Permanent VBA Calendar In Worksheet

Jun 28, 2006

I have downloded several versions of the VBA calendar posted either here on or on "hey that's cool" forum (i.e Phil's calendar, Barry's calendar etc, ect), however I could not find the answer for making the calendar stay on the spreadsheet permanently without any triger to initilise the user form.

What I am trying to do is to have an embeded calendar in my worksheet where user can choose different dates and link this to a pivot table date field, so when the date changes pivot table output changes. I managed to do that with excel calendar control tool, however not everybody has the OCX file on their computer.

Linking Label Of Worksheet To Cell?

Apr 29, 2013

I have a workbook with 6 tabs/worksheets. Each of the first four is a different product or quarter. Tab 5 is a consolidated data report that links data from individual tabs 1-4 in rows and columns for comparison purposes. Consider Tabs/Worksheets 1-4 to be quarters (ie. 1Q, 2Q, 3Q, 4Q). What I want is for the Column Headers in Tab 5 (the consolidated data report) to be pulled from the NAME of the Tab/Worksheet it is pulling the data from. Not an individual cell, but the name of the worksheet itself so that others can change their worksheet labels and those changes are reflected in the consolidated report.

Linking Data When One Variable Changes In Src Worksheet

Feb 13, 2007

I'm using MS Excel 2003 Pro. I need to link data from one source worksheet to a target worksheet in the same workbook when only one variable changes in the source worksheet e.g.:

A. From source worksheet:

When the data under the "Expected Date" column is set (it normally is blank)

B. Populate target worksheet with:

1. Name
2.aaaa
3.bbbb
4.cccc
5.dddd
6. expected date (the actual date that is set from the source worksheet)

Linking To A Worksheet That Hasnt Been Created

Feb 15, 2009

I'm not sure if this is possible. But here it goes. Here is how my spreadsheet stands. I have a sheet called "Dates." When I input a date into a cell it creates a copy of a template and titles it with the date (eg 2009.02.15). What I then need is for some of the cells of this newly created sheet to be linked to cells in other sheets in the workbook. These other sheets serve as databases so to speak and will collect, tabulate and analyze the data from the various sheets created for each day in the Date column. I hope that is clear.

I thought that by creating this Dates sheet I would be able to link the cells in the database sheets to the new sheets that will be created. When I tried this, however, it did not work. The sheets I want to link will have the name of the text that will be entered into the Dates cells. For example. If I put 2009.02.15 in A2 I will want the corresponding cell in my database sheet to have the formula =2009.02.15!C12. Is it possible to make this link before there is text entered in A2 and before the new sheets even are created. I have not been able to do so yet.

I was tryin to think of another way and I came up with this. Here is the code I use to create the new sheets.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim wsNew As Worksheet
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
On Error Resume Next
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A1:A10")) Is Nothing Then
Sheets("experiment template").Select
Sheets("experiment template").Copy After:=Sheets(Sheets.Count)
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("experiment template (2)").Tab.ColorIndex = 5
Sheets("experiment template (2)").Select
Sheets("experiment template (2)").Name = Target.Text
End If
End Sub

I was thinking it would be easy for this code to link the cells from the new sheet to the existing database. However, I then ran into a problem down the road. For each new sheet created (each new date entered) I want it to enter the values into the subsequent row in the database. Not keep on overwriting the same row. It seems as though there should be code for this but I am not sure how to do it.

How To Copy A Worksheet, WITHOUT Linking It To The Original Workbook?

Sep 27, 2008

A simple one for you, but again my Google skills seem lacking. This must be common practice but until one knows the key combination...

I have created a summary sheet with lots of formulas which analyse other sheets in a workbook. I want to copy this summary sheet to a seperate workbook to use as a template.

Of course, the copying process always links the new (template) sheet to the original workbook it was copied from. How does one copy without forging this link? All I want are the formulas copied across totally unchanged; I really *don't* want to manually edit 50 or so formulas!

Calendar Control On Excel Worksheet - Default Start Date

Jul 9, 2012

I have set up a calendar control on a userform and got it to pop up when selecting one of 3 cells on a worksheet. The various bits of code making this work are below.

This code is attached to the Userform.

VB:
Private Sub Calendar1_Click()
With ActiveCell
.Value = Calendar1.Value

[Code]....

What I am struggling with is that I'd like to have the calendar that pops up in cell C18 (which is Date of Birth) default to starting on 1st January 1987 not todays date. Also, if there is a value in either of the 3 cells that use the calendar, then I'd like the calendar to display that date. If the cell is empty then todays date is fine for cells G3 and G26.

Calendar Control 11: Selected On The Calendar Is Greater Than 12 The Date Is Entered Correctly Onto The Sheet

Jan 8, 2010

I have a program where I can update the calibration due date of an item. I have attached a cut down version of my program showing the relevant areas. There is usually password protection on the worksheet so it can only be edited via the form (the vba coding removes the password protection before editing, then re-enables the password protection after editing). The "Update Calibration" button is usually on a "Menu" sheet.

Once the form is opened a serial number is typed in the textbox. The calendar button is then clicked, which brings up another form with the calendar on. The due date is selected on the calendar. When "OK" is clicked, the date label caption is then changed to the selected calendar date. When "Submit" is clicked, the spreadsheet will search for the Serial Number, once found, the label caption (being the date selected) will be entered into the cell to the right of the serial.

