Formula For Calculation With Minimum Value?
Feb 28, 2012Looking for a formula that can account for a minimum value.
The calculation is as follows 1.22*(x)+8=(y)
(y) must be greater than or equal to 20.

I am working on two spreadsheets, one we shall call Target Sheet and the other Reference Sheet.
On the target sheet, I have a set of 200 geographic coordinates longitude and latitude (in decimal degrees). Each pair of coordinates coresponds to a geographic site.
On the reference sheet, I have a set of 900 geographic coordinates longitude and latitude (in decimal degrees). Each pair of coordinates coresponds to a geographic site. Note that of the 900, 200 are the same from target sheet, other 700 are different sites.
Using the spherical law of cosines, I can calculate the distance between a set of coordinates on target sheet agianst a set of coordinates on reference sheet. This allows me to see the distance from one geographic site, to the other. This was easy. The formula I use is as follows: ....
Attached is a print screen. I'm struggling with using the min function in vba. I want it to find the minimum cumulative cost in week 0 out of the first three, and the copy the permutations of it (1,0 or 1, 1 , e.t.c.) to Week one column C & D of the model.

Handicap in Cell I8 : I73
What I’m trying to achieve is the Lowest Average Plus handicap – 1 = total
Example
Cell
J8 = 105
J9 = 169
J10 = 126
J11 = 155
Cell
I8 = 45
I9 = 35
I10 = 54
I11 = 21
Result 105 + 45 =150 – 1 = 149
I have a load of (multiply duplicated) categories (in col G) and values for them (in col P). Each category has more than one value, but they should be in roughly the same ball-park. I want to rank the categories in a pivot table, by value, not alphabetically. So I wrote this formula:
{=MAX(P$2:P$10*(J$2:J$10=2)*(G$2:G$10=G2))}
(I also am only interested in entries for which there is a "2" in column J as shown)
This takes the category, finds all instances of the same category in col G and returns the max of all of them - so each row now has a "max value for this category" field.
This is all great, but what would work a lot better would be grouping them by the minimum value in the column, but of course when I do this I get a zero (from any one of the hundreds of non-matches).
I tend to get non-zero mins using small and countif but can't conceive how I would squeeze that into this formula.
I have a range of weekly sub totals that get entered each week for the year.
o8:bn8
As each week are entered I am trying to find the lowest week's production (using the =min formula) that is above 0 (weeks not yet entered appear as 0) the problem is that it keeps defaulting to the next column once a number greater than o is entered.
Is there a simple way to find the min and max value for my formula below

I need a formula to give me a MIN or MAX value only if there is a number greater than 0 in the cell AND not alphabetical letters (as some cells do contain). I need it to return the value for that cell across about ten sheets--I have that part figured out (I think). But I keep getting a #Ref error.

I'm currently using the following formula to return values rounded down to the nearest 2.5: =FLOOR(X8*1.25,2.5)
This works fine but I would like to put in place a system where if the "X8" value is 1 the formula produces a 2.5, and if the "X8" value is 10 or greater the formula produces a 10.
I have a very large spreadsheet which holds a lot of data, and has a custom reports system built into it, (i.e. running on a load of macro's)... The reports gather their info from a range of hidden cells which run different formula's to provide such results as 1 or 0 so that it collates into another sheet...
however, I have found recently that when I need to update any of the formula's and whatnot, the formula does the calculation and then disappears... whereas I need the formula to be there constantly so that the report is providing the correct information!
one such formula is:
=IF(AND(AC11"No Calc",AC11>=1,AC11
I have had a lot of luck finding what I need from the search areas, and I even found some information on the formula I am trying to build. The problem is I don't understand it and I need some help. First let me set it up for you. (I do not know the formula)
If cell L125 is has a value >0.00, I need to locate the smallest value the range of cells C125:F125, I then need to subtract L125 from that number, otherwise enter nothing.
This really has me baffled. I tried and I tried but it will not find the smallest value then subtract L125.
I was wondering if there is a formla that will delete a formula when it has done its calculation, or stop the formula from constantly updating.
I've got a formula
=IF(COUNTA(A1)=1,TODAY(),"")
When something is typed in Cell A1 the cell with the formula will input todays date.
Is there a formula that will stop this formula from updating, as when you go into the file on a different day the date would have been updated.
I put my margin in G6 of the data sheet and the cost are the numbers on the Mail Rates sheet.
cost/(1-G6) and then round result up to next .25
=VLOOKUP(Calculator!E6,'Mail Rates'!A2:D32,Calculator!D6+1,FALSE)
I am using the vlookup above to bring the mail rates to a calculator. I want to add a margin to the mail rates before they reach the calculator.
The margin amount is in G6 of the "data" sheet and the margin formula is "mail rate"/(1-G6)
I would then like to round the result up to the next .25 dollar
I am trying to calculate the present value of a terminal period in Excel. The manual calculation and excel PV function are off by about $98,000. Both calculations are using the same capitalization rate and terminal life. My PV Excel formula is as follows: =PV(discount rate-growth rate,remaining term (years),-terminal cash flow,,0)*present value factor in last year of cash flow) What is causing the difference in values? Is there something in the Excel formula that is causing the difference?

I am trying to calculate the response time between when a phone call comes into my workplace and when the responder calls back...I have created a formula that does this using the times and dates of when the calls were recieved and went back out. This works except when the call comes in on one day and goes back later in the day the next day, making the response time larger than 24 hours. I also have it set up to eliminate 15 and a half hours from the calculation because our place of business is not open during this time. Further details....

View 2 Replies View Relatedif i could get a hand creating a commission calculation.. here is what i'm looking for and my brain hurts trying to make it... I put in excel an employees gross fees for a month,, their commission calculation is based on the following scheudule, for which i'd love an easy calculation, function, code etc. for..
$0 - $10,000 - 60% commission
$10,001 - $15,000 - 65% commission
$15,001+ - 70% commission..
i'm sure this seems simple, but i just can't get it because if for instance their first gross fee is $12,000, i don't know how to have it calculate the first $10,000 at 60% and the last $2,000 at 65%.
ps.. my excel sheet is set up as follows:
Rows a-g (stuff that is irrelivant)
row h, gross fees
row i, commission (in dollars)
