Copy Data From One Workbook To Updated Workbook Using Macro
May 1, 2012
I am creating a spreadsheet to provide to a group of about 40 people. The spreadsheet allows each member to track the referrals they receive and give. I need to plan on creating updates for the spreadsheet and want to make it so they can easily transfer their data to the most current version in the future. Here is a breakdown of the workbook:
Worksheets:
Members
Lists
Referrals Given
Referrals Received
Totals
Formulas
I need to copy the data that they have input from the following worksheets:
Referrals Given
Referrals Received
Here is a breakdown of the "Referrals Received" worksheet:
A1:V4 - Data that will not change and includes many named cells
A5:Nxxx - Dynamic Named Range where they input their data
O5:Vxxx - Contains formulas
I need to be able to copy
A5:Vxxxxx
from the old workbook to the new
Some side items to note:
There is VBA in the worksheet of
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
and included in the code is an Unprotect & Protect code to always keep the sheet protected
I figure whatever works for this sheet will work for all the sheets.
Currently I have two files: Samples.xls and RefSamp.xls. RefSamp.xls currently contains data from Samples.xls and Samples.xls is updated periodically. As samples.xls continually updates I would like to copy to RefSamp only the lines that have not been previously copied over (perhaps some sort of pointer to be used?)
Some of the lines from Samples.xls are removed and/or edited after I have them in RefSamp, which is why I do not wish to copy all the data over each time.
Code: Sub CopyRow()' 'Copies row to new sheet, highlights it, marks column 'A' as copied. ' Dim cCell As Range Set cCell = Selection.Cells(1, 1) Selection.Copy Sheets("Sheet2").Select Rows("2:2").Select
[Code] .....
Is it possible to modify it to paste into a different workbook called c:filesDestination.xlsm, instead of the existing workbook (Source.xlsm)? The destination sheet name is the same (Sheet2). It's OK if both workbooks are open at the same time.
I have a workbook that has a lot of formulas in it that reference material stored on my local computer.
I need a macro that will copy all 42 tabs in to a new workbook book without all formulas, but saving all the formats have made. This would save me from every other day coping and pasting manually each of the pages.
I have this nice macro that copies data from another workbook. I want to make it to also add the filename of the workbook (for example data.xlsx) it copies the data from, in a cell on the actual workbook (for example on sheet "Combined", Cell A10). What should I add to my macro?
I need to copy several macros from the Personal Macro workbook to a new workbook that I need to take to another computer. I need to be able to run the macros on that computer. I can only record macros and make minor changes in the VB editor. I do not know VB code.
I am looking for a code that would copy the data from each worksheet in a given workbook and then paste to just one worksheet within a different workbook. The Sheet names are auto generated when I run this canned report but the naming structure is always the same...the first worksheet is named Repair Details and then the next sheet is named Repair Details_1, the next sheet is named Repair Details_2 and so on for every sheet in workbook. So I would like to copy all of the data(Headers to last cell) and then paste in a worksheet(ex: Master Repair Report.xlsx and the worksheet could be titled Master Repair Details) on a different workbook, then the next sheet would copy from the one under the header to the last record and paste to the same workbook. This process would repeat for every worksheet in the Repair Details Workbook and paste to Master Repair Details worksheet in the Master Repair Report workbook.
I have some vba that opens a closed workbook, copies data from a named range and then pastes it to the active workbook.
However, what is happening is that the closed workbook is opened and only part of the data is pasted. What I would prefer to happen is this:
Open the closed workbook-->copy the named range-->paste(append) to next empty cell in column B.
Heres the code that I have got.
Sub Workbook_test()Dim wb As Workbook Application.ScreenUpdating = False ' turn off the screen updating Set wb = Workbooks.Open("G:WAREHOUSEPlanningSmartNew Training Plan raining plan.xls", True, True)
On one workbook I have "column A" that lists serial #'s, one serial number per cell. What I need is to be able to take all the non blank data from that column and copy it to another workbook with all those serial #'s in 1 cell numerically sorted and separated by commas.
I would like to use a command button to copy a row of data from one workbook to a column in another workbook. The row of data will have different values on a daily basis but will always be B2 through BE2. I would like the copied row of data pasted in the next available column to the left in the other work book.
I'd like to create a macro to copy data from tables in a workbook named "Survey Template 2014" to another workbook named "Status Report." Basically, I'd like the macro to search through the sheets in "Survey Template 2014" based on the Aircraft Registration No: entered in cell R2 of "Status Report." Once the required sheet is found, I'd like to start copying the contents from the "Description" column from 4 tables (Left/Right Wing Structure, Flight Controls/ Empennage/Doors, Nose/Fuselage and Interior/Passenger environment/Misc) if any data exists. I'd like the data to be copied into C19 (under Tasks Column) of the "Status Report" workbook.
