Automatically Re-name Sheet To Cell Value & Create Copy Of Hidden Sheet
Aug 10, 2008
I have a workbook with a hidden sheet ("Template") and a visible sheet("New Job"). I need code so when cell F1 in "New Job" is populated:
1-the sheet is renamed to the value of F1,
2-a new tab is made (a carbon copy of the hidden sheet "Template")
3-the new tab is named "New Tab" and marked as unhidden.
Public Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
ActiveSheet.Name = Range("F1").Value
End Sub
Function WorksheetExists(SheetName As String, _
Optional WhichBook As Workbook) As Boolean
Dim WB As Workbook
Set WB = IIf(WhichBook Is Nothing, ThisWorkbook, WhichBook)
On Error Resume Next
WorksheetExists = CBool(Len(WB.Worksheets(SheetName).Name) > 0)
End Function..................
I want to create a loop, that copies the cell B11 from each sheet, and creates a new sheet called "Average". In this sheet I want it to add sheetname in column A, and in column B the value fetched from that sheet..
I want to create a macro button that can create copy, insert, paste and rename the new sheet in next month's name, like if the active sheet's name is January, I want to copy the whole sheet of January, insert new sheet, paste the new sheet and rename the new sheet to next month like February?
Also rename the new sheet (February) cell B3 the same as new sheet's name (February)
So if month of February is near end, the macro button in February will create the same way as Jan did which means the next sheet will be named March and so on.
I use the code below to check and see if a sheet exists or not when a workbook is opened. If it does not, continue. If it does I need to run a different sub on it. Twist, I need to check for a hidden sheet. How would I chg the code to do this?
Private Sub Workbook_Open() 'Also need to check the code in the userform. Has On.Time command. 'SplashForm.Show Sub Sheet_Test_1() Dim sh As Worksheet On Error Resume Next Set sh = ActiveWorkbook.Sheets(" total") If Err.Number <> 0 Then MsgBox "The sheet doesn't exist" Err.Clear On Error Goto 0 Else MsgBox "The sheet exist" End If End Sub
EXAMPLE: Complete Sheet called "Day1". When day1 is complete you click on button and it then copies itself and creates and renames new sheet to "Day2", then when "Day2" is complete you click on button and it then copies itself and creates and renames new sheet to "Day3", and so on and so forth to "Day30".
I am trying to create a tracking spreadsheet in which modules need to move through certain phases. I have tabs for all appropriate phases. I would like to be able to select from a pull-down the current phase and have the spreadsheet automatically populate the appropriate tab. Ideally, I would like to be able to edit the process in any of the phases and have it backfill as well (ie if the status changes while in phase 3, I don't have to go back to phase 1 to change it, I can edit it in the phase 3 tab and phase 1 will automatically update).
Additionally, I would like it to calculate this constantly not just when the spreadsheet opens.
I have achieved this partially with formulas but I am finding that it is extremely slow and also doens't always update correctly. I also can't get the circular referencing to work so I don't have full capability using the formulas.
I have about 100 products and each has its own sheet that I fill with data. Once I have finished with a sheet I rename it and create a copy and then hide the original and delete the entered data from before and start over.
Is there a way I can make it so when I hide a sheet it will automatically create a copy and delete a specific range?
how I can get this thing work. I am trying to create a model/code that copies old sheet and create a new sheet and paste the copied old sheet into the new sheet automatically each month.For instance, if my current sheet is February tab, I wish to create a model/code that copies February month's tab and paste it onto a new sheet, for month of March, at the end of the month.
I have a workbook, wich copies content from an overview sheet to different other sheets. that works fine, but if I try to hide the content-placeholder sheets, I can't copy my content anymore.
here the part where I get the error;
'OldValue contains the name of the "copy to" sheet as a string
This works fine but what I also need to do is delete the blank rows in the holding sheet "Staff_Import" and copy back to another sheet "July_Sept" without removing the formatting in "July_Sept" sheet ie cell fill & borders.
