there are unique entries like AU0896 etc. that are repeated in my list.
my job is to find how many unique entries there are and add the count at the end so, basically if there are 6 AU0896 entries, then I must create a AU08966 value.

I have been trying a number of different functions! I have the following countif function that is searching a worksheet (Cases Closed) for the name John in Column O and excluding Solutions in column x. The problem I have is there are duplicates cases in Column C that are being counted two and three times. Is there anyway to have the following function exclude duplicates records in Column C? Highlighting For Duplicate Entries
I would like to check column B and if any of these values match values in column J hightlight the cell on the same row as the match on column E green. I don't know much about excel but this would be a tremendous help because i'm looking through quite a bit of data. Clear Duplicate Entries
I am trying to find a macro that will clear duplicate entries in a column of data, and then move to the next column and repeat the process until it gets to a blank column. There are blank cells between entries in a column. I need to keep the data unsorted as the cells are linked to others in the row, therefore I dont want to delete the cells, just clear the contents.

Got a workbook with 4 worksheets and sometimes we need to cut and paste a row from one worksheet to another, now thats easy now as we are all human and sometimes it gets copied and we have duplicate logs. Now each sheet has usually not got that many rows in it, but that spreadsheet is getting sent to the highest people in the company and any mistakes look poor. What i'm looking for is a way that i can highligh any rows that a duplicated in each worksheet. I can do it in each worksheet using conditional formatting with something like = COUNTIF($A8:$A$20,A8)>1. but don't know how to check that is not on any other worksheet. Duplicate Entries, Validate Only One
In my spreadsheet, on ( sheet A) I pick up a value to a range (O2:O22) from other worksheet (sheet B), the value is validated when a cell in the same range but other column (A2:A10) reach a specific criteria. But in the same column if the criteria is typed again I gone a have the same value on range( O ), and I dont want that, because this value represents a total for a day, and is to be added to other cell. Wihitn a large SS I have a column which has a number of entries that may include an amount of duplicate entries. Till now I have been using Sort and them manually deleting the duplicates is anyway that I can select just the Column and then without sorting go down and if a duplicate is found, then the duplicate would be deleted. If Statement For Duplicate Entries
I have a spreadsheet which has data in column A & B. I trying to do an if statement to state "YES" if data in both A and B has been duplicated. EG 111 in (A) & 222 in (B) are a PAIR, im need an if statemnet in Column (C) to say if this PAIR are duplicated in these two columns return "YES". I have tried THREE different methods to do acheive this which are in the attached document. The main issue I am having is the iff statement is returning yes for some of the number when thye are completely different. I have used concatenate, & and tried to multiply the two values to try to make it unique. I have an example of each in the separate tabs.

Finding Duplicate Cell Entries
I have a lengthy excel spreadsheet in which I catalog all of my Karaoke song collection. I would like to be able to automatically locate (not delete) cells in which there are duplicate song titles. For my purposes just finding these items quickly so I may deal with them in a manner I've already developed is all I want to do. VBA, Macro or whatever would be appreciated. I'm a relative novice with macros and VBA. For example row 12 may have the song title "Crazy" in column C and later row 1200 may have the same song title. Manually searching the spreadsheet for dupliates is way too time consuming so I think it can be seen why I'm looking to unlock the power of excel to do this for me.

How Do I Conditionally Delete Duplicate Entries?
I have 2 columns of data, apprx. ~25,000 rows. Col 1 is user IDs and Col 2 is there status (pending, conditional, approved, rejected) Col1 IDs are not unique because they can have multiple statuses associated with them in Col2. Stop Duplicate Entries In A Row
=COUNTIF($A$1:$D$100,A1)=1 however I don't know how to change that to suit my needs (or even if it is at all possible to change it to suit my needs) I will try my best to explain how my spreadsheet is set up as unfortunately I am at work and I can not use the method to show you the spreadsheet. My spreadsheet: I already have Data Validation in use from a list that I created. I use the same validation list in Columns C, E, G, I, K-BA I also use validation list in other cells, and it is OK if these are duplicated throughout the row. The only cells that should not contain duplicate information are the ones from C, E, G, I, K-BA Basically I want to stop someone accidentally chosing the same option from the list within the same ROW. Vlookup - Pick Last Of Duplicate Entries
Writing this workbook in 2007, but it will be used in 2003. Have searched but can't find answer to this. I have a 5-column (A to E) table array and I'm using VLOOKUP in several other cells to return values in col2, 3, 4 & 5 with my lookup value being col 1. However, col 1 will contain numbers which occur more than once. How can I get VLOOKUP (or something else?) to pick the last occurence (lowest row) and use that one? Also, the array will be sorted - smallest to largest - as the rows go down - how will the SORT work on duplicate entries? I'd like, if possible, for the entry made most recently to be the lowest of the duplicate entries so that VLOOKUP (or whatever) will pick that one to use. Will any kind of SORT do that?