I have two workbooks which is attached 1)Daily and 2)Daily-2 i need data of Daily -2 to Daily workbook into relavent sheets not the title row. I have written some code for this but iam unable to make because data sometime is more or less in both the sheets.which needs expertise in macros which iam not.
I have a one workbook where I put in some data and some calculations are performed. Some of the data calculated I want to keep a running log of. I found some code on how to copy a cell to the next available row on a worksheet, but I want to put it in a totally different file. Also I would like to not have to open the other file up to transfer the data. Is this possible? My idea is to have a command button to push when I'm done entering the data.
I would like to use a dropdown box for all the names in my worksheet. Once a name is selected have all the rows filtered on that name and copied to a new workbook.
I think I'm making this harder then it is, but I'm just not comprehending what needs to be done.
I have 3 workbooks open. 1 is my working file and I name it as "Final[date].xlsm". The other 2 files are my source files which are also open are named as source1.xlsx and source2.xlsx. Both the source files has only one tab/sheet as "Sheet1". My objective is to bring the contents of the source file to my working file in 2 different sheets. all the contents in Sheet1 of "Source1.xlsx" should be paste.values only to the "Final[date].xlsm" with a sheet name "BankDetails". This will enable the user also to replace the old data in "BankDetails" tab. The "source2.xlsx" sheet1 has a different situation. I need to copy only the cells with values, not the entire cells, because it has to be pasted (values only) to range C2:L. I have formulas in the other columns before C and after L.
Take note that my working file name is changing every based on the date while my source file has always same file name.
I have two workbook having 8 worksheet each. Every day I need to copy data from previous day worksheet and paste it on new workbook with same sheet name.
For example :- Workbook1 is having sheet named aa, gg, tk ..... Workbook2 is having sheet named as same as Workbook 1
Now, I want macro to copy data from Workbook1, sheetname 'aa' and paste the same in workbook2 in sheet name 'aa' and likewise
computer just doesn't have the horsepower to run all of the sheets and the formulas and put them together on one sheet in the same workbook.
I was wondering if it would be possible to take the identically arranged sheets from one book and paste the VALUES over to One page in another book.
I'm guessing you'd need to know the directory of the workbook and the title?
Below is the macro i run to compile in to one page in same workbook: (Summary3 is an arbitrary name for the new page, HEADERS is the name of the page that holds the headers for all of the categories, 2014 URL, RAP and DB_Template are the three sheets that I don't want to copy in to this new page)
The headers are in each sheet from B2:DL2 and the data would be from B3:DL75.
I am looking for an update to the following macro that would paste all of the VALUES from each of these sheets in to a new workbook on a single page.
Sub CopyAll() Dim ws As Worksheet Sheets.Add.Name = "Summary3" Sheets("Summary3").rows(1).value = Sheets("Headers").rows(1).value For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets ws.Activate If ws.Name <> "2014 URL" And ws.Name <> "RAP" And ws.Name <> "DB_Template" And ws.Name <> "Summary" Then Range("B2:DL75").Copy Sheets("Summary3").Range("B" & Rows.count).End(3)(2) End If Next ws End Sub
I have data in 2 different workbooks, and I need to transfer all data in 'Jx_ex1' to sheet1 in the 'template' workbook, and all data in 'Gr_ex1' to sheet2 in 'template' workbook. All data should be transferred to the same cell numbers, from A1 to Y5000. I actually have loads of workbooks to transfer to the template but if I have an example with the two then im sure I can work out how to modify it. All files will be in the same folder.
I have 17 workbooks which contain similar data and formatting. The only variance is the number of rows of data in each. I want to write a macro in the Master worksheet that will accomplish the following
1. Create a worksheet name in the master workbook with the same name as the workbook that it's pulling data from. 2. Copy over the column headings from columns A:P to the newly created worksheet on the master workbook 3. Copy over all rows that contain the word "down" under column D titled Operational status
The naming convention for the master workbook will be titled "All Switches". The naming convention for the worksheets containing the data are titled Port_Map_on_tiegcsw01, Port_Map_on_tiegcsw02, Port_Map_on_nypgcsw01. There are other names , but I can reference the code an update accordingly.
I found some searches on the forum for creating a macro to copy data between workbooks, but not quite sure how to write the macro for the three functions.
