How To Change PowerPoint Textbox Line Color Using Excel VBA

Mar 7, 2014

I've created a powerpoint with a number of slides, and I need to put a textbox at the bottom. I want to change the colour of the textbox border colour.

Code:
For intCount = 1 To 5
Set tmpTxtBox = pptApp.ActivePresentation.Slides(intCount).Shapes.AddTextbox(Orientation:=msoTextOrientationHorizontal, Left:=120, Top:=500, Width:=500, Height:=100).TextFrame.TextRange
tmpTxtBox.Text = strTolerance
tmpTxtBox.Font.Name = "Arial"
tmpTxtBox.Font.Size = 12
tmpTxtBox.Font.Size = 12
tmpTxtBox.ParagraphFormat.Alignment = ppAlignCenter
' ??? tmpTxtBox.Line.ForeColor = RGB(255, 0, 0)
Next intCount

I've tried everything I can think of for that line with the ??? in, .line.color, .color, .bordercolor but Excel VBA doesn't like any of them , I get error 438 'object doesn't support this property or method'.

Search Unopen Sheet For Value / Change Color Of Line / Copy Line Paste?

Nov 17, 2012

Our small family business has a mailing campaign that we track with excel. However, we're very concerned about users opening the macro-filled master spreadsheet. Instead, we'd like a macro to do everything for them.

When a letter comes back in the mail with a bad address, the user types the Street number and street name such as "1234 Main St" into $A2 of c:dropbox eturned.xlsm, presses the macro button, and it should do the following:

Opens and Searches "Sheet1", "column S", in the file c:dropboxmaster1.xlsm, and finds the LAST instance of the address typed.Selects that entire rowCopies the entire row.Pastes the contents into the row of the active cell in the destination spreadsheet, overwriting what was there before. Such as $2:$2 if the address was typed in $A2.In the master1.xlsm spreadsheet, sets the entire copied row color to "gray".closes master1.xlsm and saves changes.

The end result is that the user now has an identical row of information in their spreadsheet, and the master spreadsheet's row is colored gray indicating it has been completed.

Other notes:I'm open to more efficient steps than this if you have them.There are approx 5,000 records to search through in master1.xlsx at any given time.

Link And Change Source For Multiple Tabs From Excel To PowerPoint

Jan 18, 2012

I have to prepare a monthly presentation for my company. I have all financial data in multiple tabs in excel that have been linked to many powerpoint slides.

The problem is, I update the same excel sheet every month and save it with a different name. How can I change the source in powerpoint to select and update all the slides with all the corresponding tabs.

At present, I use Edit link (ALT+E+K) > Select each slide on the powerpoint> Change source to new excelfile. When I select all the sheets, the "change source" greys out. Hence I have to do it individually.

Excel 2010 :: Selection Change Event On Text Inside Textbox?

Jun 10, 2014

As part of a program I'm writing in VBA (for Excel 2010), I have a textbox in a user form used as an interface to write a formula in cells in Excel.The resulting value of a formula from a cell is loaded up into the textbox. It would be shown in the textbox like "See 1.2 and 1.3" where the formula in the cell is

[Code].....

This is just used as an example but the principle is there. It is worth noting that I’m writing this for very inexperienced Excel users but I need them to be able to edit the string part of the formula without breaking the formula.

However where I’m struggling is to pick up a selection change event inside a text box already selected. I need to be able to check if the textbox.SelStart is within an address value or within the string in the textbox.

The event Enter won’t work if the user is already editing the textbox (i.e. typing stuff) and then clicking or using the keyboard arrow to move the cursor somewhere else inside the textbox. I don’t think the event Change is the solution either as it would mean that the user would have already typed something and as a result the formula may already be broken.

I have had a good look around and I didn’t find an event for a selection change inside a textbox. Does it exists and/or is there a way that would have the same result?

Color Cell Fonts Based On Text Color Of TextBox Controls On UserForm

Apr 11, 2008

I have got a userform with lots of controls,

One of the action's on a large group of the controls is the same but except for one number

here is an example

If TextBox107.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell. Offset(0, 53).Font.ColorIndex = 3
If TextBox108.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 54).Font.ColorIndex = 3
If TextBox109.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 55).Font.ColorIndex = 3

This makes a cell that correlates to the textbox red if the text in the textbox is red.

Now, I loads of these textboxes that all need to run the same code with just the Offset value one digit higher than the last and I was hoping I could create a loop to avoid a huge block of code but I can't work out how to make a constant that will +1 with each loop.

Also, can I assume that a loop will start with the control with the lowest number i.e. Textbox1 and then work its way through the rest of them in order?

Excel To PowerPoint Without Embedding?

I have a monthly task where I collect raw data, and make up various charts in PowerPoint.

I have been making the charts in PowerPoint as previously, the file size of the .ppt was too large as it was embedding the Excel sheets into the PowerPoint. Is there any way I can set up sheets in Excel so that I can update them every month and then run a macro so that it updates the graphs automatically (without the embedding)?

I think copying them over as a JPG might work but is there any other way? I have no idea about the code needed, and I'm using Office 2003.

Format Of PowerPoint Links To Excel

Sep 25, 2011

I have 3 potx files, for one of them the links come out as:

Site Safety Metrics Rollup.xlsm!PPT1!R101C2:R118C14

the other are like:

C:EHS ReportsTFP EHS ReportSite Safety Metrics Rollup.xlsm!PPT1!R192C2:R209C14

I want to have the same format as the first one i.e., without the path. When the potx files are refreshed the link file will always be opened, so i do not need the path (this is part of a vba program).

The folder containing the files will be sent around and put in different drives.

'EHS Reports' is the main folder and that and everything else inside will remain the same. But the ppt links will not change so obviously will not update when the 'EHS Reports' folder is somewhere else.

Why did the links show up in different formats?
