Data according to Macro. Is there a way to replace the current Ascending or Descending macro code with a formula for the required cell groups only?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI simply want to find and replace a character within many cells that have the format general using VBA code. The cells are all dates and are seperated by a '.' but i want them to be seperated by a '/'. I have used this code below to do so, it changes the '.' to a '/' fine but it swaps the month with the day e.g. '08.09.2006' would become '09/08/2006'.

I have noticed once the code is run it changes the format of the cells to date, even tho i include the 'ReplaceFormat:=False' function.
I am selecting a block of cells to apply numerous "Replace" functions to.
So I use the Selection.Replace command - for example:
Selection.Replace What:="Street", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False
if I have been working with Excel previously and did my own "Replace" and applied it to the entire Workbook (i.e. changed the within field from ' Sheet' to:
"Within: Workbook"
Then that field stays set to "Workbook" for subsequent Replace activities, including my VBA code !! Therefore if I do not manually go back and run one "Replace" and set the within field back to "Sheet", the VBA code will apply my Replacements to every sehhet and every cell in the entire workbook. Even if I have selected a Range of cells before issuing the command !! It ignores the selected Range and runs the "Selection.Replace" for the entire Workbook.
The "fix" I found on another site is to run a dummy command:
Set dummy = Worksheets(1).Range("A1:A1"). Find("Dummy", LookIn:=xlValues)
Which works. However, I am looking for a way to add a parameter to the "Selection.Replace" command that will cause it to search using the "Within: Sheet" setting. Otherwise I always have to remember to add that dummy line of code for every single Selection.Replace line of code.
I have the following code written:

This seems to work fine for the most part. However, if the value in Cells(i, 4) is too long, I seem to get a Run-time error '13': Type mismatch. Is there any way to rework this code so it can replace even if the string in Cells(i, 4).Value is too long?
I have a spreadsheet with 2 columns (let's pretend), the first column uses Data Validation for a dropdown list. The second column contains a formula that references the 1st column and uses lookup:
=IF(A35<>0;LOOKUP(A35;NewCons;NewGroups))
So as soon as a value is selected in column A, column B changes to display a value.
Rather than just displaying this value, I would like the cell in column B to be completely replaced by this value, so goodbye to the formula.
Is there a way that I can do this? Will I need to go and study how to use macros?
I have been having a problem with the worksheet (attached) and was wondering if anyone could give me any help.
I will explain the purpose of the sheet etc first and what it does at the moment:
This work sheet is to record peoples projects, hours related to those projects, and calculate their availability 37.5-(project hours+pto) for Belfast and dublin and 40-(project hours+pto) for chicago, and also their utilization which is =((37.5-Availability)/37.5)*100 for belfast and Dublin and ((40-Availability)/40)*100 for Chicago.
When a project is added I am currently going in and updating the formula for that person to incorporate the new row which their project is on, this is proving to be quite time consuming, and I was wondering if there were any macro’s that could be used so that it would search for a name on the first column and use each of the hours that are in the column for the given week to calculate the availability?
The utilization is not a big problem as it just uses the availability so as long as the availability is correct then the utilization is correct..
If there is not a macro do you know of any way this can be automated so that I do not manually have to add to formula for each cell when a new row is added with a project and hours?
I need to replace part of a formula. I need to delete the workbook reference: "[Combined Flow2.xlsm]". I need to do this for range A1:Z100 and this is what I record when deleting them one at a time:

I want to have a macro that gets the date I inputed in another cell and changes the date in the formula I displayed above (just changing the date).
I have created a workbook that generates new worksheets with unique identifiers as tab names. I.e. On a "Create New Sheet" worksheet, input three pieces of data, click "Create New Sheet" and this data is applied to a template sheet, macro continues running to copy the template and rename is with a unique SKU.
My problem is as follows: I have yet to figure out how to generate an Index page that is updated as each new sheet is added with the following:
a) Cell containing the SKU and a hyperlink (or some other link) to that particular tab, and
b) Beside this cell, pull the contents of certain cells from that SKU's tab (such as description, but also the contents of calculated fields on that SKU's tab like current quantity and current price).
I would like the Index to be live so that if data is changed on the SKU's tab, it flows through to the Index......

This worksheet has around 40,000 records, and I need to create a Macro that will ask the user for a date, and when the user enters a date the macro goes through column A and finds all of the matching dates and then replaces the numbers (along with the formulas) in the corresponding Add Returns cells (column E) with 0's.

I'm trying to copy the formula both down and across but I'm guessing both issues are the same.
I have a new sale structure to put in place the commission is paid in the following way:
below 1500 zero commission
between 1501 and 3000, commission at 16%
between 3001 and 8000, commission at 23%
above 8001, commission paid at 30%
Ergo if you generate 5000 you would be paid 700 ie nothing for the first 1500, 16% of the second 1500 and 23% of the remaining 2000. ( I hope my maths is correct! )
I have tried to manipulate other solutions using sumproduct but my knowledge is poor, the formula I have tried manipulating is =SUMPRODUCT( (A2 > {0,1500,3000,8000}) * (A2 - {0,1500,3000,8000}) * {0,0.16,0.23,0.3}). I prefer single line formula rather than lookups as staff will not be able to see commission rates easily.
I have a fairly complicated working time calculation I need to make, the sheet calculates how much 'actual working time' is spent on a product. 'Actual working time' means just that, breaks & any other non working time removed from the total.
My sheet set up is as follows:
Column Z = Start Date
Column AA = Start Time
Column AB = Finish Date
Column AC = Finish Time
Column AD = Actual working Time (hh:mm)
Column AE = Planned stop time (hh:mm)
Standard working times are:
Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:15
Friday 0730 to 1200
First tea break is 10:00 until 10:10
Lunch is 12:30 to 13:00 (except friday)
Last tea break is 14:40 to 14:50
1) Jobs can be 'in production' for many days, sometimes weeks
2) Overtime may be run before or after shift, also weekends
3) We can have 'Planned stop time' which will also need subtracting

A pal at work runs a football predictions spreadsheet but due to a recent surge in numbers, it is taking longer to adminster each week.
Basically, you get 3pts for a spot on home score, 4pts for a spot on draw, 5pts for a spot on away win and only 1pt if you get a correct result but not the actual scoreline, with no points being scored for being completely wrong.
At the moment, he manually inputs 0,1,3,4 or 5 pts each Monday, of course this is open to human error. Is there a way of getting excel to calculate this for him once he inputs the correct score in the first column?
I finally managed to create my very own macro calendar BUT it does not fulfill the function that I need it to neither do I no whether it is able to at all.
Basically, I have created a form that I distribute to Line Managers to complete and one of the fields is the date so the first problem with me macro is that it only appears on my PC and secondly I cannot seem to embed it in my workbook as a button. Is this possible?

Data is;
83300 - hypothetical number of times I have fired my gun at target.
43209 - hypothetical number of times I have scored bullseye.
So, my bullseye percentage = 43209/83300, or ~51.87%.
Need formula to determine how many more consecutive bullseyes I need to shoot, in order to achieve 70% ratio.
Since each shot from now on will be a bullseye, both values (hits & shots) will increment together.
