How to Lock Individual Cells in a Worksheet excel 2007 .... i.e.
A2:A8
I want this selected area locked with password.
It is possible to lock the Author of the Worksheet in File --> Properties --> Summary Tab..?
I am using Excel 2003 & 2007..
I have searched and found many examples of code that will lock cells once data has been entered. But for some reason, I cannot get it to work in my workbook. The weird thing is, I have successfully got them to work on blank workbooks. I unlock a range I want people to be able to edit, I protect the workbook, I enter the code, and it works. But I do the same thing on my workbook, nothing locks.
I've tried locking all the cells on a sheet, and only unlocking a small range, as in the examples (A1:A10), and I cant get it to work. I've tried not pre-protecting the sheet, I've tried 4 or 5 different examples of code. If it wasn't for the fact I've gotten it to work on blank workbooks, I'd think VBA was disabled or something. I can't post a copy of my workbook for you all to look at because its on a stand-alone computer at work (and the USB is disabled for info-sec).
Excel Version 2007
I am looking to write a code to lock/unlock cells based on values selected using a drop down list (see attached Excel) For example if Netherlands is chosen as the Country (Column A), then except for the columns Amsterdam (column B) and Eindhoven (column C), all other columns must be locked. Similarly, if India is chosen as the country from the drop down list, then only the columns New Delhi and Mumbai must be editable for the user, the rest of the columns remain locked.
I tried tweaking some of the lock/unlock codes around, but got lost especially with getting to run the macro - still trying to come to terms with running a "Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange" function in the sheet from "Module"!
For work I keep track of errors in files my co-workers make. So in one individual cell it may look like this :
OP15698
OP25687
or
OP45986
OP74563
I simply need to count how many of those file numbers there are in one cell.
Is this possible? I also use Excel 2007.
Here is my situation:
I created one worksheet called: Assumptions. In this worksheet I have 6 different columns representing 6 different cases.
I have completed the first case in a different worksheet called: WL. I would like to copy this case/worksheet WL and be able to change all the reference cells used in case#1: WL to case#2: FA. So all the cells used in my Assumptions worksheet were in the B columns for case 1: WL, for case 2: FA they will all be in the C column, same row, different column.
Any quick way to do the changes?
My case #1 worksheet as over 10 000 formulas, I really don't want to change each and every formula.
I was thinking there was a way to highlight ALL the reference cells used in my Assumption worksheet, so I would have had to drag from B to C cells, only 50 cells. But I can't find it.
Ok I am using Excel 2007. I want to copy 4 cells from a row on sheet 1 to sheet 2 based on value in first cell in row. Example if cell a13 > 0 then copy row 13, cells b13 thru e13 only to first available row in sheet two but starting from row 12 on sheet two. Because sheet 2 has title information at the top from row 1-12.
I would rather not have to use a button to do it, would like it to do it as data is entered in sheet 1.
Is there a formula to count empty cells on a excel sheet?

I would like to automatically lock all the cells in a row if the date in column A in that row is >= 7 days old. Data is entered once a week (some time Sunday - Saturday) and I would like historical data (rows) to be locked so that they can't be edited inadvertently.
If possible could I also highlight the current working week somehow?
I have attached the worksheet : testworksheet.xlsx
So I am trying to create a budget worksheet for past and future expenses, basically an excel checkbook with running balance
In Column A I have my debits/credits
In Column B I have my running balance so that there is a current total next to each of the debit/credits in column A, it is formulated as follows, it adds the cells directly above it to the cell directly to the left of it (i.e. Cell B10 = B9+A10, which was dragged and iterated to many cells below)
I wan to be able to drag in drop cells in the A column (Just moving them up and down different cells in the A column) with out it changing formulas in the B column.
I tried the $ trick so that for example B10 = B9+$A$10 but if I moved cell A9 to say A10, I get a reference error in cell B10 (why is it doing this when B10 is locked with $)
I then tried going to format and locking the B column and not the A column and then protected the document but I still get the same REF error.
I know I can copy and paste with out effecting it but this is tedious, the whole reason I did this was so that I can move around bills EASILY and play around with what get paid when. There has to be a way to do this, but I'm probably searching with the wrong keywords.
My current project involves sorting a spreadsheet, selecting specific qualifying data from the sheet, storing it into a variable, the pasting the individual values from the list into individual cells on a different sheet within the same workbook. Here is the code I have so far...
Code:
Sub Test()
'' freeze screen updating to remain on main worksheet
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
'' move to Avaliable worksheet
[Code] ..
When this code runs the first item in the list pastes into Sheet10 A1, but no other values from the list are placed into Sheet10. Previous to this I had been using a variation of this code to push the list into a combobox list within a userform. In that case instead of
Code:
ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Sheet10").Range("A1") = x
I had
Code:
Combobox1.list = x
And this worked perfectly; creating a list within the combobox (in fact I can use this modification to interrogate my code to determine if the list is being properly generated, and it is).
I am fairly new to macros and have trouble with VBA. I have a file with multiple worksheets. Each worksheet contains the name of a specific location in cell A8. I want this name in cell A8 to be the name on the worksheet tab for each worksheet in my file but do not know how to accomplish this. Is that even possible?