If the day selected on the calendar is greater than 12 the date is entered correctly onto the sheet. example: calendar date selected = 15/01/2010. shown on sheet as 15/01/2010. However, if the day selected on the calendar is 12 or less, the date is for some reason entered incorrectly onto the sheet. example: calendar date selected = 08/12/2010. shown on sheet as 12/08/2010???? What is going on here? how come the day and month are swapped around if the day is less than 12????

Populate Calendar If Date In Associated Cell Show Date On Calendar

Apr 4, 2013

I currently have a worksheet that when a user clicks on the cell, a calendar form opens. From here they can select a date, click ok, and the date gets placed in the corresponding cell they clicked on.

Now if the user needs to change that date, i want them to be able to click on the cell again, and when the calendar opens, the date in the cell would be selected on the calendar. I was able to do this in a userform, but im not sure how to edit it to work on the worksheet. I am using the below to populate the calendar.

Code:
private sub worksheet_selectionchange(byval target as range)
if not intersect(target,range("aa16:aa24")) is nothing then .show calendar
When the user clicks the date, the below code places it in the cell.

Code:
private sub ok_click()
with active cell
.value=calendar1.value
end with
unload me
end sub

Now the below code was used when I was using a userform, but im not sure how to edit this to pull the date from the active cell.

Code:
privatesub userform_activate()
me.calendar1=date
if not tb is nothing then
if isdate(tb.value)then me.calendar1.value = tb.value
end if
end sub

Linking To Other Workbooks

Jun 20, 2014

It is quite standard to create links between workbooks, and generally I do this by inserting an "=" sign in the cell I want data to appear in for Workbook 1, I then open workbook 2 where the desired data is and click on the cell housing the data I want.

I just went to do this, and upon putting the = sign in the cell I want in workbook 1 and clicking in workbook 2 nothing happens except my cursor is now in workbook 2 and the = sign just remains alone in the workbook 1 cell.

If, however, I put an = sign in a cell in workbook on and then click another cell in that sheet or a cell in another worksheet but in the same workbook a proper link is created, so the problem seems to be isolated to links to other workbooks.

Validation And Linking

May 27, 2008

I've attached a basic excel file with an example of the problem I need to solve. As you can see, if you select "No" to "Do they have a pet?" then conditional formatting blocks out the next field. The problem with that is, it still allows you to enter a value into the "Type" field which is skewing my results. Is there a way to allow a value in "Type" ONLY if there is "Yes" in "Do they have a pet?". I would also like it to delete the value in "Type" if I later select "No" instead of just covering it up. Is this possible? I'd like to avoid the scripting route if at all possible but I'm not sure it is...

Also, I have two linked spreadsheets, one pulls the totals off the other. However, If I add rows into the original it does not update the total formulas in the second sheet. Is there a way to make it do this automatically?

Linking Two Spreadsheets

Aug 5, 2008

I am working with excel2003. I have to different workbooks in which on is a Bill of lading that is used to show the items being shipped. The other workbook has a list of the items that we ship.

On the BOL I want to be able to type in the "L" number (or I.D. number) in D14, D19, D24, D29. By typing in the L-number I want it to automatically bring up the product name into cells E14, E19, E24 and E29. With the exact name of the item it will help prevent employee error. I want it to also bring over the exact weight over from the flavor list in cell range C5:C28.

I have the FlavorCodes range with all the L-numbers on the BOL in cell range U9:U48. I thought I had it set up correctly but when I select the L-number in the drop down list in cells E14, E19, E24 and E29 I get error code #NA. I thought I defined the cell range but it is still not working.

The workbooks are attached below.

Linking Buttons With A Row?

I am using the following code to create the button but am not clear how to link a button to a row or cell. The button would be within a cell in a row at the end of the data.

Range("a2").Offset(rowoffset, 10).Select
ActiveSheet.Buttons.Add ActiveCell.Left, ActiveCell.Top, ActiveCell.Width, ActiveCell.Height

rowoffset increments within a loop and a button is placed at the end of each row of data.

Period 11 will contain the same workbooks but named workbookA11wk1 etc.

The data from the workbooks is then used in graphs / tables for each year.

About Linking Cells?

Sep 9, 2007

how do I go about linking cells?

Example:
Lets say I have a workbook with 6 sheets on it and the sheets names are:

Sheet1
Sheet2
Sheet3
Sheet4
Sheet5
Status

And we will just use cell A1 through sheet1 to sheet5 and the status sheet to grab the numbers from sheet 1 through sheet5
Sheet1 through sheet5 will have numbers in cells A1

Sheet1 : 586
Sheet2 : 436
Sheet3 : 621
Sheet4 : 610
Sheet5: 561

And in the status sheet I would like to find the highest number from these 5 sheets and put it in cell A1 status sheet and have it linkable like when it finds the highest number it will put it in cell A1 on the status sheet and when I click on the A1 cell in the status sheet I would like it to goto that sheet that has the highest number it found and maybe highlight it or something.

I have individual spreadsheets which represent individual projects/quotes for our customers. I'd like each of our sales staff to have a summary spreadsheet which summarises all their ongoing projects in one spreadsheet, dynamically.

when a new project is created on a new (projects/quote) spreadsheet, it looks to the summary spreadsheet and looks to see if that project exists in the summary, if not, it creates a new line and writes the summary details to it. then as the project spreadsheet evolves, it updates its details on the summary sheet dynamically.
