I am trying to run a Macro code only on Thursdays in a workbook.
I am having difficulty in triggering the code.
I need help writing a formula that will tell me what the dates are for the
Thursdays that fall within a specified time period (i.e. 04/16/06-05/15/06).
I would like each date to fall in it's own cell, so there will either be 4
dates of 5 dates depending on the specific month long span of time.
I want to put a macro in that will refresh the workbook before this next part of code is run:
[Code] .....
I tried putting this in before:
[Code] ....
But it isn't refreshing the workbook before the next part is run
I need vba code to retrieve the workbook name and place it into macros. the workbook name does not change in the macro if the name of the workbook changes. so i need to assign the name to a variable then use the variable name as the workbook name............
View 9 Replies View RelatedRight now I use a VBA-Code to create new worksheets in a workbook. my Question:
is it possible to attach code to the newly created Worksheet via vba-code??
I am trying to write code to open a new (blank) workbook while in an existing workbook (I am then going to pass data between the two which is easy). When I try to record the code to get the syntax for opening a new workbook it will not record any code. I also need to name the new workbook based on text in a cell in the existing workbook. I just saw before posting this that the code;
workbooks.add
will open a new workbook now I just need to name the new workbook based on text in my existing workbook.
I want is a Macro that will save the file as .csv, with the same filename and location as the original (just in csv format). A hotkey would be quite handy for this. I tried using the macro recorder and fiddled around with the code a bit but my programming knowledge is quite limited and I ended up with something that doesn't quite work as i'd like. I'm sure this would only take a few seconds to code for an experienced user, which is why I post here. I would post my attempt at doing it myself but i'm on a computer that doesn't have excel at the moment.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is the code I have:
Windows("2.xlsm").Activate
Sheets("Report_P").Select
Sheets("Report_P").Copy After:=Workbooks("New_report.xlsx").Sheets(9)
2.xlsm is open. it contains a sheet called Report_P New_report.xlsx is open and has 9 existing sheets
Every time this tries to execute I get a "Run time error 1004 Copy Method of Worksheet Failed".
What is wrong with this code? I have an identical line in another macro, the only difference is that there are 5 sheets pre-existing, and that works fine.
I have used the following piece of code to stop error checking in my excel spreadsheet:
Option Explicit
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
' Application.ErrorCheckingOptions.BackgroundChecking = False
End Sub
The problem is - works fine on my computer, but when distributed on the server the folloeing error is returned:
Run-time error '438':

I have a worksheet that changes in length. There is a formula that calculates how many pages the sheet will be. The also is a print button on the sheet that will print a coversheet "Sheets("Title")" and then it is supposed to print the data on the second sheet. Below the code I have so far... I know I am missing something, but knowing very little about macros I just can't seem to figure it out.

I am trying to write a code in VBA to collect data from several weekly workbooks, and list them up in a monthly workbook.
These weekly workbooks change names depending on the week, for example, we have:
Report week 1.xls
Report week 2.xls
Report week 3.xls
Report week 4.xls
Each report has the same layout, so the data I want will be in the same cells. However, as the report names change as the weeks in the year go on, I can't write the code for weeks 1-4 as they will not work with week 5 onwards!
I have found out how to chose a file of my choice using:
Sub GetImportFileName()
Dim FInfo As String
Dim FilterIndex As Integer
Dim Title As String
Dim FileName As Variant
' Set up list of file filters
FInfo = "All Files (*.*),*.*"
' Display *.* by default
FilterIndex = 5 ......................
Following syntax is incorrect, what is wrong? This should happen: Select op a specific worksheet (named DATA) in the workbook Report.xls and I empty the contents
Then I try with a 'With' statement to read the contents of a file named "sourcedata.xls' with helds a worksheet named "source". The values in this sheet should be tranfered to the sheet DATA in the workbook "Report.xls"