I have a database (attached) that has data entered into the "Progression" sheet. This data is continually updated, and once each row has a section date, I have a macro that moves the data from "Progression" to the "Complete" sheet (and from there, into a specific month sheet). I AM REALLY CONCERNED with data accidentally getting deleted (especially when/after getting moved to "Complete"). I know that you can link cell values from one worksheet to another, but since my data is continually changing in the Progression and Complete sheets, the linkage wouldn't maintain the correct cell values from day to day. Is there a better approach to creating "backup" data in excel than this linkage option? Preferably something that runs in the background without my input?
An option could be that I move my data from Progression into both the Complete sheet and then a hidden "Master" sheet when I run the macro. If I chose that route, how would I modify my coding to include transferring to the Master sheet as well?
Lastly, a simple linkage between the Master sheet and another sheet in a second workbook should be sufficient as a backup method?
I am trying to create a single input sheet that automatically feeds data into several other worksheets within the same workbook. Some of the sheets use the same data, some are completely independent of each other. The point of having this is so that users can go in, fill in the input sheet, and the other sheets will automatically be filled with data from the input sheet.
I have a userform which clones the latest sheet and produces copy of it on the next sheet. The first sheet they will be cloning is the sheet called 'template', I however want this to be hidden since I do not want anybody to modify a sheet which basically serves purpose of a template. And once cloned, it is no longer needed.
On the click of the command button, the macro will create sheet1 taking the info from sheet named 'Template' in the same workbook . And now on the next click of the command button, Sheet 2 is created taking the info from sheet1 and Sheet 3 is created taking the info from Sheet 2 and so on. Here is what I currently have, so how can i modify it in order for my scnerio to work?
I have a button on a sheet that runs a macro to unhide another sheet. That works, but I want the sheet made visible to remain forward. Instead, the button unhides the sheet and the sheet the button is on comes forward again. I am unable to figure how to keep the sheet made visible forward. Here is the macro 'as recorded'.
I have a spreadsheet where i have security set to prevent a user from selecting locked cells. However when a user selects a cell that is in a row at the bottom of the vissible area the comment text can not bee seen. What i need is to determine what the bottom vissible row is and use that to compare the row number of the current row and thus decide if i should scroll down to improve the visibility of the help text for the cell in question.
I have a Workbook with multiple worksheets. On one of my worksheets (Sheet4) I have three cells, let's call call them A1, A2 and A3.
A1 = Annual Budget A2 = Money carried over from last year A3 = Current financial year.
Formulas in other sheets are dependent upon these cells. I also have 3 userforms, one relating to each cell, with each form containing a textbox which enters its contents into its respective cell after clicking a command button. The userforms should display if the cell it relates to is empty. For example,
Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate() If .Range("A1) = "", Then Budget_Form.show End If End Sub
The problem I have is that the userforms only appear if I manually change the contents of the cells that they relate to. I need the sub to run every time the workbook recalculates. On top of that, I want the sheet to be hidden but the subs to still run. After looking around on other sites, I have pieced together the following code and placed it in the code for Sheet4
Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()..................
Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim wSheet As Worksheet
On Error GoTo ErrHandler
Currently, my excel is protected with a password "PSWD" when users open the file. In my vba script, I have a function that can unprotect my excel without any password input box to the users. This method is to unprotect the file and allow users to do any formating columns and rows tasks, such as add or delete cells. After users finish their job, the file will be protected back. The function is such as below:
Dim wSheet As Worksheet For Each wSheet In Worksheets Application.ScreenUpdating = False If wSheet.ProtectContents = True Then wSheet.Unprotect Password:="PSWD" Else
My questions are:
1. How I can create a hidden sheet that has one cell populated only?
2. How can I assign the password that the user enters at the "TextBox1" (first code) to a cell of of the hidden sheet? Do I have to modify the first code?
3. For the second code, how am I going to assign the value to at the wSheet.Unprotect/Protect Password:="..." with whatever the user has previously chosen as a password that refers at the hidden sheet?
