View 8 RepliesHow to change color of the cells that are between the average and 1 standard deviation. The rules that I applied are 1. 1 standard deviation above change to Yellow, 2. 2 standard deviation above change to Orange, 3. 3 standard deviation above change to red 4. equal and below change to green. However when I apply these rules then everything within the average and 1 standard deviation remains white. I have attached my excel file.

I have table with a range of percentages and a "standard percentage value"
I now want to highlight all percentages into three traffic light colours depending on whether they are:
1. 80% greater or less than the standard value (RED)
2. 50% greater or less than the standard value (ORANGE)
3. If else then they are ok (GREEN).
in addition it would be nice to have those boxes which display 0 in blue.
In the attached worksheet, we track thickness of a variety of products and record them based upon lot number. I am trying to perform statistical analysis of those products and plot the averages.
Our products are in roll form. We cut to specific widths and lengths from these "master" rolls. We take 3 measurements across the width and several times throughout the roll length. We can have multiple rolls making up 1 lot and due to demand switch between products and try to use FIFO but that doesn't always work. I have keying in historical data and realized my standard deviation is way off but I don't know why.
I am trying to design a function that grabs an average of only numbers that are within a certain deviation of the mean. I got the plan down, and have done this before without VBA, its just a user defined function will be much quicker.
The gist of what I am doing: Find the standard deviation of a range and then only find the average of numbers that fall within n deviations from the mean. I am stuck with the part that I would normally use an array code for. Here is what my array would look like:
{=AVERAGE(IF((nums>high)*(nums
I want to calculate the standard deviation of a whole population in my database (total population: 36,458)
I used the STDEV equation however, I went into help and it says that the equation calculates STDEV based on a sample of 30.
I don't want to calculate a standard deviation based on a sample. I want a standard deviation based on the whole population. Is it still okay to use the equation?
The reason I want to calculate the standard deviation is so that I can use that number to calculate the sample size needed for my population so I can create a histogram.
I'm needing a formula that will determine the number of days that fall in a specific month based on a date range. For example, if I have a date range of 10/15/2009 to 01/13/2009, I need the formula to determine the number of days in each month within the range (October has 15 days in the date range; November has 30, December has 31, and January has 13.) I have a large spreadsheet that would be so much easier to manage with such a formula. Currently, my spreadsheet is setup as follows. I need the forumla automatically fill in the number of days under each month.
Stard Date End Date Oct-09 Nov-09 Jan-10 Feb-10
10/15/2009 01/13/2009
I'm using Excel 2007.
I have a spreadsheet that I am trying to automatically determine a dollar figure based on the number of points a cell has. A if the first set of a goal, B is their actual goal and C is the actual number of points. I am trying to determine the dollar figure for D. For each point between A and B the person gets .50cents. For every point above B and up to C the person gets 1.50. In the case below if the person doesn't reach B than they would only get the 50 cents from A up to C.
A= 2537, B=3252 C=2820
I have attached my spreadsheet and everything is perfect except on one point. I can't figure out how to tell the spreadsheet if it is a negative number to give me zero.
I'm documenting the steps of a process with each step accounting for a specific amount of business days. How do I determine the specific business day based on the number of days it takes to complete a process? For example: Start date then 45 business days from that date the next step begins...then 3 business days from that date the following step begins and so on.