I am trying to write some code that is linked to a Command button. The code in the command button is in my workbook called "MF Consolidated ACTUAL DAILY REPORT - Dev.xls" but then I have another workbook called "MF BANK EXPOSURE SUMMARY.xls" that I want to do some work with - namely delete blank columns and it is here that I am having the problem.
My problem is this: my code module is contained in my project "MF Consolidated ACTUAL DAILY REPORT - Dev.xls" and the columns that I want deleted are in the "MF BANK EXPOSURE SUMMARY.xls". Now even though I believe I have activated the "MF BANK EXPOSURE SUMMARY.xls" workbook the action, that of deleting the blank columns is performed on the "MF Consolidated ACTUAL DAILY REPORT - Dev.xls" workbook. Why?? Here is the code that I am using:
Sub Commandbutton()
'ASK FOR DATE AND SET IT IN THE REPORT
Workbooks("MF Consolidated ACTUAL DAILY REPORT - Dev.xls").Worksheets _
("Seg and Non Seg Bank Summary"). Range("I1") = Application.InputBox("PLEASE ENTER REPORT DATE IN THE DD/MM/YYYY FORMAT")
'ACTIVATE MF BANK EXPOSURE SUMMARY
Workbooks("MF BANK EXPOSURE SUMMARY.xls"). Sheets("Seg and Non Seg").Activate

I am trying to use VB to vlookup between to workbooks
1. Make active workbook WBK1
2. Make workbook being open WBK2
3. Copy and Paste between WBK1 and WBK2
4. Have a vlookup in WBK1 and bring in the values from WBK2
5. Close WKB2
6. Copy, Paste, and transpose values in wkb1 within wkb1
The script works fine until it reaches the vlookup step. I have used the vlookup by itself without the copy and paste code successfully but when I combine the two it provides me with the error 9. Subscript out of range.
Consider two instances of Excel - one with a workbook containing a chart and some VBA code, the other containing a blank workbook. When I paste a chart from the first instance of Excel to the other, all the VBA code from the original workbook is also pasted into a new third hidden workbook in the second instance of Excel! If that weren't weird enough ON WINDOWS XP (but not Windows 2000) if the VBA code included WorkbookOpen or AutoOpen this code is executed in the second instance of Excel, which of course fails if it references sheets that only existed in the workbook open in the first instance of Excel! This is the first time I've seen the same version of Excel do different things on different versions of Windows! Example attached - What's going on!? Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;...note: this does not happen when pasting charts between workbooks open in the SAME instance of Excel

It seems to work fine when there is an error, but the code still gets read even when there was not an error. Basically, I am trying to open a file, which may or may not be there. When it is not there I want a message to pop up informing the user. However, when the file is there and it opens, the error handler still gives the message box. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

my existing macro, as the run takes to much time to complete. (at least 20min) I've already tried several loops, but no one worked for me. Following situation: There are two excel files, entries in column 73 - 85 will be copied from WorkbookRust to the other workbook if the numer in column 5 is the same. Not every cell within this columns contains data, so the macro should automatically jump to the last entry in each of the above mentioned columns, instead of predefine the range as you see in the code below. After the data is copied to the other workbook, it will be filtered acc. to Sub FilterMain and then copied back to WorkbookRust. As already said, the whole thing works, just to lame.
Sub Allmacros()
Dim WorkbookRust As String
WorkbookRust = ActiveWorkbook.Name
ChDir "C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplausch"
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplauschCH_Revenue_2008.xls"
Sheets("Main_Overview").Select
Windows(WorkbookRust).Activate
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!UpdateEntries"
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!FilterMain"
'not ask to overwrite existing file

My company has files that are already in use. I don't know too many details about how they work, but somehow saving the file will screw it up and my boss has to go back and reset something or other to correct it. Obviously it's connected to some other software somewhere. The code below will block Save and Save-As. BUT how do I get the file to hold onto the code without actually saving the file after the code is added (since the file shouldn't be saved)?
VB:
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)
If SaveAsUI = False Then
Cancel = True

I'm trying to find a way to save a single sheet of an excel workbook and in the same process delete all vba code and shapes from the new single sheet workbook. I was looking around and found this code which does save only the single sheet to a new one sheet workbook but doesn't delete the vba and shape that I have used to assign macros to in the original.
Code:
Sub SaveSheetAsNewBook()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim InitFileName As String
Dim fileSaveName As String
Dim wshape As Shape
InitFileName = ThisWorkbook.Path & Format(Date, "mm.dd.yy")

