Internet Explorer Object AND Pop Up Window

Jun 2, 2009

I have a VBA project that navigates to a website and then clicks on a link. When I click the link in my code a new IE Browser opens with a form that I wan to fill out. I know how to update the form, but I don't know how to reference the new browser window that was opened when I clicked on the link.

'Open End User Multiple Selection
Set tags = myIE.document.getElementsByTagName("A")
For Each tag In tags
If InStr(1, tag, "'multiple_selections.htm','EndUser'", vbTextCompare) > 0 Then
tag.Click
Exit For
End If
Next
when I try to reference the document in the popup window, it is still referencing the previous window. How can I set my "myIE" object to reference the new pop up window?

Document Recovery Window

Jun 3, 2006

When I start Excel I get a Document Recovery Window that lists a file that was lost some time ago. I don't need the file and don't want the window appearing. If I click on the listed file, or right click and select "open", "save as", or "show repairs", the window disappears and I get a blank document.

I know I could write code that would automatically close the window when I start Excel, but there has to be a better way. I DO want the window to appear when there is really a file that needs to be recovered, but I don't want the listed file and don't want the window.

Creating A Pop-up Window With Specific Cell Data

Sep 13, 2007

I'm basically creating a file where a userform comes up when you open the workbook, blocks the access to the actual workspace so that no manual entry can be done. What the userform allows you to do is add a new entry to the database (the userform has some text boxes where we type in stuff like location and name or age) after having found the next empty row in the enormous database (3.000 lines)

After having clicked the OK button in the userform and added the data to the database, I would like the userform to have a pop-up message box with specified text like:

"The number assigned to this entry is:" and then I would like to add a variable with excel using the cell in column D of the same row of the new entry. So the end result would be :

The number assigned to this entry is: 01

Populate Excel Cells With Specific Text From Word Document

Jul 22, 2014

Let me start by stating that I am a novice at writing macro script. I am trying to write a script that will open and search a Word doc, find specific text in that document, and populate certain excel cells with that information.

Ex. of Word doc:

5.1.2.3 Install gasket [12], using bolt [5] and nut [8].

5.1.2.4 Uninstall gasket [12] and scrap gasket and fasteners.

I would like the script to search for and populate any number between the [ ] into a specific excel cell, also I would like it to identify and populate an excell cell with the associated step, e.g.: "5.1.2.3", which will be at the begining of that step (step could be several sentences long). Also, I would like the script to look for and identify/populate an excel cell with any number of words such as: "install", "uninstall", "break", "scrap", or "remove" also associated with that step.

Searching For Mistakes In Document While Using Another Document As Reference

Feb 2, 2014

I am processing a fair few Invoices, which are being sent to me via e-mail as excel documents, very often they contain mistakes, a decent amount of mistakes. Usually the prices are wrong.

I keep track of every single entry on the invoice on my own document - Tracker, which I consider to be the superior/more correct document to the Invoice presented to me by my contractor.

Both of the documents have a reference number, which is a specific docket number, and horizontally, in the invoice, there is going to be a price for this docket. In my document, there is going to be a separate column for the total price.

Is it possible (I guess with VBA) to check for mistakes in the Invoice, but use the Tracker as a reference for this check.

Tracker has
columns
A - Name
B - Department
C - Date
D - Docket No.
C - Total price for the docket (calculation of E to Z)
E to Z - all smaller entries

Invoice has
columns
A - Date
B - Docket No.
C to E price for that docket, but it is spread, because departments are separated out, so each VAT account can be charged accordingly. I guess it is possible to do a separate column for the price, if it is easier to do a script that way.

Basically, I need to check if in the Invoice document, the price (C to E) for Docket No. (B) is the same as the price (C) for the Docket No. (D) in the Tracker.

I would like the wrong entries to be highlighted on the Invoice Document, so I can see straight away, that this needs attention.

Not always the price is wrong, sometimes the Docket No. is spelled incorrectly (Dyslexic contractor), hence the highlighting.

Error "information Specific To The Error Type" Checking Options Button

Feb 9, 2007

I have a relatively simple, though large, spreadsheet. I get the following in many of my cells: The Error Checking Options button is displayed and the cell itself. is marked with a small green triangle in the upper-left corner. When I click the button, the error type is displayed, followed by the following list of error-checking options:

information specific to the error type

• Show Calculation Steps: demonstrates all steps leading to the error
• Ignore Error: allows you to accept the formula as entered, without Excel displaying the Error Checking Options smart tag
• Edit in Formula Bar: allows you to edit the formula that is generating the error in the Formula Bar
• Error Checking Options: opens the Options dialog box, where you can select the rules governing error checking
• Show Formula Auditing Toolbar: displays the Formula Auditing toolbar

When I check the formula it calculates correctly. What triggers this when there is no error, is there a way to prevent it from appearing in the worksheet?

Open Folder In Explorer

Jul 18, 2008

I was wondering if it is possible to use a macro open a folder in Windows Explorer. Previously someone on this forum taught me how to open an Excel file from a macro, but in this case there will be a new file every week. As the files will all be stored in the same folder, I thought it would be easier to open the folder in the normal Explorer view and select the file manually than to change the macro every week.

I am using Windows XP and Excel 2003. My programmes are run from the C drive, but my documents are stored on the E drive. What I am looking for really is a line that says: open in Explorer E:data
ewprocessed.

Multiple VBA Project Explorer

Jul 7, 2009

As of a few weeks ago the project explorer in VBA on my laptop has started retaining the information on all files/projects opened during the current Excel session so closing a file in Excel does not remove it from the VBA editor.

Furthermore if a file has been opened several times during an Excel session, it appears several times in the project explorer and editing the “dormant” versions does not impact the currently open copy of the file so the whole thing can get quite confusing and result in changes to not being saved.