Mark Duplicate Entries With Formula
I am trying to create a column to match duplicate information, primarily numbers, so I can delete the duplicate information. Using the Find option is too time consuming. I am pasteing the new info above the previous weeks info. Some years ago I used a formula that would "Match" a range and I believe it would copy the duplicate in the empty column but it's been so long I am not certain nor do I remeber the formula. Count Formula: Count Total Entries In Columns
I have been using the wrong formula to count total entries in columns and only just found this error. The MAX formula in cell B4 is: =MAX($B$12:$B$36). If the all the rows are full within range F12:F36, then the MAX formula is fine to count the total within range B12:B36 (25) so I thought. But sometimes there are omissions between F12:F36. If there are 2 blank cells anywhere within F12:F36 for example, then B4 needs to show 23 respectively. In the sample WkBk B4 needs to show 8

Textbox Spin Button With Duplicate Entries
I'm working on a userform in excel 2003 and have hit a bit of a brick wall. I have a listbox on a userform that shows only unique entries (customers) which are populated off sheet1 (called Names). On the sheet itself, there are customer entries repeated when there is more than one contact stored. I have the listbox working fine to show each customer only once. My problems comes in here: On the userform I have a textbox (this textbox in turn will determine specific contact details to be shown in other textboxes for the contact displayed) with a spinbutton that I want to show each contact for a customer (only showing one at a time and change made with spinbutton). Find And Mark The Higher Value In Series Of Duplicate Entries
I have a approx. 70 excel sheets with thousands of entries. Within a single sheet there are some duplicate entries (based on an account number). I find the duplicate entries by using the excel 2007 conditional formating and then sort by color to only show the duplicate entries. There are often hundreds of accounts that are duplicates. Sometimes there are more than 2 identical account duplicates (could be 3,4 or more). In each entry there is a number representing the rating of said account. These numbers differ within the duplicates. Example............ I am trying to find a formula that will choose a "winner" and enter a "W" based on the highest rating within the duplicate entries and then ideally assign an "L" to the loser duplicate account(s). Sometimes there is no rating, other times the rating could be the same in which case any account (does not matter) can be assigned a "W" and the others an "L"

Finding Duplicate Entries In Column Considering Indirect Referencing
I wonder if there is any easy way of findinig (numerical) duplicate entries in a column? Some cells are empty, in case this might cause a problem. I do not wish to delete duplicate rows automatically, just to find them. Why not just sort it? Because indirect referenceing is used where each row corresponds to a separate spreadsheet in the workbook. What I need is to find the duplicate so that I manually can erase one of the spreadsheets for the particular case and adjusting a reference list.

Duplicate Entries For Single Data Points Sets
I am using old macro code in excel written several years ago. I am trying to educate myself to update and improve the macros I am using but not making much progress. This macro is used to record data from a DDE link to a Data Acquisition System. The D-AQ system sends the data points to r5c3:r5c9 typically. The macro then records the data points in those cells to the next row in sequence on a specific time interval. However, the macro is recording duplicate entries for each set of data points. Sometimes just two, but has been as many as four duplicates. I have a remove duplicates macro to run, after the fact, but preventing them from occurring in the first place is the goal. I included the application.wait method at 10 second intervals after the application .OnTime method, but it isn't preventing the duplicates. I want to count the number of rows which have a duplicate student number, up to 15 duplicates in a row, and show the total number of duplicates in a Separate Column. I.e. I am hoping this can be done with formulae. Starting at C7 and continuing down the C column there is a list of names which could potentially run from C7 to C5000. This list of names will contain duplicates. For each name there is a corresponding 'reason' in the F column which will contain the word 'Truancy' or 'Late'. I have a list of words in one column, some of which feature more than once, in random order, i.e.: Bird Plane Superman Superman Plane Superman Bird Plane I want to have a function that counts the number of times each word appears, so in the cell next to each entry for "Superman" it would say 3, for "Bird" 2 etc. If I add another "Superman" it should then change to 4 next to each entry. Also, I will be adding new words all the time, so the function needs to be able to cope with that too.

I have attached a spreadsheet where I need the cells B2 to B8 to return the number of Y/P's (in column D) by Unit (in column E). There are duplicate entries in column D, however, if entry is duplicated, it is only to be counted once. Is there a formula to be able to do this? Count Unique Entries Within Variable Date Range
Using the DCOUNT function is generally a straight forward proposition but I'm not getting the expected results and would like for someone to take a look and help me understand why. Goal: create a count of unique entries within a defined variable date range I have a data table with duplicate values and need to count unique entries, the result of which will be used in a calculation. Due to a requirement to track the counts in a rolling 30-day period, the flexibility of daily selecting the date ranges is a necessity, which is why I chose to use DCOUNT and feed dates into the criteria cells. I've been attempting to use the DCOUNT function but I'm not getting the correct result. Oddly, after duplicating the table and formula on the "Count Repeated Items Once" page, even those results are incorrect. It seems, too, that COUNTIF does not like (accept) dynamic named ranges. Hard coding the range into the formula yields a result of TRUE, but using a dynamic named range gives FALSE. Anyone else experience this and is there a work around (that is, if I have not erred in its use)?