The amazing code I saw was from this thread Auto lock cells after data entry when file saved... where the code was made by Jafaar Tribak.
It basically locks cells that have had data inputted into them when the file is saved (with a nice prompt warning of the used cells being locked.
This is Jafaar's file [URL]
And this is my file where I'm trying to make it work in the "Employee data entry" Sheet:
[URL]
And finally this is the file after I tried to copy the code over : [URL]
Trying to make it so that in the employee data entry sheet locks cells after an employee inputs some data into said cells.
I thought that by setting an "inputrange" on the employee data entry sheet the code would track it down automatically but maybe I'm completely wrong. I cant see anything wrong with it (probably because I"m not that good at vba) but I fear I may have left out something really simple!
I seem to disable my other macros when i try to insert this code in (I have a macro that when you click on a cell a calendar pops up so you can click on a day from the calendar rather than typing out the date)
How is code or functions kept unique to a workbook? for instance i create a few toolbars that are relevant to "work book 1", however when i open another workbook "2" the toolbars do not function properly or are removed by the opening/closing of the work book, similarly other macros seem to struggle with more than one workbbok open at a time.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a macro that, when run, needs to read the contents of cell B5, and run the code that it contains.
Cell B5, for example, would contain the text:
Range("B13").Formula = "SUM(D12:D14)"
I need a macro to "execute this code", as if it were in the macro itself.
I have assigned the above to a variable, but am not sure how to execute it.
EG.
Dim the_calc
the_calc = Range("B5").value
Now, how do I run the_calc ?
Here's my macro:
Code:
Sub CopyRow()'
'Copies row to new sheet, highlights it, marks column 'A' as copied.

Dim cCell As Range
Set cCell = Selection.Cells(1, 1)
Selection.Copy
Sheets("Sheet2").Select
Rows("2:2").Select

Is it possible to modify it to paste into a different workbook called c:filesDestination.xlsm, instead of the existing workbook (Source.xlsm)? The destination sheet name is the same (Sheet2). It's OK if both workbooks are open at the same time.
I have data in 2 different workbooks, and I need to transfer all data in 'Jx_ex1' to sheet1 in the 'template' workbook, and all data in 'Gr_ex1' to sheet2 in 'template' workbook. All data should be transferred to the same cell numbers, from A1 to Y5000. I actually have loads of workbooks to transfer to the template but if I have an example with the two then im sure I can work out how to modify it. All files will be in the same folder.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Macro that is stored in a specific workbook,"Projection Modeler.xls" the last line performed in this macro is the close workbooks without saving chages(this needs to be done due to the way this macro was written, and it would take too long to rewrite). If I would then like to reopen this workbook, and then rerun this macro, can I do this from inside the current macro (in a new sub routine, for instance), or do I have to write a macro outside of the workbook and then open the workbook and call the routine?

I need a macro that will copy all 42 tabs in to a new workbook book without all formulas, but saving all the formats have made. This would save me from every other day coping and pasting manually each of the pages.
I have this nice macro that copies data from another workbook. I want to make it to also add the filename of the workbook (for example data.xlsx) it copies the data from, in a cell on the actual workbook (for example on sheet "Combined", Cell A10). What should I add to my macro?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am creating a spreadsheet to provide to a group of about 40 people. The spreadsheet allows each member to track the referrals they receive and give. I need to plan on creating updates for the spreadsheet and want to make it so they can easily transfer their data to the most current version in the future. Here is a breakdown of the workbook:
Worksheets:
Members
Lists
Referrals Given
Referrals Received
Totals
Formulas
I need to copy the data that they have input from the following worksheets:
Referrals Given
Referrals Received
Here is a breakdown of the "Referrals Received" worksheet:
A1:V4 - Data that will not change and includes many named cells
A5:Nxxx - Dynamic Named Range where they input their data
O5:Vxxx - Contains formulas
I need to be able to copy
A5:Vxxxxx
from the old workbook to the new
Some side items to note:
There is VBA in the worksheet of
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
and included in the code is an Unprotect & Protect code to always keep the sheet protected
I figure whatever works for this sheet will work for all the sheets.
