The user enters data into Column E on Sheet1 and i want my code to display a pop-up box when a cell's value exceeds 500. I've tried the two codes below which i thought would work as Excel didn't highlight any breaks when i wrote the code, but no pop-up box is being generated when values > 500.
ATTEMPT 1:
Private Sub Threshold_Check2(ByVal Target As range) Dim cell As range
For Each cell In ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Columns(5).Cells If cell.Value > 500 Then MsgBox "Value within 15% of Threshold" Next cell End Sub
ATTEMPT 2:
Sub Threshold_Check(ByVal Target As range) Set Target = range("E1:E150") For Each cell In range("E1:E150") If Target.Value > 500# Then MsgBox "Value within 15% of Threshold" End If End Sub
Is there a way to change the color of a msgbox? My option then appears to build a userform that basically does the same thing but allows me color selection.
Why is this important? I have a quasi-legal disclaimer that pops up every time the workbook is opened the first time (via a template). My boss has commented that after the first couple of times folks just blow through it without reading it (which is a fair comment).
My thoughts are to randomly change the color every time it opens, hoping that it might catch their attention. How do you control the text color to make sure it stays readable?
If there are any cells highlighted in red (using the conditional formatting in excel 2003), I want a message box to pop up when they go to save saying something along the lines of, "Hey buddy, you really need to deal with this."
I'm trying to search a column for the first occurence of a given text string, get the cell's row (that's the hardest part for me), and color that row.
I've tried using the macro builder, but I can seem to get the referencing right and get different error (91, 424, 1004), depending on how I've managed to mangle my code at the time.
Here's the current version of a bit of my
Set rFoundCell = Worksheets("WBS").Range("B1")
Worksheets("WBS").Columns("B:B").Select Set rFoundCell = Selection.Find(What:="Insert all new lines above this line by insert button" _ , After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlValues, LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:= _ xlByColumns, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:= _ False).Activate
' how do I get the found row? or do I need it ??
With rFoundCell rFoundCell.EntireRow.Font.ColorIndex = 35 End With
I have a worksheet called "Mgr Scorecard". Within this worksheet across the top in row 1 are the Manager names. In row 2 are all of the items for each manager that they are score them on. In column A is a list of our EE's. Based on how they score the cell gets filled in either red or green.
For my example below I am looking for a macro that I can tie back to a command button so that when the button is clicked the macro go out looks at a column "Item 1" for each Manager and for all those cells shaded "green" returns those rows. I know this can be done in conditional formatting but due to the large amount of data to sort a macro linked to a command button will be easier.
So on my example below the macro should return EE 2 & 4 since they are the only two shaded green. I wasn't able to get the shade colors on this after I posted so I just type in what color they would be, but on my actual sheet there is no words just colored cells.
I set format condition in range by tool bar(=if formula is yes then display cell.interior.colorindex=3), but I have no idea how to find out (.address) the red colour cells are displayed in range with VBA?
I have a B2:M13 range. I would like to find a way to find the next cell with Interior.ColorIndex = 1.
For example, if position is currently B2 (so myrange(1, 1)) and the next black colored cell is on B6 (so myrange(5, 1)), I would like store 5 and 1 into variables.
So if no black background is found after current cell on the same row, look for next black background on next row.
If current cell is in row-M (the last one ** the range), for example, and there's no black background following on this row, find first black background in row-B.
I've a worksheet that is 3750 rows of cells from A to DT and contains only numbers with the exception of a header row. The rows are in groups, primarily 4 rows, although there are exceptions - these rows are separated by blank rows. Small example as follows.
I have been trying to conditionally format each group of rows and each column and color the cell in each column of four (or less) numbers in each group that represents the maximum number. It was easy enough to come up with the conditional formatting BUT it will take forever to do this manually. I've been told to use a macro but I know nothing of programming. Has anyone seen or heard of a macro that might already be written to perform this onerous task.
I am trying to come up with a macro that will search a range for a specific string of text plus Interior.ColorIndex = 4. The range can have the text in it multiple times but i only want the macro to fire the next line of it if the cell address also has that color. Is there a way that can be done? My code below stops after it finds its first occurrence of the string and moves on to the next lookup. How do i make it look for not only the value but the index color?
The file will the same file (ABC.xls) BUT the user might want to change it by typing a new name & Extension in the first Inputbox.
2. A second InputBox (Drive & Path) should now Pop-up.
If it will be left empty - the search should take place throughout ALL the installed HDs.
If the user decides to minimize the search range he/she will type a Drive & Path, the search should reduce/constrain itself to the specific Path ONLY.
My task is to show its Path location in a MsgBox (or to show "file not found")
It might be a good idea if the code can be extended beyond presenting the Path to: 1. Open the Windows "Explorer" (or "My Computer") in the specific Path with the file being selected (marked).
2. Opening that file, in "Excel", upon finding it.
A 3 section, VBA, code will be more than appreciated.
I am trying to build a macro that will search a column for the word "TEST" and when it finds that word it needs to prompt the user with a YesNo message box (or something similar) if they would like to delete the entire row that contains TEST. If Yes is selected, it should delete the row and continue on to find the next TEST in the column and repeat this process. If the user selects No, it should continue on to find the next TEST in the column and repeat this process.
