Below is a bit of a big macro i'm writing but I'm not sure how to edit my code to append the date after the filename. Then i'll need to refer to the exact filename later in the code?
I want to create a macro that when executed changes the name of "File1" to "File1 - Edited 8-9-2012". With the date being today's date (variable). This file is going to be emailed to someone who will then execute this macro.
Is there a way to prompt the Save As window with the updated file name so the user can save the file where ever he/she wants?
I have a spreadsheet that from a button I want to run a macro that will input todays date, the value in cell A1 as the filename into a default dialog box that is at a default file path. I have been trying to do this for several hours and can not completely get it done.
I want a macro that will save a copy of the current file using specific naming convention. My file is called OTR2CMMASTER - I want the macro to save a copy as OTR2CMSAGE(CURRENTMONTH/YEAR). The OTR2 is a named field (ProjectCode) in the workbook.
I'm trying to use the code below to paste special my first sheet to remove the formulas, then delete all other worksheets then save as a reference number (which is linked to the worksheet im saving) but I also need it to save in a specific folder.
I'm trying to record a macro that calls up the saveas dialogue and uses a filename from a cell (it's the w/c date). I can start recording the macro, open the dialogue box and copy the contents of the cell but i can't get it to paste as the filname.
What I'm trying to achieve is to allow users of a muli-sheet workbook to be able to click on a 'save' button on any sheet and have the workbook save with a filename which includes the current week commencing date. This way all the weeks changes will be in just one file and from the following monday a new file will be started the the old one left alone as an archive.
I have a spreadsheet that containt a conditional formula to place the current date aka Today() into a cell based on if an entry in the previous cell.
I put in this formula: =IF(I131>="1",TODAY()," ")
My boss told me to update to this one: (same result) =IF(I130>="1",DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),MONTH(TODAY()),DAY(TODAY()))," ")
BOTH will change the saved sheet data if we open it tomorrow (due to using Today()). We want to retain the date that it was entered on (which will always be the date he puts entry into sheet).
Is there a way to save the sheet and update the code for Today() to the date value so it will appear as a date when it's opened in the future?
way for my engineers to save a field ticket with a certain name based on data from a couple of cells in the worksheet. Re: Auto generate "Save As" filename from text and tried to use some code posted in the thread, but I an still not having any luck.
What I want to do is create an active X button when clicked on, would save the workbook to a certain folder. I want the name to look like this:
SO1!M3_SO1!M6_SO1!H2.xls
This is what I have so far:
Private Sub SaveMe() ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:usersdefaultdesktop" & Range("SO1!M3").Value & Format(Range("SO1!M3").Value, "text") & ".xls" End Sub
Would I click "general" or "workbook" in VBA when I enter this code?
I have data going in to a small table which has some empty rows as that data is not yet available... My problem is, I need to sort this table in date order but with the date nearest to today's date at the top...
The sort function puts oldest at the top or oldest at the bottom which is no good for what I need...
Our business has a spreadsheet set up for invoicing. A Macro has been created to increase the invoice number, save to the desktop as a PDF with a file name taken from the cells
This is working on my colleagues mac but when we've loaded onto my computer it errors, when I debug I am getting the following error:
i have my excel spreeadhseet setup so that it asks me for a clients name and then saves the file as the clients name in there folder
example:
c:work est est.xls
very often i do several differnt quotes for the same name
so when i open up and type in test as the client name, it says one called test already exists, do i want to overite it
if i do no, it ends my template if i click yes it overrides it
how can i make it so that it says something like the file name is already taken, please select a new name, so id type 'test walk' or something like that, but it would know to save it in the test folder
here is the script i have now
Private Sub Workbook_Open() MsgBox "Make sure you thank Ryan for this wonderful program which HE has created!!", vbOKOnly + vbInformation, "Notification Message"
Dim sName As String, fs As Object, sPath As String, bExists As Boolean
Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") sPath = "C:Documents and SettingsuserMy DocumentsWork" If InStr(UCase(ThisWorkbook.Name), ".XLT") > 0 Then 'ask for name only if it's a template sName = InputBox("Enter the Clients last name.", "Name Input Dialog") If Len(sName) = 0 Then Exit Sub
I am trying to create a macro to run from a form button, within a report, to save a file to a variable file path and name depending on the date value in cell B5.
The format of B5 looks like - 13/08/2014 16:39
The file path has folders for each year in format "yyyy" with each year having sub folders for each month in format "mm".
The file name is just the date only and is formatted "dd.mm.yy" e.g. 13.08.14
I have tried the code below in various permutations but always end up with an error - Method 'SaveAs' of object '_Workbook' failed.
I have a workbook that I'm using to tracking staffing patterns within a mental health agency. When the workbook opens the user is asked to pick a date range and an office location. I've placed code into the userform that pre-fills the "start date" with today's date and the "end date" 7 days from today's date. I would like the user to be able to enter a unique date range should they wish but I have yet to figure out the coding to accomplish my goal.
I am trying to get the results of the number of days between today and a future date. I am using ="cell containing futuredate"-today() and it gets me the correct number of days. The problem comes in when I have yet to populate the future dates. I am getting -39991 (numeric value between today and jan 01 01) and because I am also using conditional formatting this is even more of a problem. Is there a way get excel to display nothing if it is a negative number? or to give a specified resut if the number becomes negative such as Expired or something of that nature?
I need a formula that will calculate the number of days from a date entered into cell A1 to today's date. Whether it's before or after todays date. Example:
Trying to do a linkback from another post located here but not having much luck doing it: [URL]
I'm working with 2 date columns and trying to filter a view to only include projects with dates within 3 months of today's date.
I've attached a current working file of the data and the end result i'm hoping to achieve via a macro of some sort.
I've manually got it to work via formula by inserting 2 additional columns (highlighted yellow) which determine if the dates "YES" fall in this 3 month time frame of "" blank if not.
create a macro which does all of this automatically without modifying any columns if this is possible
I have a worksheet that has a sent date and expected delivery date I need create a macro that will alert me if today's date is within 5 days of expected delivery date.
Trying to automate the period part of the impt function
To calculate current value of loan i have the below formula below with the 3 being the current period
=IPMT(4.3%/12,3,5*12,-7000)/(4.3%/12)
What i would like to do is for the period to be self calcuating from current date and the loan start date. I can return a value in days using start date - today() and aware month function returns the month number but stuggling to find a way to work out cumulative month from the start date.
is it possible to display the week number of todays date (today()) from a physically entered start date (which would obviously be week one), the start date would be november 4th 2013.
If a1,a21,a41 have a value greater than 0, I wish to stamp cell b1,b21,b41 and so on with todays date, but without the stamped value changing/advancing tomorrow. At the moment cells b1,b21,b41 are copied down as follows. =if(a1>0,TODAY(),"") This works fine, but the date stamp of course changes tomorrow. I can not apply code to the whole b column as cells b2:b20, b22:40 etc have other non-date format data to which the code does not need to apply - the todays date value cell occurs every 20 cells.
