Copying Part Of Cell Which Has No Spaces?

How to copy part of a cell to a new cell when there are no spaces or specific features to use in the formula. My cell contains a data and time as such: 2013-10-22T14:05:34Z

My hope is to keep the data 2013-10-22 in one column and transfer the 14:05:34 to a new column...if the 'T' and 'Z'

Copying Part Of A Title (after A '-') To Another Cell

I have a lot of titles like "A Company - Strategy A", "A Company - Strategy B" and what I am hoping to do is strip out the part after the hyphen to the cell directly above. This is the case across about 200 columns, I'd imagine this is pretty easy?

The attached spreadsheet makes it very clear.

Copying Part Of A Cell And Pasting It To The Cell Next To It

I have just generated a report of current customer numbers for our company. Unfortunately it reports it as "162 (162)". No idea why the program does it like that because it now makes using VLOOKUP very difficult.

What I want to do is copy the "162" part of the cell and paste it into the adjacent cell to make it easier to manipulate the worksheet. All of the customer numbers are in column D if that makes a difference.

Copying 2 Columns Of Data Into A Single Row While Adding Spaces

I have two columns D and E that contain dates and values. Column D has the dates and Column E contains the corresponding values.

I need a macro to take all of the dates in column D (it is pulled from a different macro so the length of the two columns varies every time but starts at D2) and paste the first value in W1, the second value in AE1 , and so on (every eight cells).

I need to do the exact same thing with Column E except start at Y1, then AG1, etc (still every eight cells).

Copying Last Row Then Inserting It Screws Up Part Of Formula?

I have a spreadsheet serving as a simple document register. Column A is a unique document reference number, which is a simple concatenation of some text which prefixes all of the document numbers, plus the date in "yyymmdd" format (from column B) and a 3-digit sequence number (from column C).

Column B has no formula - my macro just pastes a timestamp in there.

Column C is a sequence number field which has a formula comparing the "yyymmdd" part of the timestamp with the cell directly above it. If they are different then the sequence number becomes "001" - if they are the same then the sequence number is incremented by 1, so all docs created on the same day have an incremental sequence number.

Here's the problem. When I want to add a new document I need to copy the last row down to the next row (in preparation for the next document to be created by my system) and there are two ways I've been doing this - one which works and one which doesn't.

This works > Say my last row (with the hidden formulae) is row 13. I select A13:C13 plus the three blank cells directly below (A14:C14) and do a Ctrl+D to copy them down. All is well.

But the following doesn't work - why? > I select the entire row 13, copy it, then reinsert it at row 13 so the formulae in row 13 get shifted down to row 14. What goes wrong here is that my formula in column C which WAS comparing the date in B13 to the one in B12 NOW compares B13 to B11

I've attached an example spreadsheet to try and demonstrate the problem. Sheet 1 is the original sheet. Sheet 2 is the "copying down" method which works, and Sheet 3 shows what happens when you copy the entire row 13 and "Insert copied cells".

Copying A Formula Without Changing A Part Of The Reference

I have this If statement on one of the cells

=IF(A7=AQ6,AQ32,IF(A7=AR6,AQ32,IF(A7=AS6,AQ32,IF(A7=AT6,AQ30,IF(A7=AU6,AQ29,IF(A7=AV6,AQ33,IF(A7=AW6 ,AQ33,IF(A7=AX6,AQ31,""))))))))

If I want to change only A7 to A8, A9, A10 without changing the other parts of the formula, how do I do that. I need to copy this formula in about 300 rows.

Increment Part Criteria Of Formula When Dragging/Copying

As per this screenshot,

I am trying to work out a method which will allow me to drag the forumula which is in cell B13 from B13:B17, and have in increase the date serial number by one for each row by which it descends.

In other words I want to drag the formula down to, say B14, and have it increase the date serial to = that which is in cell A14.

[the obvious benefit of being able to do this is that I don't have to manually adjust the date serial in each cell on each new row]

I have columns that are defined with these width's:
A - 9B - 1C - 12D - 12

I need a macro that would add spaces to the right of the cell if the cell does not have number of characters of the lenght of the column width.

