how I would create an event macro that will synchronise the zoom % of 2 sheets?
E.g. if I change the zoom on sheet1 to 80% then sheet2 automatically change to the same? And the same the other way round...?
If I send a workbook out with the zoom set at 90...will the zoom be at 90 when others open it.? Also, is there a worksheet event that I could insert to force a specific worksheet to always open with the zoom at 90??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just been sent a strange file, which I have attached, on its only sheet columns "A" and "B" have data entered in them, but they are not visible. You can access them if you select column "C" and use the left arrow key, but all attempts at unhiding and changing the column width are fuitless.
I have tried selecting the ENTIRE sheet, then Home>Format>Unhide Columns but it does nothing I try selecting the entire sheet, then Home>Format>Column Width and setting it to something, like "20", but again it is fruitless.
I even tried using a macro in the "Immediate Window" to ask Excel whether the columns are hidden (by using "?Columns(1).Hidden" and it returned "False") then I used a similar macro ("Cells.EntireColumn.ColumnWidth = 12.75") and again - nothing! :O
I have not used an event macro before and am trying to one update a cell when changing a cell. I am basically copying a number to another cell that is an input for a calculation and then returning the calculated value back. How do I reference r69 in the code to start the event macro?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Col D of my spreadsheet, I have a list of security codes, in this list there is a security code "all", i need a macro that will add 1 to the code, so it reads "all1", now i need the macro to run as soon as new data is pasted to sheet "Lending", the ranges in Col D do change on a daily basis therefore cell reference for security codes is not fixed.
Can this be achieved? ............
I have looked at a series of Change Event topics and code but can't see what I need. I simply want a macro to run automatically when a cell ....which contains the Maximum time from a range.... changes. I assume I use .... I constantly delete a sheet, then repopulate it with a new one that is empty, but I need to add some code that happens if they should change a particular cell. It worked when I ran it on a worksheet without refreshing, but as soon as I cleared and repopulated the sheet, it was gone. Is there a way to preserve this?

The code points to the next blank cell so the user can input a value. Each time the user enters a value I want to re-run the code so that the colour of the cell changes.
However I also want to perform various calculations on the sheet. However this means the sheet is being changed and so continually repeats my code.
How do I add the following, to my previous code?

I know you can predefine the level of zoom you want by using the ActiveWindow.Zoom control. I'm trying to find some code to Zoom in by a particular percentage. For example +10% zoom, so if you are currently on 90%, excel zooms to 100%, click again and then get a zoom of 110%.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having to run at low resolution on a sheet currently, so I'm using a zoom/center routine to make the dropdown lists visible for selections.
Issue I have is how do I select cell A1 after my error handling and exit routine properly. I couldn't get it to work without trying to select cell A1 before I would make a dropdown list selection. For now I am just running a separate macro to select a1 tied to a pushbutton as a temp fix. Code is attached.

Attached is book in which, when a choice is selected from Drop Down list in ColumnF the macro has to do the need.
When the macro was written it was working well. But when I tried to change it as a Worksheet_SelectionChange event nothing is happenning even though a choice is selected from drop down list.
Basically the situation I have is Sheet2 has many references to cells in Sheet1. Sheet2 is for all intents and purposes a kind of nicely formatted report form, and Sheet1 is the input form.
My ultimate goal is to automatically resize row heights on Sheet2 when cell contents change on Sheet2.
Using a worksheet_change event isn't working I presume because it doesn't see the formula output change as a worksheet change, the worksheet_change is firing only when the input is changed in Sheet1.
how can I capture these formula output changes on Sheet2 (triggered from input on Sheet1) OR is there a way of making a particular sheets rows always adjust in height to best fit?

I have all my trading data laid out in a tabular format simlar to what is shown in the top screenshot. My tabular layout differs in that it includes 4 additional columns. My chronological data layout I'm using seems to be troublesome for conventional Excel charting methods.
When I apply custom filters for open dates and close dates, my Excel charts do not dynamically react. What I have determined is that I need to bypass the conventional charting methods used in Excel and focus instead on using Charts that rely on a VBA script or a formula. My objective is to have multiple charts (like the ones shown in the screenshots link above) all using the same data nested in my tabular trading log.
Can anyone out there help me out with setting up Charts that are more robust? I would appreciate example VBA scripts and / or links that will show me how to setup charts that dynamically react to custom Excel Filters, and can group together matching data sets in a column and show such data sets as a single slice in a pie chart. Currently, I'm getting multiple pie slices for the same data set. I need a formula or a VBA script that will clump together all of the data that belongs in the same group and show it as a single slice in a pie chart.

I have a user input box (VBA) with two columns of data entry. The leftmost column has text boxes labeled color1, color2, color3, etc.. The rightmost column has text boxes labeled tag1, tag2, tag3, etc..
I have the TAB sequence set to go from color1 to tag1, color2 to tag2, color3to tag3, etc..
A user can inadvertently tab over the color1 (or color2, etc. columns) into the tag1 (or tag 2, etc. columns) column without entering data in the color column.
Is there coding to allow a TAB key entry to be a Change Event such that, if a user TABS out of color1 without entering data, a MsgBox could signal that they must enter data in the color1 field before they can continue?
Alternately, can you suggest a different approach? The goal is to require an entry in the leftmost column (color1) before they can proceed to the tag1 field. Of course, they are given a "Cancel" option.
I am trying to determine in code whether a file exists in a certain location. This seems to be very slow even in a folder which contains just one file. Is there any way to speed up this process? Three seconds seems like a long time especially given that I will have to loop through this Sub many times. The files I am looking for are CSV so I can't use msoFileTypeExcelWorkbooks unless I can modify what file extensions this looks for. I only started dabbling with VBA a few weeks ago so it is entirely possible I'm barking up the wrong tree and should be using another method to acheive my aims.

I have two sheets (A & B) and on Sheet A an employee inputs a job number into column B and what I then want to happen is have column D populate automatically with the clients address. This client address is located in Sheet B. I figured the best way to do this was to use a combination of the 'Change Event' method and VLookup utilising a bit of VBA, but I just cant get it to work - I keep getting a #Name? error.

However, when I get to the line of code that reads the value in that particular cell, it is pulling the value that was in the cell prior to the change. When I view the sheet I can see the new value. When I do a debug.print or ? in the Immediate Window it shows the prior value.

However, I am lost from here on....Let me try and explain what it is I am trying to do. This seems so simple if you know how. Each time that the word "Completed" is entered in to a cell from J16 onwards, the cell two columns to the right on the same row is selected and the current date is entered.
If the word "Completed" is deleted, I want the date on that row to be deleted.
I would also like the choices "Completed" and a blank cell to be given in a validation list via a dropdown if possible to avoid occurances of "Complete" etc and mis-spellings but I understand that a bug may stop me from using this functionality. I am running Excel 2002 on a Windows XP Professional OS.
