How To Save Excel Cell Value Using Today On Opening Next Day

Jan 28, 2014

I have a cell using formula

IF(TRUNC(B1)=TRUNC(TODAY()),VLOOKUP(Sheet1!A2,Sheet2!A:D,4,FALSE),"novalue")

Wherein I compare cell B1 containg a date value with current system date and if it is true i lookup a value from another sheet.

My problem is next day when i open the excel the previous days value is getting erased as my if logic is returning false.

Is there any way to freeze my previous days value while opening the excel the next day

day 27 i have this value
drugcode27-01-201428-01-201429-01-2014
AA0011

day 28 when i open the excel it shows'
drugcode27-01-201428-01-201429-01-2014
AA001novalue1

I want to freeze the value under date 27-01-2014

Save Today() As Value To Prevent Changes On Reopen

Jul 30, 2008

I have a spreadsheet that containt a conditional formula to place the current date aka Today() into a cell based on if an entry in the previous cell.

I put in this formula:
=IF(I131>="1",TODAY()," ")

My boss told me to update to this one: (same result)
=IF(I130>="1",DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),MONTH(TODAY()),DAY(TODAY()))," ")

BOTH will change the saved sheet data if we open it tomorrow (due to using Today()). We want to retain the date that it was entered on (which will always be the date he puts entry into sheet).

Is there a way to save the sheet and update the code for Today() to the date value so it will appear as a date when it's opened in the future?

How To Save With Automatic Filename Plus Today's Date

Jul 28, 2007

Is there a way to save a file and have it automatically put today's date in the file name?

Example: original File name = test.xls
desired file name = test072807.xls, or test.072807.xls, or test.07 28 07.xls

So, I open the file, do whatever, and then click save.
When I click save, it does one of the above, given that today is 7 28 07.

Auto Save During Opening

Nov 17, 2008

I have attached a code that prompt the user for a store # then that number would automatically copy to cell A1 and at the same time it saves the file name as what is copied to A1.

This is a good code but the problem is when the file is closed and re-open, it prompts the user again for a store number and when you select 'Cancel' it replaces the store# already stored in cell A1.

What I am trying to accomplish:

1- When the file is re-opened, it should detect cell A1, if it's empty prompt user for store #, if it's not empty skip the prompt screen.

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
var1 = InputBox("store#")
Range("a1") = var1
var1_filename = var1 & ".xls"
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=var1_filename
End Sub

Save Options, Opening Work Books

Feb 13, 2007

Firstly... using VBA i'd like to disable any save function to everyone other then me and a colleague on a spreadsheet (The one below).... Is it possible that just the two of us will have the ability to save and no other user?

Secondly... On opening one work book... in this case "Productivity Test" i'd like it to simultaneously open "Productivity Test Back End" both saved in P:MI TeamNew Prod with the back end remaining locked totally.

The reason behind this is these two spread sheet's are linked via sums, productivity test uses the back end as a kind of data source so i'd like "Productivity Test Back End" locked so they cannot see it/amend it..

Maybe i could use a bit of code that updates the link everytime something is used as opposed to having the back end open at all...? What do you think?

The last thing, i have alot of macros that run quickly on my PC, if my manager opens productivity test and uses the spread sheet it appears to run alot slower.

There are alot of tables in Productivity Test that are hidden and only appear when needed while everything else remains hidden. The example below is one buttons code..

ub Selectdsrtablenew()

'Select the correct table for users to view DSR detail'

Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Rows("23").Select
Selection.EntireRow.Hidden = False
Rows("26").Select
Selection.EntireRow.Hidden = False
Rows("36").Select
Selection.EntireRow.Hidden = True
Rows("47").Select

Is there any way of stream lining the code here to make it smoother as it appears quite a few times in the report for different buttons.. Maybe defining table names?

Excel 2003 :: Unable To Allow Users To Make Changes To Workbook But Only Be Able To Do Save As Not Save

Dec 3, 2012

I have an expense report, which was originally done in Excel 2003. It still prompts users to open as read only however if they select no, they are not prompted for the password, and it has allowed them to save, so when the next person opens it, they have the previous person's report instead of the clean workbook. I have tried everything to put a password onto it. I know this is really basic stuff, but maybe I am missing a step? I want the end user to be able to make all the changes they want in read only mode and then do a save as, but if the select No when prompted "Open as Read-only?" they should have to put a password in.

In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.

All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.

Excel 2010 :: Add 12 Months To Date And Then Subtract Today

Here's the latest thing I tried (that doesn't work):

Lock Cells After Today's Date Passed (VBA Excel Code)

Apr 9, 2009

I am trying to lock cells after today's date has passed so that no one can make changes to it after today's date has lapsed. This is for protective reasons so that people do not remove their names from reserving something after using it. Now the code should disallow locking after cell input entry when today's date hasn't passed so that changes can still be made by the user. I am trying to determine the code to do this but I have no idea as to how to do it.

Here's a scenario: I reserve something for Aprill 11, 2009. I input my name. Since it's April 9th, 2009, I am still able to make changes up and until April 11, 2009. After this date, the cell is locked and no changes can be made, except for the administrator.

I'd like excel to take the cells I select and insert them into certain cells in the other workbook and automatically save that workbook. This will create a log of all my estimates where I can then link the full estimate to the log. The information will have to go in the next available row. Is there any way I can accomplish this without having to open the other workbook and save the work book each time?

Excel 2007 :: Find Dates Prior To Today With Exclusions And Create List

Jul 18, 2013

Excel 2007 I have a spreadsheet of file boxes the keeps a log of boxes, contents, locations and shred dates. Currently figuring out when and which boxes can be shredded is a manual hunt, find, and then deal with it. I can use CF and Sorting but I have been looking at some search type functions to return a list meeting the requirements and trying to step my way towards that.

1st attempt. Was find out how many boxes meet the shred (before today) that have not already been detroyed. Column K is the Shred Date, D1 is Todays date, Column G is Status. Got this working good.

[QUOTE]]=SUMPRODUCT(--(Log!K2:K2136(lessthan)STATS!D1)*SIGN(LEN(Log!K2:K2136)))-(COUNTIF(Log!G2:G2136,"Destroyed"))[/QUOTE

My failed attempt came at trying to find the earliest shred date excluding those that have been destroyed. This is not really neeed but I was hoping it would get me closer to creating the list of boxes that meet shred that have not already been destroyed.

Note: Column A is the Box No. and the spreadsheet contains blanks as we continue to add file boxes to storage.

Below array formula find the highest box number used by each department.

Code:

=A4&"-"&TEXT(MAX(IF(Log!$A$2:$A$2136"",(LEFT(Log!$A$2:$A$2136,LEN(A4))=A4)*RIGHT(Log!$A$2:$A$2136,3))),"000")

I would like to create a list of boxes including Column A "Box no.", Column H "Location", Column K "Shred Date" for any box whose shred date is before today that has not aleady been labeled "Destroyed" in Column G.