For instance:
Cell A1 has 5 characters so it would need 4 spaces.
Cell A2 has 7 characters so it would need 2 spaces.
Cell B1 has 1 character so it would NOT need a space.
Cell B2 has 0 characters so it would need 1 space.

I'm creating a worksheet that gives a list of part numbers based on the product part code. In most cases I can use the following.

=LOOKUP(O6,{0,1,2,3,4},{"NONE (M25)","SMP-55-001","SMP-55-004","SMP-55-008","SMP-55-014"})

so this gives a part number depending on what number is placed in O6. What I need to do know is look at 2 different cells and for each combination of numbers give a different part number. so if A1 is 2 and B1 is 3 give a certain result.

Removing Spaces (?) From A Cell

I need to do a lookup on these cells but for some reason they all appear to have some kind of space characters in each cell which you can see if you double click on them. I have tried trims, text to columns, find replaces and none of these seem to work

I have a huge list of these numbers / codes and they all have the weird space kind of characters at the end

Can anyone give me a solution on how to remove them so my lookup will work?

Matching Cell With Or Without Spaces

I'm trying to match in the example, 'Name 1' which will pick the number below name 1. However if I have any space before, ' Name 1' in cell A1 than it won't match. I've put in wildcards in the formula but it still doesn't pick up the space? I need the formula to pick up either no spaces, or any number of spaces before or after 'Name 1'.

Removing Spaces In A Cell

I have a column with 11 digit numbers formatted as text (Column C) and it seems like there's three spaces after the number (In Sheet A). I am trying to do a vlookup comparing Sheet A to Sheet B. It's not working and not sure if it's the extra spacing in the cell of Sheet A that's causing the Vlookup not to work.

I would like to compare both lists to see what UPC's are on both sheets. Any ideas how I can do this?

In Sheet A, Column C contains UPC (11 digits) 07845968952

In Sheet B, Column E contains UPC (11 digits)

Padding Cell With Spaces

I know how to pad cells with zeros for a numeric field. I can't figure out how to custom format a cell to pad a text field with spaces.

If I want description to have 10 characters, if they enter BLUE I want it to be BLUE then 5 spaces to make a total of 10) if they enter RED I want it to be RED with 7 spaces to make a total of 10.

With a number, I can just enter 00000 and if I enter 4, it will be 00004 Can you do this type of thing with a text? I can figure out a formula to get what I need, but I want a way to do it directly into the cell when the user types it in.

I would like the value to be displayed in such a way that it is on the right position in relation to other days. As shown in the following code I have tried different functions to get remove them, but they are not working. Are those not spaces?

Any easy way to remove all spaces from a cell, both leading and trailing? I find it hard to believe that Excel doesn't have this functionality. I don't particulary want to write a VBA script since I have never done it but if that's the only way, I'd love to know how to write it. I am looking to subtotal specific cells. Basically it is a download from a data base and I have designed an input area for other users to input their predicted figures. But I am trying to put an automatic subtotal for each area depending on the spaces at the start of the cell. I have got a very longwinded formula to get the right subtotals in other files by categorising each line in another file. I tried the Trim(Cell) but that doesn't seem to work, this data does not appear to be text. I can't even change the format on it, doesn't make a difference.

At the end of each row's cell value I must add a 5 char string. Preceding that string I must have enough spaces to make the total length of each row 106 characters.

I've already:Defined and populated the string. Let's call it "strMyString".Established how many rows are in the sheet and stored it in "lngUsedRange"Written the following which cycles through each row establishing how many spaces need to be added:

Remove First Part Of String Of Text And Keep The Second Part?

Is there any way to remove the first part of a string of text in a cell and save the second part?

The first part of the text string is a team code that has a variable number of numbers, capital letters and sometimes spaces. The second part of the text string is a variable number of words in a team name that all start with a capital letter and have lower case letters. Every line has a different team code and team name.

The original spreadsheet also has a column with just team code. Is there a way of using this column to "subtract" the team code from the text string to just leave the team name?
