Let's say I have a database called testTemplate.mdb in c: which is a template-like database where i import data to. Is there a way for me to copy the testtemplate.mdb and past it to my desktop with file name test.mdb. I don't want to copy any data from the database, just the table's + queries. I would like this to be done via a macro... In order for me to execute other macro's to copy data from excel to that test.mdb file on desktop.

I'm having a slight problem with this script. What I'm looking to do is before the workbook is closed is check to see if the workbook already exisits on the users desktop if it doesnt then save it to the users desktop. if is does exists then just exit the sub. Here is what I have so far but for some reason it kept displaying the aleart message that the file already exists and wants to save it again.
I just added the displayalerts = false in but the script still does not know that file already exists. So when the file is closed it keeps saying file has been placed on your desktop.
I'd like a macro to rename a worksheet from its current name of "FullScreen (2)" to say Numbers, plus today's date (without the plus) For example... Numbers as of 02-17-09

The format of B5 looks like - 13/08/2014 16:39
The file path has folders for each year in format "yyyy" with each year having sub folders for each month in format "mm".
The file name is just the date only and is formatted "dd.mm.yy" e.g. 13.08.14

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an excel workbook that uses a .bmp file [a picture]. The master excel file and the .bmp file are in the same directory on the network. The excel file is "Read-Only", so the user would open it, customize it and save it on their own computer or somewhere else on the network.
They are only allowed to save it under "Save As". Once the user saves it, they would then be able to use their customized copy for future updates etc. The problem is that the .bmp file is missing from this new directory.
Is there a way to automatically save a copy of the .bmp file under the Directory specified by the user, so it's always available when the Excel workbook is opened? Or is there a way to attach the .bmp file to the excel file, so they are always saved together?
I have upgraded to Excel 2003 and have lost the File menue option that allows

I have a summary file (I'll call it File A) from which a macro is run. It opens other files, finds a "total line" then copies it into File A. Then it closes that file, opens another, and repeats the process. The macro works fine for most of the files it opens and closes, but on some of them, upon the close command, a dialog box pops up asking "Do you want to save the changes you made to "File B.xls"?
I'm not sure why this comes up as there were no changes made. Cells were only copied and pasted into another file. Is there a way to stop this annoying box from popping up? It slows down the macro by waiting for human input. here is my

Is there a way to save a file and have it automatically put today's date in the file name?
Example: original File name = test.xls
desired file name = test072807.xls, or test.072807.xls, or test.07 28 07.xls
So, I open the file, do whatever, and then click save.
When I click save, it does one of the above, given that today is 7 28 07.
I have two worksheets, one with "supplier names", "order numbers" and "delay in days" as columns. The other one with "supplier names" and "average delays" as columns.
It is the column "average delays" that I have issues with, I need Excel to search the "supplier names" column in the "delays" sheet and identify every specific supplier name, connect the delay in days for that order and calculate the average delay in the right cell of the column "average delays" in the sheet "delay statistics".
I have tried the help files and to search this forum but I have found nothing. I have also with my knowledge tried a few different ways using the IF function but nothing so far.
This is something I started doing but it is of course far away from any truth.
=IF(;Delays!B1:B200="Greber")..............
This is the "delays" sheet where I want to find my info. Nothing in the delay column stands for "no delay"...Kinda obvious but you know... So even the "nothing" needs to be included in the calculation..
how can you automatic the date to today's date when you open the excel file?

I'd like to add a "save as" function into an existing macro that would automatically save my worksheet in a network folder using a filename and today's date (no slashes). I have read several other posts with a similar Q, but mostly what I am finding is answers with a very "situation specific" copy/paste-able macro.
So here is my situation:
Filename: FILENAME MMDDYYYY
Folder Location - Let's call it: \companyFile2009
Im working on a document for work, its sort of a learning hobby tbh, something i want to learn. Im trying to do things myself from the books etc, vids from the net. This one i cant find the answer to so before i go ahead i would like to see if it can be done
Basically, we have a few documents that change every day. we get the raw data, and delete coloumns, change the size to autofit width etc...
(im creating a main macro to do that now)
But with that data i need to..
open a new book (but the book name is never the same... book1, book2 as you know)
paste the data
save it
.... the file name! needs to be something like this "Department 20130401" which i saved on 01/04/2013
if i did the document on 10th september.. it would be "Department 20131010"
I have Coloumn A with the dates 01/01/2013 etc
and Colounm B with Department 20130101 etc
Cell ("I1") has =Today() in it
could a macro change the filename from a vlookup result?
I have the current code that opens our raw data file and copys it into my workbook. However it now turns out the file is saved everyday as a new file with todays date on the end. Here is my current code:

Sheets("PROD_SELECTION").Select
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Delete
Application.DisplayAlerts = True

Todays file is now in the name "I:SalesSales and MarketingMarketing List Product Selection Details (20140416)"
I know i can do this somehow using the Date function but the closest I have got is using
"YEAR(NOW())&RIGHT(MONTH(NOW())+100,2)&DAY(NOW())"
To generate todays date like so: "20140416" but I dont know how to get that into my code correctly so i open the file with that on the end.
am using Excel 2010 and having issues trying to save a worksheet to a specified file location with the save date....
I have tried several posts form this forum and elsewhere and can't seem to get the macro to do what I want.....
I want to save a 'worksheet' from an open workbook that I use for updating information to the same file path as the workbook with the date the file saved...
I have an infinite list of consecutives dates on a row like the one below. I want that everytime I open my file, the first column shown is the one containing today´s date. If today´s date is 16.Feb, then the first column must be the one containing 16.Feb and so on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI managed to create some code that will connect to a workbook and take the data from there.
It is kind of SQL mixed with VBA. I just got this by finding it in google (I don't have the link handy now).
What the file does, is it will take 2 columns from a workbook called "Test.xls" and then take out 2 columns "Name" and "ID".
The only thing is, this is only a test and not the actual files I need to open. the files are always saved on the same folder, but the name is the day of the export of it. So when I export a file today, it will get 2014.09.10.xls. The sheet (only 1) will also get that name.
How could I change the below code that it will take that file based on today's date and read from the sheet with today's data?
VB:

Dim sSQLQry As String
Dim ReturnArray
Dim Conn As New ADODB.Connection
Dim mrs As New ADODB.Recordset
Dim DBPath As String, sconnect As String
'DBPath = ThisWorkbook.FullName

I have a workbook which consists of 28 worksheets, all of which are protected, and are running on a code which automatically keeps all sheets at "unlocked cells" in the selection field. The sheet is also password protected for write-access…
I would like a Macro, or some sort of code, that when activated… it unprotects ALL sheets (which use same password), creates a folder on the users desktop, and saves a copy of the document in there… entitled "copy of {filename}" It must also remove the "write access" password…