I have a file with 2 tabs that linked 1) Input 2) Spread. The idea is for the user to spread the total number they keyed in the "input" by months. I need a code that will display a msgbox if the sum of the variance column in Spread <> 0, so it can prompt the users that they still have to do the spreads before closing the files. I want the action to happen when they attempt to save or close, just to remind them it's not done yet.
At the end of a long macro, I want to search the value in Column A and if value = 0 then it'd return the values in adjacent cell to the right in a msgbox.
All that is returned is the text I inputted.
What I have so far (I picked it up on the internet):
Code: Sub Macro2() Dim msgaddress As String For Each c In Range("A:A") If c = 0 Then msgaddress = "Portfolio Deal with invalid ID:" & vbNewLine & ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Value Next c End Sub
I would like to count up from the last row and color row with blank cells in column F light blue, but only through Column F. THe result would look something like this:
I have a list of numbers in two columns. All I want to do is that if the number in column B is larger than the number in column A I want it to be in red font. I know I need to use the Options>View - Zero Values.", "style="background: ...
I've been trying to come up with a conditional that will format a row if a cell contains any instance of a given word.
I know the following will format rows containing the EXACT entry of "apple" in column E: =$E1="apple"
But I'd like a conditional that will find entries like "apple pie" and "crabapple" as well. I'm sure it's a simple solution, using a SEARCH function or something...but I can't figure it out.
I have attached the relevant spreadsheet for which I need to alter the color of the columns based on Site number ( Sheet 1). % Mortality will be represented in the Y-Axis, and the Site numbers would be on the X-Axis. All columns (% Mortality) except one will be of the same color, and the one of a different color will indicate a specific site. As an example, site 86 is colored differently. The way I require the chart to look is shown on Sheet 1.
After reading through some great posts on Ozgrid, I managed to do this using conditional formatting (Sheet 2), but that sort of falls short because I am required to add a data table to the chart, and the parameter that is indicated by the column bars happens to appear twice in the data table.
I was wondering if this can be automated maybe using VBA, but with the possibility of simply matching the color of columns with the font color of respective entry in the data series.
I have a data base in which I classify cells in three colors (green, yellow, and red) on my own. I would like the first cell in each column to indicate if there is a red or yellow cell in it's column. Because red cells are more important then yellow cells, if there is a yellow and a red cell in the column, I would like the red to over ride the yellow and the first cell would indicate red.
So basically, if there is a red cell in the column, no matter what other colors there are, the first cell should show red. If there is only yellow or yellow and green cells, the first cell should show yellow. If there are only green cells or green cells and clear, the first cell should show clear.
Please see the attached sheet. I have columns B through a lot (B through O in my oversimplified example). In every 7th row in each of these columns there is either a 1 or a blank/zero. I need to multiply that 7th number by the Quantity in column A, to achieve a total (ie the sum of each result of 7th cell*quantity) for each column in the bottom row, labeled "Totals".
In the actual version of my sheet, there are far too many rows to select everything manually. I've been fiddling with combinations of COUNTIF/COUNTA and OFFSET, but I haven't come up with a way to check for the 1 in every 7th row, THEN multiply that 1 by the quantity in column A, THEN add up the results for each column. As you can see, there are 1's elsewhere in the columns that are irrelevant to this particular calculation, so something like LOOKUP would also have to look in every 7th cell and couldn't just look at the column as a whole.
If you can't provide an immediate solution, but can at least point me to a resource that would allow me to devise a way to isolate every 7th row (THAT part is the sticking point), I'll surely post the solution to my own thread with updated keywords if I need it.
1). For each cell that in the range that has a Red background delete the entire column I have attached a sample spreadsheet where I have tried to do this. It's not quite working. It does not seem to work when there are RED cells next to each other.
I know that I can do a simple thing like column("A:A"), but I'd rather have it in a loop as in the sample code, in case the columns change in the future.
2). The second task is to delete the rows in the spreadsheet where the first cell in the row is a blank.
I am currently using a color count function to both count by color and count by color and cells containing certain characters, such as # or %. This works great.
However, I need to modify the UDF to count all the cells in a range in columns C:Z that contain alpha, AND IF the Interior.ColorIndex of a cell in column B within the same row of the counting formula equals the Interior.ColorIndex of a cell in column B within the same row of the selected cell in the range.
Basically, Column B is a header row, and I want to count the cells in a range in each column C:Z if they contain a name AND their corresponding header cell's color in column B matches the color of the header cell in the row containing the formula.
I have been trying to format the rows on this sheet to color scale red based on the number of repeat text strings in Column E. Referring to the attached example sheet, '321/312.2/321.3' appears the most times and the goal is to color code the rows it appears in the deepest shade of red, then the next highest occurring string would shade the rows it appears in a lighter shade, etc, in descending order. Our team currently does this across multiple sheets manually everyday and it would be a real time saver if we could get excel to do this automatically.
I'm trying to have a macro run to search a specific column (S) for a particular text value "y" and if true it will change the font to bold and the color to red for the entire row of the cell that contains the "y". the column is part of a data table that is constantly refreshed not sure if that makes a difference or not.