The customer code is a cell reference, as well as the beginning and ending values I am looking for. I have the data on a separate tab from where I am putting the formula.
Here is what I was trying to use, but it was coming up with "0" for everything:
=COUNTIFS(Data!$I:$I,E7,Data!$I:$I,">=A8",Data!$I:$I,"
See attached picture. This shows Profit and Growth for the stores in each region.
The percentage total is weighted based on the profit of each store in the region.
What I have is an excel sheet with hundreds of regions (going down), all with a different amount of stores. I need a way to populate each of its Region % Total with the weighted average formula (in my example, cells C8, C12, and C20) while also varying the formula to include only the stores in the region.
For example, C8 calculates the weighted average for %s in rows 2 through 7 (6 stores), but C12 calculates it for rows 9 through 11 (3 stores). I need the formula to vary based on the number of stores.
I need a formula that will calucalte the monthly total based on the following conditions:
Col A = Yearly Cost
Col B = The number of the month when the costs are starting (1=Jan etc)
Col C = The duration or the number of months for which the costs are to spread
Col D is Year 2013 with the months across columns D-O. Row 1 above those columns shows the month's corresponding number.
Right now I have =IF($B3<=D$1,$A3/$C3,0) however if my start month is 1 and my duration is 5, I need the costs to stop after May. I've attached a sample file. Calculate based on start month and duration.xlsx
Is there a way to enter a colon into a standard number to create a value that can be formatted into a 24 hour time value? eg a time is listed as 1345 with a general number format, and I want it returned as 13:45 witha custom format of hh:mm. Other than creating a table and using a vlookup function
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to get the standard deviation based on criteria. It looks like this.
Criteria is 40 consecutive values ignoring 0 in Column A.
A B
1 50
2 20
3 10
0 20
4 10
5 20
....
....
nth
I use manual selection (e.g. =STDEV(B1:B3, B5:B6, etc...) that covers the 40
consecutive rows. B4 here is zero so I did not select it.
My rows is getting bigger and bigger, how could I formulate this?
I have customers returning however sometimes they will have spelt their name wrong or date of birth wrong.
Can I find these deviations for text? I've heard of Standard Deviation does that only apply to numbers?
For example if I am David Smith, and I come back as Daivd Smith, can excel tell that this is very close to David Smith?
I have a sheet of over 28,000 rows. I'd like to figure standard deviation of certain cells in a column that meet a specific criteria.
Do I need an If statement, is there a function that will allow me to do this, or anything else?
What I have:
If A1 = "5" (#of wins)
B1 = "2" (#of losses)
Column C = "1" all the way down (represents a success)
Column D = "0' all the way down (represents a failure)
What I want:
A formula that will calculate the standard deviation of the range based on what is input in A1 and B1. So in this example:
=STDEV(C1:C5,D1:D2)
I'm just tired of manually specifying these ranges when the values in the cells hold the length of the range.
I want to find the correct formula to find answers using excel for the folliowing:
1. >3Sds
2. 3SDs<>2SDs
3. 2SDs<>1SD
4. <1SDs
This question uses 3 sigma rule (see attached worksheet) and the formula needs to be re-arranged to meet new criteria. So, we need to consider both sides of nornmal distributiion (ND) curve. eg. when we say >3SD it means it should count all valuee falling in the rage "Mean(Average)+3SD AND Mean-3SD" i.e two extreme ends of the ND cureve. I have inserted a normal distribution diagram and colour coded the ranges so that it will be easy to identify. Please refer comments inserted in K7to N7, cells that contain formula that need to be reset.
I am trying to come up with a STDEVA formula that will only count values greater than 0 in a data set. Is this possible?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to determine if the last character of a cell is a number or not a number. So in a cell I may have a string like:
ZXC123
or
ZXC123A
If the last character is not a number I want the letter returned. So I thought I could use a formula like: =IF(NOT(ISNUMBER(RIGHT(D88,1))), RIGHT(D88,1),""). However for the string ZXC123 it still returns '3' so anyone have any ideas how I can do this?
I have a column of random number in Column A and need a formula to identify if any of the numbers in Col A is a prime number. If it is, then say "Prime" in the cell adjacent to the prime number in Col B. Eg if A12 has a value 17, then cell B12 should say "Prime".
I'm trying to find ways of applying a formula in condition formatting to find entries which don't follow a certain format.
to be clear, this is for a reg plate of a car. There are two styles of formats. The X's represent A-Z and # represents numerical values
1. XX##XXX
2. XX####
find a way of applying two test cases (non-simultaneously) so that cells highlight if they don't follow either of the above conditions?

View 14 Replies View RelatedTrying to do a simple workbook here, with hopefully no macros/VB script.
Essentially, I want a cell to display the row number (-1 to take into account the heading) which has the last value contained in it.
The workbook is a list of users that have signed up in 1 month, and is distributed to staff for a particular reason.
The cell I'm trying to create is part of a 'stats' section.
I have a worksheet that contains active rows and hidden, inactive rows. On occasion, I would like to unhide an inactive row. I intend to do this by running a macro which will generate an input box to enter the file number of the row in question. I can restore the row, but what I am unable to find a solution for is converting the file number to the row number to be restored. The file numbers reside in column A, so if I input file number 2300, I need the macro to look through column A, find the cell that contains the value 2300, and return (as a string?) the row number that contains that value. From this I can have that row returned to visible status.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have list for entries that is shared among few people. In that list, we manually add number for the entry. So if I input 99 then, next person should add 100 and so on. I would like to automize this, so say If I use this, then no one else can use it in the mean time and then when number is input, it should disallow if same number is input and it should automatically enter the next number.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a report of time balances that employees enter. I need to run a macro that looks at each cell and determines if the number is divisible by 4. (We only track vacation and ill time in 4 hour increments) If the number the employee entered is not evenly divisible by 4, I want the cell highlighted.
All of this I have figured out, the loop to look at each row, the IsNumeric function to test if there is a number...
My problem is with the MOD. I figure I should be testing number MOD number, but it is not reliable.
4.1 Mod 4 returns 0
.5 Mod 4 returns 0
I just need it to return zero if the number is evenly divisible by 4.
I considered the RoundUp function, but then it would also round anything above 3 hrs to 4, and that won't work.
I have client sheets that need to be printed at the end of each month. Sometimes I need 1 sheet, sometimes more. I have a macro which pops up a userform in which I can select the client I want to print and the month. I would like to be able to have the macro determine how many pages need to be printed so I get all the pages and do not end up with any blank pages. Is this possible?
