Autosize A Combo Box's Width
Aug 2, 2006I'm trying to automatically resize the width of a combo box based on the width of the longest item in the combo box. The data in the rowsource of the combo box is dynamic.

Autosize A Comment
Jun 3, 2009my macro processes a lot of data and puts a comment in certain cells (several thousand of them). I would like to autosize the comments so that the text can all be read by default.
I found the following on the web:

code to stick in this (probably after the third line) that autosizes rows 4 to 33. There are no merged cells involved.
Cell Comment Autosize
Mar 17, 2009I have the code below, and it works perfectly on my Mac. But... on my PC it does not.
The cell comment does not resize horizontally when I enter text. So if I enter a long comment I get a comment box that extends far to the right to fit the contents in. Vertically it is fine, nothing cut off and no extra space.
Any ideas why this would be? Any ideas how I can force the text to wrap in the cell comment box?

Aug 25, 2006Among many attempts to insert and autosize a comment using VBA manually, which errored, i recorded the following bit. When running the macro, it does format the cell - text, not the comment - text and errors in the line highlighted in red.

Sheet Protection Conflicts With Code To Autosize Row Height
Apr 23, 2007When turning on sheet protection, I get an error with the following code that I'm using to make sure rows adjust their height when lines wrap.

What can be done to eliminate this conflict? All of the cells I want available for editing are unlocked.

Jun 5, 2012I want to fill a listbox with n columns so there is no space other than the text in it.
I have tried this:
listbox1.columncount = 2
listbox1.columnwidth(len(activecell.text);len(activecell.offset(0,1).text))
Or:
mystring = len(activrcell.value) or refer to the excel column width
listbox1.columnwidth(mystring;mystring2)
but I get an error message.
Or max of list len or something. The default width is to big and specifying the length could make it to small.

I am thinking of creating 50 bins for the chart. The range (max - min) of the data can be from £10 to £5,000,000.
A straighforward formula will be (max - min)/ 50. But I don't want decimal point in the bin numbers.
I am thinking of using Floor/Ceiling function, to round the bin-width to whole numbers, but 10/50, 100/50, 1000/50,..., 1000000/50 all need to round up/down to different scales! for example, I want 100/50 round to 5, 1000/50 round to 50 etc.....I was wondering is there a formula I can use to calculate the bin-width based on the criteria above or similar?
Locking Column Width And Row Height?
Jul 22, 2007I'm creating a map like image with Excel, and I've set the column width and row height to certain dimensions. Now I'm entering in some text into them, and I noticed that when I added in 2 digit numbers, the column width expanded a little bit. I want to prevent this from happening, and still be able to enter in the 2 digit text (since it WILL fit, and it's expanding to keep that extra bit of space).
Is there any way to lock the dimensions?

Reducing Width Of Command Button
Jan 8, 2012i want o make some command buttons on a sheet with the width 50 and when you move the mouse over to any one the width of that one should increase to 300. when you move he mouse over to the other one the size of the previous one should return to 50 and the new one (now under the mouse) should be 300.
i have written the code for it how ever it tends to increase the width twice i.e. it will increase the size of the command button, then reduce it to 50 and increase it again. this action makes it look like it flickering

Print To Fixed Width File
Apr 4, 2012I have this data below in an excel worksheet. I'm using the ws.Cells(x,x).Value command to read values from the cells an print them out to a .prn fixed width file. However when it writes it to the .prn file my numeric fields don't have are not 0.00 but 0. And also the numeric fields are left justified I would like them right justified in the .prn file.

How To Adjust Width Of Columns Faster
Nov 17, 2012 1. Is there a faster way to adjust the size of the columns? I had to use my mouse to stretch the column out. This can be quiet time consuming if there are 8 columns needing to adjust to the same size. ie Col A, B,I, J needs to be the same size.
2. Can Excel determine the best size for the column? Say I need a column with data saying "yes" and "no" and a column for the letter "X" only or do I have to stretch the width of the column myself?