I have a macro code which gets the file list from a folder i specify and puts it in to an excel sheet as a column. I have then made a drop down list from this so the user can select the file they want.
From this file i wish to copy the data on a sheet that i specify. For example the sheet "dump" from file FR7_19.11.2009.xls (which will be a closed workbook) and paste its content in to the sheet "dump" in Summary.xls
I have a macro which opens up the closed workbook FR7_19.11.2009.xls and copies the sheet "dump" and then creates a new sheet of the same name and content in my current workbook (Summary.xls). However when i wish to select a different file to load in to Summary.xls "dump" the formulas i have been calculating information from this sheet all come up with #!Ref errors. I know this is because the macro i use deletes the old dump sheet before re adding a new one containing new data.
I am therefore looking for a macro which will simply just copy and paste the data from any file i select in to a sheet named "dump" as the data is always set out the same in every file but the values are different. I assume this will then mean that any formulas i use relating to this "dump" sheet in Summary.xls will work because the sheet is no longer being deleted and re-added the data within it has just simply been copied over.
I am a macro newbie and I think this is beyond me.
I've been trying all morning with no success to make a macro that will copy data from all columns of one workbook containing specified header text to a single column in a different workbook.
So for example, I've got a workbook called coupon barcodes that has multiple tabs for each person redeeming coupons on sheets 2-88 (sheet one can be skipped) and some of the columns are labeled "voucher 1" in cell A4 or B4 or C4 etc. with a list of all the coupon barcodes that customer redeemed below that. I want all of the data from all of the columns in this workbook that have the header "voucher 1" to be copied and pasted into one column (order doesn't matter) also labeled "voucher 1" in another workbook I have open called vouchering database.
There must be a way to do this that is easier than searching the internet all afternoon again
I have an invoicing spreadsheet, what I want is to have a main working page and then tabs after separated by vendor, but save myself a bunch of manual work in the future.
I want to be able to work in the main tab and the other tabs automatically update with the new info.
So I want the macro to search the text in the first column and if it finds "AIM Land Services Ltd." then I want it to populate the appropriate tab, in this case "AIM", with all the respective information after it ie: A-O. But I dont want it to select any other vendors/ info.
This is what I have:
Sub MoveData() For Each cell In Range("A1:A1") ' Where to look for the date If cell.Value = "AIM Land Services Ltd." Then ' The date Range("A5:O350").Select ' What is the range to copy Selection.Copy ' Copy it Sheets("Invoice_Log").Select ' Select the Sheet it applies to Range("A5").Select ' Where to paste the data
Would it be more efficient to do this while both workbooks are open or to code it in such way that the code opens the workbook, copies the range, selects the first workbook, copies the range and then closes the second workbook?
The way I have it setup now is something like this..It requires some interaction from the user. I was hoping to have EVERYTHING work behind the scenes, but if it will be faster to do it this way then I will keep it that way.
Set MyBook = ActiveWorkbook MySource = Application. GetOpenFilename Set wbSource = Workbooks.Open(Filename:=MySource) Set rngJ18Cpy = Range(Range("B4", Range("I" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp))) rngJ18Cpy.Copy Destination:=don 't know yet
I have two separate workbooks, one is used to create job estimates, and the other is like a running list of the estimates ( Tracking Sheet) that have been entered and completed. What I need to do is send select data from the estimates workbook and enter it on the last line of the Tracking Sheet workbook in a certain order.
Sub copy_to_another_workbook() Dim smallrng As Range Dim destrange As Range Dim destWB As Workbook Dim Lr As Long Application. ScreenUpdating = False If bIsBookOpen("P&WM Estimate Tracking Sheet.xls") Then Set destWB = Workbooks("P&WM Estimate Tracking Sheet.xls") Else.............
I have a workbook I update from numerous sources every day. A few months ago I noticed some of my formatting started to disappear - a couple of borders were missing. a day or two later a couple of cells which had color were no longer colored. number formatting reverted to general so my percentages just showed up as decimals and my dollar values no longer had a $ or commas. Eventually - over the course of several weeks - all formatting in the document was completely gone. A couple of times throughout this process I tried replacing all the formatting, but as soon as I'd save the file, close it and open it back up whatever formatting related changes I had made would again disappear.
Eventually I went back a couple months and pulled an old file which still had its formatting and updated that instead. This worked fine... for about 2 months. three days ago I started noticing the same issues - a few borders disappeared in the file. two days ago a few more borders were gone and a couple of cells lost their color. yesterday and today it has gradually gotten worse again.
