsf&dasfsdf
I tried =IF(SUM(COUNTIF(E2,{"&s_kwcid*"}))=1,E2,"") but it didn't work. I tried auto filtering, and using contains &s_kwcid* but it didn't filter out results, but find &s_kwcid did find results for text anywhere in string, so I know the problem is there.
I am trying to write some code that will look in an excel cell find if it contains the word that I am looking for and make it bold. I have written the following code so far
VB: With Worksheets("Label Print").Cells(i, J) .Characters(Start:=InStr(.Value, "Name"), Length:=Len("Name")).Font.Bold = True End With [COLOR=#3E3E3E][B][/B][/COLOR]
The issue is that if "Name" occurs twice (or more) in a cell it will highlight only the first.
I need to pull a specific word from a string of text in a cell and have that word shown in an adjacant cell. For example A1 will contain the text "Smith Sun Alliance Pension Fund" I need B2 to show "Pension". I cannot use any filtering or text to columns as the word Pension can be anywhere within the text in A1 and I have thousands of entries. So I need a function.
I'm working on a Excel template where 6 cells are filled with text. Now I want to put all the text in those cells into one 'result cell'. I already know how to put the cell values into strings and paste them beneath each other.
My problem is that I don't only want to copy the cell values but also the formatting, because all of the separate cells have a bold title. If I only copy the values the formatting isn't copied with it, so my question is:
How do I copy the cell formatting (bold titles) with it or how can I make a string bold?? Beneath is my code:
I'm trying to figure out a macro that will add b and /b tags around bold text. Bolded text can appear multiple times within a cell. I need it to run on all cells within a sheet.
So I need it to: 1. Search for bold strings within cells 2. Identify the length of the bolded strings 3. Add b and /b at the beginning and end of those strings 4. Repeat for all active cells
The only macro I was able to work out adds tags to only the last bolded string, whereas I need the tags on several non-continuous strings.
I have a string of information in an Excel download from PayPal that I need to upload into QB; but, the information needs to be in a different format. The string from the download is:
Property Address - 1116 South PaxonBorrower " Testa and Son Contractors,LLCLoan # - 1402088Acct Executive " Brandon Tully
But, I need it to be:
1402040;TPAPR;141 North Clinton Street, East Orange, NJ 07017;Leslie P Carter
Is there a formula that I can use to extract specific information from the original string into columns so I can then concatenate the columns into the information I need to upload? Or is there a better way to do this? The Property Address and Borrower Name are not static sizes so I can't use a formula that counts spaces.
I am trying to write a macro to search a column for a specific text string which when found, will copy the whole row the string is in. Once this row has been copied, I then want the macro to activate a new sheet and search for the next available empty row to paste the data. Once this has been done, go back to the original sheet and find the next cell in the original column with the specified text string and repeat until the range has been satisfied. Below is the script I have that sort of works.
I'm racking my brains as to how I can structure a formula to conditionally rank a value in an array against only those values in the array whose corresponding criteria cell includes a specific letter.
So for example I have a list of 12 values, say 126; 239; 0; 171; 162; 157; 130; 199; 122; 153; 0; 15. Each of those values corresponds to a heading, say: CDE; DFE; FGE; DFE; ERD; DEA; BDF; DFB; CDE; CEF; CAB; FAB. As you will note some of the headings may or may not be the same and may or may not include the same letters in different orders.
How can I write a formula that ranks in ascending order a given value drawn from the above list (which will be in another cell but which in this case is, let's say, the first value: 126) only against those values whose heading includes a specific character, for example the character C (the character in question will vary and be defined in a specific cell).
As an added complication I need the ranking calculation to exclude any zero values. So in the above example what the formula needs to do is rank the value 126 against a sub-set of the whole array comprising only the values 126; 122; 153; 0.
The answer I need is 2 because, discounting the zero value, 126 is the second highest value.
I'm trying to have a macro run to search a specific column (S) for a particular text value "y" and if true it will change the font to bold and the color to red for the entire row of the cell that contains the "y". the column is part of a data table that is constantly refreshed not sure if that makes a difference or not.
I need to split each line as follows : Each title (in bold and on a new line) and the text who follows should be placed in a new row, copying the date in each new row created.
I'm trying to use the below vba code that was provided by another member. The code show work to bold any text that is found matching the text string provided.
Problem I'm having is that I get a 'Type mismatch' error when the code tries to run, as below:
Public Function Colorandbold() 'USE-COLOR AND BOLD TEXT STRINGS WITHIN TEXT EXCEL VBA 'BROUGHT TO YOU BY WWW.PROGRAMMINGLIBRARY.COM 'CREATED BY MARK SLOBODA
I have a sheet full of names, addresses and phone numbers in one cell like this
Albert Young 16 teststreer 12C..................7888-6338
The name Albert Young is bold. The thing is I would like to split the cell putting the names in another colomn. Then it would be ideal to split the addresses and phone numbers as well. But I have no idea how to split any of these. I scanned this from a phone book, the dots are different on each row.
i have a worksheet which has a price list for parts, about 2500 rows. in the Column C i have a retail price and in Column D have -5% of the C. i need to add Column E -10% of CERTAIN items, the ones in BOLD Only, of Column D. and change the color of that cell, is there a easy way to do this. i have attached screen shot what i mean.
I have a spreadsheet with a pivot table in it. Column "G" has all of the data in it I need to abbreviate, problem is, I only want the values in BOLD face, and there are 3-5 rows seperating each boldfaced item. I would have to manually copy-paste each bold value into a new, 'clean' column ( column "I", or in a new sheet/workbook, it doesn't matter), and lather-rinse-repeat for the next 700+ rows. It sucks. No, it really does. I stumbled upon this website which is seemingly the utopia for excel macro and programming problems, so is there anyone out there that might take the time to walk me through it...?
Every week I have a worksheet compiled with large range of data, being input after many meetings done. The action-owner Names in open/close brackets are among the long text input in one Column (there are not more than 50 rows of data).
My problem is that in the Column every time I have to manually Bold-face the owner names in the cells that have their names, pressing F2 and Bold. Examples: ...(Wilfred)... or ...(Jacky/Joseph)... Can someone please help me with a code, say I can list out a fixed list of selected text and such code will be able to have these selected text (which is names in this case) in the cells bold-faced.
I am creating a sheet with the cell information coming from different cells. I want to bold and/or underline a part of the cell to add clarity.
For e.g. Cell A1 = "Trans X" (Name of the transaction); Cell B1 = "System Y" (System where the transaction exists) Cell C1 = "Type Z" (Type of transaction)
I want to create a cell which has Newsheet.Cell (x,y) = "Name: Trans X System: System Y Type: Type Z"
I created the String by reading and concatenating the values, but I am not sure how to add the formatting to a part of the string.
I'm not too sure if this will be really easy difficult or really difficult but I want to write some code that compares the value of two strings, and any characters that arent in string 2 will be return formatted in bold. For example, if String1 was "The Quick Brown Fox" and String2 was "The Quick Yellow Fox jumped over the lazy dog", String2 would then be returned as "The Quick Yellow Fox jumped over the lazy dog".