How to automatically copy a row of data from one sheet to another, only if a specific cell contains specific data. It would have to populate on one sheet but read from multiple sheets in the same workbook.
I.E. if tab 213 has "SOP" in column F, I would like to copy the data from that row and insert it into the SOP tab.
i have a workbook that has a lot of sheets but i need to pull information from the one sheet "Veneer Log" i Need it to make new sheets with the same heading as on the "Veneer Log" (Rows 1 & 2) Sheet but it needs to be filtered by the "Product" Column (H) with a new sheet made for all the diffrent products i.e. Dimensional, Drywall, Corners - Thin V., Accents,..... so each product will have a new sheet with i am hoping someone can help me with this. This log changes Daily and it would be nice to have a sheet with only the same product on it to compare new orders so we can batch run. i hope i have given you enough information so someone can help me with this. i have attached a sample log the real log has about 10 worksheet for diffrent departments but i only need info from the Veneer Log Sheet.
I would like a macro that will go to a fixed sheet, copy the format, go back to the previous sheet and paste the format. My problems arise going back to the previously activated sheet rather than just a fixed sheet.
So i have two sheets with user info and so on, my boss asked me if i can transfer person names from sheet1 to sheet2 but each name must be in correct place acordingly to username column
Capture6.jpgCapture7.PNG
in capture6: in F18 you see 139401arle and G18 is supposed to be his name but it's in other shhet as you can see
in capture7 his name "Ar Sveinung Leira" is in E5
is there any way to transfer names so that they go in right place?
I have a workbook with 8 tabs and one master tab. The 8 tabs are where the user enters information and the master sheet contains all employees from the 8 tabs. All tabs, including the master, have the same columns in the same order. How can I automatically have the information populate to the master tab as information is changed on the tab groups? I had a vlookup on the master sheet going through all of the sheets however it slowed my report down tremendously and caused too much lag.
I have several rows worth of tasks with several columns associated with each one of them. In other words, each task will have some event, comment, date etc. and a flag at the end if it's complete or not. Below is a very simplified idea.
A B C D
1 Event Date Done
2 Party 12/10/2013 Yes
3 Marathon 12/20/2013 Yes
4 Graduation 01/15/2013 No
Formulas that I have used so far have accomplished everything I need except one thing. I would like to copy rows to a different sheet (tab) based on the flag condition i.e. if the string says "Yes" (in this example), I would like to copy that row to a different sheet and do that for each row. In the example above, rows 2 and 3 would be copied to a different sheet creating a list/summary of complete events. As that is copied, I would use that information again on that new sheet to do more things.
Ok so i have 2 sheets. Sheet 2 is a form that needs to be printed.sheet one will have data pasted into it by the user. The data will be placed in column a and b. If a has data in it then so will b. Now I need the macro to identify if data is in a then the macro needs to then copy a and paste special into A18 on sheet2 then copy b and paste into A6 on sheet2 then print sheet2. Repeat this process to every row as long as A has data in it.
I have Worksheet 1, with columns A to E. I would like a row to be copied to Worksheet 2, as soon as cell F in Worksheet 1 is populated. Also the row to be deleted from Worksheet 1.
So, as soon as F1 in worksheet 1 is populated and enter button pressed, row A1:F1 will be copied to the next empty row in worksheet 2, while being deleted from worksheet 1. So eventually all rows in worksheet 1 will be deleted and rows in worksheet 2 will be populated.
The following URL has a great solution to this problem, I was unsuccessful in implementing it. Excel VBA: Create Worksheets for Each Item in an Excel Table of Data
Need A macro to copy a pre-set sheet, we can call it a "template sheet", for each name in a pre-set range, a list. This list will have empty cells and names from F9 to F190. For each name i need it to copy the template sheet and place the sheet name within the new sheet. Should a user delete a sheet, activating the macro again should re-create the missing sheet and not just crash (was told there could be an issue).