I have a spread sheet for quote numbers I don't want the employees to take a quote number (A) unless all cells have been completed in cells (C-K).
however there is another condition within this where if cell K says yes then lock Cells N O and P, however if it says No these cell must also be completed to take a quote number.
I have also added a macro to force enable macro with a welcome page and a macro to log the user name date and time of entry, I don't want to loose this it seems each time I try a macro for the locking cells or data validation it disables these macros.
I am trying to lock out cells if a value is entered in another cell in Excel 2010. For instance, when entering a value into N7 (merged Columns N7,O7,P7 into one - not sure if that matters) I want Q7 (same thing, merged Q7,R7,S7 into one) and T7 (merged T7,U7,V7 into one) to be locked out.
So, if N7 has anything typed into it, I would like Q7 and T7 (merged) to be locked.
If that's possible, I would also like for it to happen from rows N7 - N21 ...
Is this hard to do? My understanding is that it's only possible through VBA ... am I accessing the script correctly? (right click the 'sheet 1' tab [named Issues log], select 'view code').

I need to get that list of numbers listed out to the right, with one number per cell. The list in column one could possibly contain from 1 to 20 numbers, and the last number is always without the comma after it.
I am trying to lock cells after today's date has passed so that no one can make changes to it after today's date has lapsed. This is for protective reasons so that people do not remove their names from reserving something after using it. Now the code should disallow locking after cell input entry when today's date hasn't passed so that changes can still be made by the user. I am trying to determine the code to do this but I have no idea as to how to do it.
Here's a scenario: I reserve something for Aprill 11, 2009. I input my name. Since it's April 9th, 2009, I am still able to make changes up and until April 11, 2009. After this date, the cell is locked and no changes can be made, except for the administrator.
I have a log that is used to keep when items are due. I do not want my coworkers to delete items once they have been entered and saved. So the excel sheet I am trying to make has certain cells in a range that I want to autolock after saving. For example: the cell range is G3:J402. I enter Customer Name in Cell G3 and the Date the job was received in H3. Once i enter that information I want it locked once i save it. Then later on, my coworker completes the job and enters the date in I2. And again once she saves this she shouldn't be able to edit this information. Then again another day she comes and enters the date on I3 when the product has been shipped out.
While all of the above activity is going on, new customers are continuously being in added in G4, G5....
Also, if possible the date in the H range should be the date items are entered in G (this would be a nice added feature). I've included the file for review. I'm running Microsoft Excel 2010

I have tried hard to find other solutions with links at the following places but not exactly what I'm desiring:Auto lock cells after data entry when file saved...
Auto lock cells after data entered and SAVED.
Auto Lock Selected Range of Cells After Saving
I should also mention that most solutions either provide for locking/unlocking of all cells but not a selected range. Or they provide for locking/unlocking of a selected range but not for a specific sheet or not after you have saved the workbook.
This is unique in that I'd like it to autolock after i press the save button for a SPECIFIC number of cells. I just wanted to clarify as to not make others think that I haven't used the search function.
I receive a monthly download of individuals call-logs in one "Master File." For internal reasons, I need to separate every person's monthly call-log into individual worksheets. Unfortunately, the file is very large and copy/paste is very time consuming. I am operating on MS Excel 2007.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to save an Excel 2007 document with a VBAProject password protected and can't get it to work. I have tried numerous formats (xlsx, xlsm, xlst etc) and when the workbook is opened the the password protection is not enabled! All the settings for macros etc are at their lowest.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know how to protect a worksheet with a password so that no one can amend the contents or view the formulas in the cells. And then we can un-protect the worksheet by clicking on the "review" tab in excel 2007 and so on. But recently I came across an excel sheet which was password protected and my query is that the "Review" tab was greyed out. What kind of protection was this that clicking on "review" tab option is also unavailable. And how does these kind of sheets get unlocked then.

I have used a simple COUNTIF formula (=COUNTIF(C7:C207,"Name")) on sheet 1 to give me the total I want.
What I now want to do, is display this total on a different sheet in the same workbook (Sheet 3) without having to take all the data from Sheet 1 over to Sheet 3.

Excel 2007. Is there a way to extract information from cells and rows that constantly move? These rows need to be able to cut & paste, copy & Paste, insert and delete. I have the formula I need to display the data, but with the cutting and pasting etc, my formulas get all messed up.
I have the excel sheet on Google docs. It displays some cells wrong because it does not recognize certain formulas.

On the second worksheet, I want the information from columns A, H, M, N, and O to be extracted at a certain time each evening and sent to a worksheet, without sending duplicates. These rows will constantly move which is why my current setup, which is just to display the information, will not work... We decided to try to extract it into a different worksheet or workbook if possible.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using Excel 2007 on Windows Vista Business 32 bit. I have several workbooks. Each one contains 33 worksheets. 31 of the worksheets are for each day of the month, the other two are for yearly totals and revision history. Recently, a menu bar has appeared at the bottom of my worksheet. At the left is an icon that states that no macros are being recorded, click here to start recording. The center of the bar is blank, but placing the mouse over the bar brings up a customization menu.
At the right side of the bar are three icons dealing with page layout. As I scroll down the worksheet entering data for the day, the cursor goes below the bar and the screen does not move up as it used to do. Also, by using the arrows keys to scroll down, I do not see the bar containing the worksheet names. Luckily, I have a macro that allows me to save the current days worksheet and move to the next one, otherwise I would not be able to do that. When I open a previous month, the bar is there also, so it must be a flag that I can't find or don't know about. Is there a way to get things back to normal?
I am creating a login system for two users on a excel worksheet. I have the two users on a drop-down list, Maria and Andrew, which then requires a password entry. This is linked onto a data validation to make sure that the password matches the data table.
After, I then click on a macro, which, when successful, takes me from sheet 1 to sheet 2.
My problem is that I need to have it so that Maria is taken from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2, and Andrew from Sheet 1 to Sheet 3.
